If you want overpriced Jamaican food, and wait 10-20 minutes for them to warm it up, with unfriendly service. Then Bentley's is your place! I live in Hartford, and there are Jamaican restaurants on every corner so I know good Jamaican food. I happened to be in Meriden for work. So I said lets give it a try. The guy in glasses 🤓 who took my order (idk if he was Bentley I believe it was) was very cold an unwelcoming, as a fellow Jamaican he gave me a bad vibe while ordering🚩#1 I ignored it. Anyway I ordered a medium pepper steak and tropical rhythms juice $23.50 🚩#2. I was in Meriden so ok I guess? He proceeded to the back behind a door to get my order, I was on the job so time was a factor, he comes back out 5 minutes later and tells me my food is coming soon 🚩#3 I already paid so where can I go? 15 minutes later I get my medium (which is a small compared to Hartford restuarants) steak in a staple closed bag 🚩#4 What do I do? immediately opened the bag to see what I was getting for $20. He didn't look happy when I did so. I asked for pepper sauce, Bentley 🤓 pushed a basket of generic hot sauce packets towards me. If you know almost every Jamaican restaurant in Hartford has a bottle of Grace hot pepper available for customer use. He had them too except, they were on the back shelf For Sale Only! He rudely made that clear. As a Jamaican I had a few choice words for him before leaving his restaurant..I forgot to tell him Hey 🤓Bentley if you're reading this GO SUCK YUH SOUR STINKING MUMMA TILL SHE DRY BATTY BOY! Never again yu teef. The food was average at best not worth that money. Guess you can fool Door dash...
Read more"Kinky Reggae" I work in Meriden and about a week ago I started looking for different places for lunch. Bentley's popped up on Google and I had no idea there was a Jamaican restaurant in the area. I love Jamaican food. I took a ride there to grab a menu and while I was there I also had a spicy beef patty. Delicious ! Today I went back for lunch. While the very nice woman was getting my order ready, I was admiring the dining area. Very clean with nice pictures on the walls. I'm a huge fan of Bob Marley so I was really happy when I heard his music playing from the TV. I liked the sign on the wall that said, "Happiness is Homemade". Another reason to like this restaurant even more. I ordered a small Brown Stew of Chicken with rice and peas and steamed cabbage with a sorrel and ginger drink and a bottled water. I was curious about the taste of the Mannish Water (goat soup), but they don't make it anymore. It's supposed to do magical things down there on a man. If you know what I mean. LOL. It made me think of Bob Marley's song, "Kinky Reggae" The ride back to work seemed longer than my ride there because my lunch smelled so good. My first bite of that tender chicken was worth the wait and everything was great. I can't wait to try the oxtail, curry goat, curry chicken,...
Read moreA few years have passed since I've been to this restaurant. Yesterday, I wanted steamed fish and at the time they were not able to prepare it. So I went to Fish & Chips in Middletown. I ordered steam fish, rice and cabbage. HORRIBLE!!! Old rice and over cooked fish. Store bought plantains. I threw it away. I called Bentley's today and was able to place my order. When Mr. Bentley said $26 I was in shock. Lol Again, it has been 2 years since I last ordered steamed fish. I paid the $26 knowing I would be happy. The food was AMAZING. The plantains here are fresh.. I even called back to tell Mr. Bentley how amazing my meal was. Thank you so much. I also would recommend the Curry Shrimp and...
