My mom and I thought we would try this place as we like diners. Now pls keep in mind as I write this my mom and I both had gastric bypass so we eat small amounts. We asked the waitress if we could have kid sized drinks and explained that we don’t drink much with our meal she said “ya I got you” then my mom ordered off the senior menu. I asked her what the difference was between the regular menu and the senior menu and the waitress told me that the senior menu portions were smaller. They charge less than a dollar more for a regular menu item. So I said OK would it be possible if I could order off that menu due to me having gastric bypass I didn’t want huge plate. Once again she stated “I got you” I also asked if I could have sweet potato fries instead of regular fries because my stomach cannot digest regular fries as much as they can sweet potato fries. when she came with the meal. The portions were the same. When she came with the check, we were charged for a regular meal and a senior meal again only a couple cent difference. First of all the senior menu is usually cheaper than the regular menu every place I’ve been to in a diner or a restaurant. Your senior menu is almost half the cost of a regular menu item! so needless to say number one she lied. I ended up with the full price menu not a senior menu number two. The meals are the same size number three we were given a full-size drink and not a kid size drink phone number for she didn’t mention that she was going to charge me 3.99 for the sweet potato fries. If you substitute an item, and there is an extra charge that is not mentioned on the menu you are supposed to tell your customer.. Our meal came to $45 and we got two fish sandwiches. That’s extremely high for a diner. We will definitely not be back here because the waitresses will just yes you to death to get the order. She would’ve gotten a bigger tip if she just would’ve been honest...
Read moreWe ate there twice. The first time my husband had a burger and I got chicken fried steak and eggs, he liked his burger and I really didn't like my chicken fried steak. I thought maybe it was that one meal so we went again. Big mistake. I got the chicken club sandwich, it was extremely salty, my husband got the Texas burger and it was also too salty, my SIL got the chicken tenders and they may as well have been the frozen Tyson ones. We also got fried pickles as an appetizer, pickles are always salty but this was something else entirely. I think they were salt scuptures made to look like pickles in breading. I now have symptoms of food poisoning, I think its the pickles because I shared my sandwich with my husband and he is fine (he took one bite of the pickles and wouldn't have any more. Smart man.). Our server was a lovely young girl, I think she was the only server in the whole restaurant so I really don't want to blame her for how slow everything was. I think it's just how things are. It took forever to get our food and my husband's burger came out well after everyone else's food. Long enough that he told us to just eat and we were about done when it came. The slowness really wouldn't have been a problem if we liked the food. We try to be very respectful and empathetic toward the service industry, I know its hard work. I would have given three stars if I didn't have food poisoning. We also saw the cook pick his nose when he went back to the kitchen 🤢
If you LOVE salt and have a strong stomach go for it, but we will not...
Read moreThis homey diner at Superstition Springs Mall is not just a traditional diner in its looks but serves up really good traditional diner breakfast and lunch fare like very few in the Valley do. My expectation being from the East is a Diner should be open 24 hours – that’s an almost unheard option here in the Valley. And, few Diners here are real Diners, so in the context of 24-Hour Eateries being only 4, yes only 4 in the Valley, what we primarily have are Breakfast Joints, Breakfast and Brunch Cafes and/or Breakfast and Lunch Eateries – and the 24 ops are relegated to National establishments. Nana Dee’s is one of the former, and it is very, very good – I forgive their non 24/7 status! Following a tradition of Chrome flash, neon lights, hard floors and vinyl lined booths, it’s pretty retroish and fun. Our last visit I enjoyed a tasty and well prepared good old-fashioned Liver and Onions with sides of mash potatoes and some mixed vegies. My wife had a delectable Tuna Melt. As simple as those meals are, you’d be hard pressed to find really, really good ones in the Valley. We wrapped up our meals with a terrific Strawberry Shake, with real Strawberry chunks in them. Nana Dee, keep up the good work,...
