As much as I want to give this club a 5 star review I just can’t. I will first say that the atmosphere / environment is amazing. The lasers, fog, audio, dancers are all top tier, so there’s that. Obviously this club has some of the most famous artists in the world performing at it which also adds to the hype and experience. My friends and I decided to go to LIV during Miami Music week to see John Summit perform. Luckily we got tickets in advance so we didn’t have to wait in the line that was out of the door at 11pm. (FYI you will most likely spend $500 + if you attempt to purchase a ticket upon arrival if it hasn’t already sold out… there were people standing in line out the door paying $800 to get in. So get your ticket beforehand if you want it for 60-200$. Once we got in the club we were loving it. The dj before John came out was killing it and the dance floor East super packed but began to get busier by the hour. My friends and I went to get drinks at the bar and each drink was around 25-30$ total (which isn’t surprising… you’re at one of the top nightclubs in the country / world). We all went back out on the dance floor and at about 1:30 am my friend and I decided to run to the restroom so that we would be good to see all of John Summits performance (goes until 4-5:30 am)… so we went to the restroom and went back down to the dance floor. Our other friend was still down there in the crowd so we were trying to spot him… as we made our way down a bouncer held his hand out in front of us and told us we couldn’t enter. We politely told him that we had just gone to the restroom and had been down there the whole night but…he wouldn’t let us go. My friend who was with me started to want to leave because of how rude the bouncer was to us. I told him that we would be fine and would try another way back to our spot. After walking around the top floor we found a bouncer who had been super friendly to us all night and asked him if he could help us get back to our spot. He said he would… but for a price. I thought he was kidding at first but turns out he wasn’t lol. He asked for 100$ and then he would take us down there. I looked in my wallet and had a 100$ bill. I realized that I was gonna regret this but if it meant my friend and I getting to reconnect with our other friend on the dance floor before John Summit came out I was gonna do it. So I handed it to him and he seemed super happy… he told us to follow him so we did. My friend that was with me seemed impressed that we may have found a way back to our spot. As we walked down the bouncer with the 100$ looked at another bouncer and whispered in his ear… they both looked at my friend and I and then the bouncer handed the 100$ to the other bouncer who then walked under the rope where the private tables were and disappeared into the crowd of people. I tried following but the bouncer held his arm out in front of us and said to go back. At this point John Summit was coming out and I had just gotten robbed by a bouncer. My friend and I walked back up to the top and decided to get out of there. We called our other friend who unfortunately had to leave an amazing spot on the dance floor to come with us. After spending 400$ + on a ticket, drinks, and another 100$ for a bouncer to steal…our experience at LIV was not quite enjoyable. The bouncer’s there are rude and only kiss up to the pretty women ( which I understand is how most nightclubs are ) but there’s also a difference between wrong and right and no matter what business or company you own no employee should get away with stealing from its own customer so blatantly. Outside of my experience at LIV I do follow them and enjoy seeing their content. Like I said… IT IS an impressive nightclub that would have been SOOO much more fun to party at IF the bouncers didn’t ruin the experience for my friends and I can say that I do plan on going back to LIV and hope that this doesn’t happen again. I will also be getting a table so I don’t have to worry about these things happening and would recommend...
Read moreHere’s my honest review as a Miami tourist who went to see Steve Aoki with friends!
Pros: — Club lighting/sound/effects were insane!
— High ceilings and good A/C!!! As someone who gets hot easily especially at clubs I really appreciated how comfortable the temperature was at LIV.
— I’m not sure if they spray stuff in the air to make it smell good but the club smelled sooo nice! I would buy that scent as a cologne lol.
— Bartenders provided quick service even at peak hours.
— A guy in the club was making my friends (who are women) uncomfortable and being sloppy. After alerting the security guards they handled the issue really quickly and removed him from the club. Very glad to see that they care about the safety of the women in their club.
Cons: — Water was $8 for a small sized bottle. I personally believe water should be free especially when alcohol is being served. It’s important to stay hydrated and I can almost guarantee the club and hotel could afford to provide a free cup of water (doesn’t have to be a plastic bottle) and still make an insane profit from drinks/covers/tickets/etc. Providing necessities like water for free improves customer experience and loyalty. If people were able to stay properly hydrated without going broke, they’d be likely to spend more money on alcohol. Just something to consider.
— The are several VIP sections on the actual dance floor. The area for general admission is smaller than I expected for a club of this caliber. Not a lot of room to actually dance, you’re kind of just standing there and bobbing your head.
— Like many others have said the bouncers can get pushy and aggressive. They want you to move out of their way but like I said the general admission area is very small and packed so you can’t really move. I didn’t have a super bad experience with the bouncers, as I understand they are doing their job, but they need to understand that there are some points where we literally can’t move. If LIV is worried about walkways being blocked then I would say find a different area, off of the dance floor, for VIP sections. Finding a better location for the VIP sections would help minimize traffic in walkways and help with crowd control. I understand clubs like this make a lot of money from bottle service so I’m not suggesting to remove the sections but I believe there are better places they could put them that would improve the experience for VIP and GA guests.
Things to know before coming:
— Buy tickets ahead of time!!!! We paid $70 to see Steve Aoki and it was soooo worth it. I’ve heard covers can get very expensive when buying tickets at the door so do yourself a favor and buy tickets in advance!!
— A basic drink like rum and coke will cost you roughly $30.
— Women are required to wear heels.
— Men, DON’T wear jeans, you need to wear nice pants and a nice button-up or polo shirt. I saw people inside with clean, nice looking sneakers but if you want to guarantee easy entry just wear your dress shoes.
Overall it was a great and memorable time! The experience would’ve been 5 stars if there was a larger dance floor and free water was...
