Oh, what a night! The vibe, the experience, the service, the food, the drinks all came together and made a beautiful birthday night for my cousin from Boston. Thanks to our excellent waiter (Joseph (Joe) and busser (Alexis), they were exceptional.
Environment: It's very welcoming, from the bouncer in front of the door, the hostess, to all the other staff members on the floor. You can see they work as a team. I was happy I didn't get the typical high-end restaurant feel-out-of-place vibe. The decor is lovely. The table arrangement has space in between where you don't feel like you're rubbing elbows with other parties.
The music is loud because they played a mix of songs that satisfied all age range; it didn't bother me. You'll be moving your body and singing along without knowing it (We did the whole night). The lighting is excellent for an intimate atmosphere but not for my blind self when reading a menu. The bar is decent, not overcrowded at all.
Drinks: the bartenders did their thing. We had the Gatsby, Spicy Jaja Margarita, and Frank Sinatra (refreshing, preferred). Here's a little oops; I ordered a third Frank Sinatra; I was confused since the color was light pink then dark purple. I thought I received a different drink since It looked different and tasted like another drink and was much, much better. Our waiter found out it was a Frank Sinatra; the bartender probably put more of one of the ingredients. We tried to get another just like it, but we got the regular dark purple.
Unfortunately for me,😭 I had to give mine up to my cousin (BDay) and had the regular Sinatra. That little mishap drink was the best 🔥out of all the drinks. I took a pic of them side by side; if management can have the bartender try to remake it, you'll have a new drink on the menu. PS you can call it (Mia Farrow) since that was Frank Sinatra's shortest marriage, just like the drink was short-lived for me🥺😭.
Food: let me say our younger picker eater cousin ate everything we ordered. The dishes were delicious. We had Yellowfin tuna, Scallops Espanola, 1/2 Rack of lamb (the best one my sister said she ever had, she wanted to hug the chef), whipped potato, Mac and Cheese, truffle corn, Kosher Chicken Schnitzel (fried chicken). I had to save the best of them all for the last Wagyu Australian skirt steak😍 and apple strudel dessert😋.
Service: I have not had a service of such magnitude in a while, especially at a high-end restaurant. Joe and Alexis did an excellent job. After each course, the plates were removed, and the table wiped down; my sister and I were surprised. Joe knew the menu; he recommended the dessert, a great choice. The manager made round to check on service too. I can't speak for everyone else's experience, and every waiter doesn't behave the same, but my sister and I were surprised to see they're only charging 18%, not 21%, for service.
Most restaurants nowadays, especially those considered high-end, are charging 21% automatically even when some of their services are not up to par—a slight hint to management you might want to look into it. If someone's service is not up to standard, request to speak with...
Read moreI have been a loyal patron of this restaurant numerous times; however, my most recent experience was regrettably the most memorable, and not in a positive manner. While my family and I were seated at our table and enjoying a bottle of wine after having been presented with our premier suitcase tomahawk steak, priced at $1,000, the hostess came over to informed us that the owner Mr David Grutman called and was arriving with his friends. She stated he requested us to be moved as he wanted our table so he could sit in the front of the restaurant and have his firends close by so we needed to relocate to another booth at the back of the restaurant which was the only other available seating. This unexpected demand took us aback to vacate our table and move to a less favorable location adjacent to a large party of 30 exceedingly loud individuals. Upon relocating, we found ourselves without wine glasses, and when our food was finally served, it was cold, and no forks to eat our cold food which compounded the situation of being directed to a less favorable restaurant area. Consequently, we were left with cold food, no wine glasses, and no necessary utensils. The situation not only caused embarrassment for us, it was VERY demeaning it also left my children and their friend, who was visiting us feeling perplexed and as though we were being penalized. As you can imagine, after paying 1800.00 for cold food and a very demeaning experience, we will not only never go back but let everyone know how we were treated. Mr David Grutman might as well have asked us to wash his plates after the way we felt being reolacted to the back of the restuarant in the middle of our dinner. The message to Mr. David Grutman is if you want a table at your beck and call to service you and your friends at anytime you should keep a couple of tables reserved! Your patrons should have the right to the seating provided, and if your staff knew you were coming, they shouldn’t sat us at that specific table, but they didn’t know Mr. David Grutman just decided to call and instruct the staff to have his tables ready and move anyone anywhere else. Mr. David Grutman is known as a success in the hospitality industry, and to be frank, I thought the same until this nightmare experience. I guess, like social media, you think all is great until you experience...
Read moreWe had a 9:30pm reservation on 2/21/2023. The seating attendant took us to a corner booth that was cover in food crumbs and the seat of the red velvet booth was dripping wet with who knows what fluid. Instead of calling the manger, having staff properly address the mess, or moving us to another table the attendant gave us napkins for us to wipe the booth ourselves. She the indicated that someone could just sit on the napkins to sit because no other table was available. My brother from out of state offered to sit on the napkins so we could all enjoy a nice birthday dinner is shown in the photo.
I asked her to how they were going to address and rectify this horrendous treatment for having us clean our own booth and then forced to sit on wet velvet booth with God knows what fluid all over it. I was told we would get a free round of shots for our inconvenience. I suggested the manager be notified. I was told he would and when our server showed up he told me he heard of what happened and that the manger would be notified and we would be taken care of.
However, when I received our $2400 bill. No compensations we ever given. We also order spinach as a side dish and was never given the side. In fact we order one of every side and received 2 Mac and cheese, one lobster Mac and cheese, one corn, and one Brussels sprouts. This was not what we ordered. I also had to ask to have my water refilled as well as ask multiple times for more napkins and silverware . It took 45 minutes to get napkins to the table.
We have been Papi’s multiple times and by far this has been the worst treatment/service we have ever received. It was despicable.
I do not pay this kind of money to be told to clean my own booth then sit on wet seating, have to wait 45 mins for Napkins and silverware , have to ask for water refills and pay $2400.00. Unacceptable!!!
I expect a manger to come over and address us and provide us appropriate accommodations and give us their sincerest apologies for inappropriately making us clean the booth and for us us to sit there since nothing was available for our special occasion.
I would also expect the manager to go out of there way to ensure we had extra attention and given a substantial adjustment on our final bill for such...
