Hilton Bentley Miami lacks a lot but the potential is there.
We arrived Thursday around 9:30pm and had to wait in the lobby about 15 min before we could check into our room because no staff member with that authority was available or anywhere to be found. As a Diamond member, this is extremely frustrating. We opted to check in on the app and by the time we finalized the process, the man working the front desk came back.
Our room was on the tenth floor, corner room 1013 which had a nice view from any direction. We also appreciated all the windows, even in the bathroom. The patio was weird though because the only thing stopping another guest on the floor from entering your patio was a few bars that weren’t even hip high (3 ft tall).
We had many issues with our stay that we hoped we could resolve with the general manager upon checkout and although she promised retribution, she won’t answer our emails or calls. She pretended to care when we’re brought forth our concerns and then totally ghosted us. We have attempted to call her and email her on many occasions
Issue 1: housekeeping cleaned our room one day and left the siding patio door open. First off, what a huge security risk. As mentioned, any guest could have stepped over the patio divider and ransacked our room. Also, birds, which there were plenty of, could have easily flown in.
Issue 2: the safe in the room didn’t work. We felt the need to secure our belongings after housekeeping neglected to secure our room but we couldn’t utilize the in suite safe.
Issue 3: there was some other guests takeout food stashed in our microwave for who knows how long. We went to use it to reheat our leftovers and a three container styrofoam package in a plastic take our bag slapped is in the face. We didn’t know how long it was in there but we didn’t want to touch it so we just didn’t eat our leftovers.
Issue 3: the gym was tiny and always smelled super strongly of a hotel collection scent the staff sprayed. Gag! Who wants a Strong perfumed odor when working? NO ONE- that’s who!
Issue 4: we witnessed a guest (husband and wife) couple changing their babies dirty diaper ON THE GYM WORKOUT BENCH 🤮🤮 no towels nothing. What the actual heck?!! Who thinks that a public gym is an acceptable place to change a baby diaper? There are two large bathrooms in the gym. We called the front desk immediately and asked them to confront the guests. To our knowledge (we were at the hour tub outside, next to the gym and the path to the elevators) no one from the hotel approached the couple or cleaned the equipment.
The housekeeping never restocked the coffee in the room and we had to ask for them to bring some up because of this. The coffee and coffee maker was remarkably cheep for the cost of the stay, per night.
The location on the other hand was excellent! We preferred the restaurants that were on the street directly straight of the hotel or to the left. Anything to the right, on Ocean Drive, was pure garbage.
The Greek restaurant at the hotel was ehhh. Some dishes were great and authentic while others were bland and clearly not made from scratch.
The takeaway wraps and salads were the best! The pastries, while they looked beautiful, were atrocious. The coffee was mediocre.
The beach access and chairs were lovely. A nice section on the beach where the staff set up the lounge chairs for you, provided water, and towels. Plus it was possible to order a good amount of food and drinks from the Greek restaurants at the hotel. The drinks were on point!
Overall we were underwhelmed with our stay. Mostly due to the inattentive nature of the staff and their poor training. We won’t stay at the Hilton Bentley Miami anytime soon. Such a shame with so much...
Read moreI stayed here for two nights with my 5 yo daughter. We had a great stay. I love this location. Close to the hotspots of south beach, but just off the beaten path of crazy… and still right on the beach. The room was wonderful (1 bedroom king suite) except the windows didn’t open. Special shout out to Andre at the front desk who was a perfect blend of kindness and professionalism. He offered us a new room for our second night, but packing up and moving seemed like a lot , so we stayed in our very comfortable room. The hotel was clean and well appointed. The happy hour offered some of the best value I’ve found in a high end Hilton in a major city. I had a misunderstanding with my Hilton Diamond food credit and Debra accommodated me thoughtfully. Good pool area. This is an expensive hotel, a little higher end than others I’ve stayed in on the beach, but it was worth the extra for me. Highly recommended.
SECOND STAY INFO ADDED This was my second time starting at the Hilton Bentley… not to be confused with the Bentley.
I’m a Hilton Diamond member and the Diamond experience matters to me.
The app upgraded me from a king bed studio partial ocean view to the 1 bedroom suite.
When I checked in, a little early I was informed that ocean front views are not offered as a complementary upgrade to Diamond members. Michael at the front desk informed me of this in an appropriate, respectful and kind manner. He also let me know that my room was not available yet. I relaxed by the pool until about 4:15, just after check in time.
Apparently the last guest on my assigned room had trashed it and my room wasn’t close to ready. Michael looked at the inventory and in consideration of my status and patience offered me a great room.
It was only one night and I checked out early, but my stay was great.
Andre, who had made my last stay there so memorable, was there when I checked out and had a warm smile for me, but I don’t think he remembered me. There was a group of about 5 team members behind and near the desk when I checked out. When one of them asked about my stay, it felt as they all were truly happy to hear how much I enjoyed my stay. It’s a really good team.
I like the Hilton Bentley very much. It’s one of the more expensive Hiltons on the beach, but certainly my favorite.
I’ll be back with my...
Read moreThe elevator is always overridden by a staff key phob. There is no free parking, and using the valet services is not optional. This is not advertised. I ordered this room well in advance, and it was in our noted that we were visiting for an engagement party. I am diamond. Our rooms were not upgraded, and there was no attempt by the staff to do absolutely anything special for us, for our engagement. However, the Greek restaurant was quite accommodating, despite the ridiculously overpriced food. I understand that you are at the beach; however, the food was not priced competitively with other restaurants in the area, and it was not exemplary in comparison to other restaurants in the area. It was simply decent. It's what you would expect from fine dining situated in a hotel. 80 bucks for breakfast with an automatic service charge is just too much when you can pay Doordash to bring you food from 12 miles away for 5 bucks. It was disappointing overall with incredibly small rooms and the 100,000 points a night I spent. They also do not mention a deposit. I never pay a deposit on any other rooms I ever get through hilton. They do take parking, drinks, and food out of your deposit. This is so you spend your money there. The other restaurants in Miami are superior in every way. They did let us hang out our last day while waiting for our plane. Really the least they could do seeing as I was immediately flying from there and checking into another hilton property in Vasalia, CA. The pool is also not nearly the biggest in Miami as advertised. This is a lie. Really this place is a big scam for diamond members, and people with too much money wanting to vacation on south beach. Next time, I will probably save some money and stay at the double tree. There are more authentic restaurants that direction. I was there a week, and didn't get to use the beach club amenities much because they limit when and how you get your stuff. If I want to lay on the beach in the evening, for 400-800 a night, I better damn well be allowed to. They took my umbrella away and refused to set one up when it was sprinkling, and I offered to set it up myself. This was a complete disappointment. I wish I spent my points at a Hampton at another section of the beach, and just bought my own...
