South Shore Branch Library — Attraction in Miami Beach

Undoubtedly one of the better libraries in the system if you are looking for available computers, fast WiFi, and nice work spaces. The bathrooms are private single seaters, always clean. Super friendly and helpful staff

It's quite small, so the selection of books is not so great. That said, the staff will gladly order you anything in the system and have it for you the next day (if available).

They have a dedicated area for toddlers. It's fairly common to have multiple kids playing and singing learning songs during the day. So if silence is your thing, this is probably not the best place for you. Those types of things rarely last for longer than 30 or 45 minutes.

There is no dedicated teen section, and no gaming station as in the larger library twenty blocks or so north.

We went there for the solar eclipse glasses but unfortunately they run out of it. A very helpful lady tried to help us and offered to call some libraries on the mainland. However, they were out of reach for us. As we left the building the lady followed us and offered her solar eclipse glass to us for free. This very kind action made our holiday unforgettable as we were able now to see the particular solar eclipse. I was in the library yesterday and i had a rude security guard come breathing down my neck he told me i couldn't be on the phone [very important work meeting btw] so i simply hung up and decided to leave early. this old homeless lady came harassing me as soon as i walked out. Caught everything on video too. i called staff and they basically hung up the phone. Worst library i have ever been to. I'm going to give it a second chance but next time im just calling the police if i could give this zero...
