I'd give it a five star review but there were some other visitors that kind of ruined the experience. Smoking is not permitted on this beach as of January 1, 2023, but several people were smoking, vaping, and doing weed in our area causing families nearby to either leave or be disrupted. There was also a woman that thought it was a nude beach and even though it was mostly families with their kids, she never covered up. Again my complaints are to do with those who chose not to adhere to the posted beach rules and laws. I was hoping to be in a smoke free area, that was family friendly, so just be aware people are going to still do what they want even though this beach was portrayed to be different.

People also left a lot trash on the beach and in the water. I tried clearing up my nearby area before I left and tossed left straws, bottle caps, general trash, etc. In addition to the disturbances there were several people going around selling a variety of alcoholic beverages, which seemed obvious they weren't supposed to be there since they weren't checking IDs and avoided areas where the lifeguards were at.

Other than that, the beach itself was great! The water was beautiful, even with the seaweed scraps. The water wading area stretched far out giving people space to spread out and enjoy the gentle waves. I enjoyed it there so much I stayed for nearly 6 hours instead of doing beach hopping. The family friendly atmosphere had people conversing with each, groups of kids making new friends and felt safe leaving your belongings on the shore because nearby visitors watched out for each other in...

This review is of the beach part or South Point Park.... First things first.... Parking can be a challenge if you are a first timer or are unfamiliar with the location. I highly recommend researching parking areas before going. With that said. The beach is at the north side of Governent Cut (Inlet at Port of Miami). Having the jetty rocks that extend a couple hundred yards out, blocks any wind chop created due to a Southeast wind. Something to think about before going. If you want to have an all day beach day on the weekend then Sunday is best because around 330pm is when the cruise ships start departing. Definitely a plus if you are into that sort of thing. Beach is wide with lifeguards. The water is best in the late fall thru the winter months til April. The bottom is sand with a very slow grade deeper. Plenty of areas for children to play is shallow water. SURFERS- South Point area is by far the best beach break during a winter swell from North Ft. Lauderdale south. I live on the beach 15 miles north and a 1-2 unrideable swell will be Twice as big at S. P.

.Check pictures. Triple overhead swell that was about head high+ at all other areas. Deerfield would be the closest to see a big difference. The reason for this phenomenon is the inlet is a deep Chanel that runs out about a mile plus with 2nd reef on either side. Swells bend towards the beach out much farther than anywhere so they don't lose the amount of energy like regular beach breaks. So you get a larger swell the breaks in this 1/4 miles strip of beach. It is really quite remarkable! I will post more...

World Famous South Pointe Beach. If you like classic crowded urban beaches with perfect sand and the occasional model being photographed along with beach weddings popping up and group photos dressed in all white then this is the place. There's law enforcement everywhere so the place is really safe and almost manicured like a golf course in some respects. I have found the beach to be very clean considering the huge amount of people using it. You can leave your stuff on the beach without worry here while you go in swimming (at your own risk of course) I have done it many times. The occasional tarpon swings by and everyone yells "shark! shark! " while running for the shore but you're not in any danger. The waters are shallow and warm with the occasional ray swimming by. Just don't step on them. They seem to move out of the way though. I know, I was watching it suspiciously through my snorkel for quite awhile as people were going in and out around it. The silly little thing seemed at home in the urban jungle beach environment. I've actually seen all this happen in just the last 4 visits there. It's a great place to people watch. Saw a pregnant modeling session going on last time I was there.. Where else but South Beach? Theres even a pack of stray cats living like mini lions right beside the pier. They are pretty wild and wont let...

Playa tranquila y amplia.
