I went last night for Cinco de Mayo. I had an awful experience that was truly so bad that I wanted to go back in person to speak to management. However after looking at other negative reviews and seeing the GM thoughtfully and sincerely respond, I am leaving this review hoping it gets to him.
I have been here a few times before and had a good time. The restaurant has a great location and view so I’ve enjoyed myself there before and was excited to return. I was severely disappointed.
Immediately upon entering the manager “greeted” us with an awful attitude letting us know it was too late to order food. He said extremely rudely “MY KITCHEN CLOSES IN A MINUTE ITS TOO LATE TO ORDER FOOD”. We said we were only going for drinks and he said we must sit by the bar. As my party walked to the bar I asked if we could sit at the tables closest to the water and the manager didn’t even respond he gave me a strange look and walked away. I read a review of a couple who ate here after attending the Hermes event and they mentioned that they felt the vibe that they were inconveniencing the staff from being there instead of feeling welcome. I felt the same but even worse. Like them I would also like to stress to the GM that I believe the staff I was exposed to (this time only I have had other pleasant experiences here) was awful and could use training.
The bartender was alright in the beginning but by no means offered good service at any point, just decent to start off. Then for my second drink I got a nasty surprise.
THERE WAS A TINY PIECE OF GLASS IN MY DRINK. AFTER MY FIRST SIP I FELT SOMETHING COURSE ON MY MOUTH AND FISHED out a tiny piece of glass. Alarmed I took it out, took a picture, showed my friends, and decided to tell the bartender individually instead of the manager. The manager already showed he was very unpleasant to deal with and even though I felt management should be notified I wanted to go through her. Her response was no doubt the worst customer service I have ever experienced at any restaurant.
She at no point apologized. Her initial response was, “wow in two years I’ve never seen that”. Then I showed her the tiny piece of glass on the napkin and she tossed it out and said, “you know you should clean my house”. LOL 😂. What kind of response is that. I never asked for a refund for the drink before I could she said, “All I can do is offer you another one, I can’t give you a refund”. And I said no thank you I’m honestly not comfortable ordering another drink here. Then she took the drink away from me (without asking me she just took it off the counter like that’s her solution). I had already paid for the whole tab at this point, just before I got the drink.
The reason I am really leaving this review is the shocking treatment from the bartender. No apology? Telling me I should clean her house? Telling me immediately I won’t be getting a refund for the drink? ABSOLUTE INSANITY!
Also I have to mention when I paid on the electronic payment system I asked to see if there was an option to leave a review. The manager overheard and walked by and said, “Oh yeah they probably didn’t like how I greeted them”. INSANE! Me and my friend laughed at the remark and said at least he is self aware.
All in all it was legitimately comical how awful the customer service offered to us last night was. It actually felt unreal as if at one point a camera crew would come out and say it was all a prank. We were punked, but it was no joke.
I have to say that if the bartender apologized and didn’t tell me “You should clean my house” I wouldn’t have posted this review and just wrote it off as bad customer service. But the fact she acted that way is ludicrous. My whole group heard her. What did she even mean, That im very particular and fussy and shouldn’t be notifying her there’s a piece of glass in my drink?
Also it’s important to note again the manager KNEW he greeted us poorly, commented about it in front of us, and moved on with the night (with no apology) like it’s all right to treat...
Read moreThe Bayshore Club is a great vibe. We had the day off on Friday and strolled in there at around 2pm. It was pretty full but they had tables and it was a lovely March day. The breeze, the view, and the friendly staff all made the vibe feel great. We ordered the conch fritters, smoked fish dip, the chicken sandwich and mahi tacos. We also ordered a nice pinot noir and a perfectly cold Funky Buddha beer. I am not a fritter person so, I really cannot say how good they were but my husband liked them and said he would order them again. The smoked wahoo dip was delicious, not too smoky, and not too fishy, a perfect balance and it was served with some Tajine seasoned tortilla chips. The crunch mixed with the smooth dip was perfection. The Mahi tacos were really good and packed with fish. They came with 3 tacos, packed with perfectly seasoned and grilled mahi, onions, and a tasty cilantro sauce. They didn't come with any sides but they didn't need to because they were really filling. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich - grilled not fried and he enjoyed it. He said next time he would try it fried. On the menu, the chicken sandwich was described as on a brioche bun but this one was on a lightly toasted pretzel bun. I LOVE pretzel buns and this one was soft but sturdy enough to hold the juicy chicken and not get soggy. So so good. The sandwich came with crisp on the outside but soft on the inside french fries, naughty but worth it. As we were eating Carlos the manager came by to see how we were enjoying the food and service. Carlos was great and probably a very big reason why the staff at Bayshore Club were so very friendly and professional. He was chill, and cool, and genuinely interested in our feedback. It was obvious he enjoyed his job and it showed. Shout out to our adorable server Sheyla. She was great and gave us perfect suggestions. Everyone appeared happy to be there. Bayshore Club was a great experience. If you want to feel like you are on vacation, go to Bayshore Club, order some good food and drinks and enjoy the...
Read moreI typically never write reviews but I was compelled because of the service tonight. I went to the Bayshore Club to have some drinks with friends and my girlfriend ordered a drink that wasn't great - no issue here, sometimes it happens. We asked our server, who up until then had been great, for a drink that was less sweet and he gave a recommendation so we ordered that drink. Unfortunately, the drink came and was even sweeter. She was just going to drink it because that's the type of person she is. We've both been in the service industry in the past and she didn't want to cause a fuss but I told her she should have a drink she's going to enjoy and she should mention something.
As soon as she mentioned it to the server, he fixed it, but his attitude dramatically changed. He stopped coming by our table to the point where my friends asked what had happened to cause such a shift. When he would come by he had a serious attitude with everyone, so much so that we just called it an early night at Bayshore Club and went to another place instead.
When it came time for the bill (20 minutes after we requested it) we noticed that there was a large party 20% auto-gratuity even though we only had a group of 5. It was then that we quickly realized that our server was able to just provide terrible service because he had essentially lied and exploited a loophole that would guarantee himself 20% gratuity.
Typically I don't mind if someone has an off night - both me and my girlfriend have been there before when we worked in food service (our server dropped a plate elsewhere and glass elsewhere on two separate occassions that night). But when someone forces my hand with tip and then provides exponentially poorer service because they can lie and secure themselves auto gratuity regardless of how they behave, well, then I will say something.
If you're a manager, sit down with your employee Andres because it was incredibly childish to act out like this. Totally unacceptable especially at an establishment like this. Won't be...
