I visited here alone for the first time. I was staying at a hotel nearby and was looking for a place to eat. I couldn’t get the feel for the entire atmosphere, since I was seated in a two seater table next to the bar which was divided from the main dining room. I didn’t feel extremely excites about the seating and the atmosphere I got, thus the 2 stars. Service was good, but when I asked for a box to go and the check, I didn’t get the check. I had to ask again for the check. There is nothing worst than having to wait for the check, when you are ready to go. Food, I never had a Mofongo, so I asked about it and sounded good so I ordered the Mofongo with Skirt Steak. It was not bad, but it was not the best Cuban food experience I’ve had either. I wouldn’t order it again. They serve fresh squeezed Orange juice. I haven’t been to the Miami area for a long time nor on the mainland, USA. However this was my first experience at a restaurant in the United States that charged different prices for cash versus credit card. I’m very used to paying credit card fees of 1 to 3% overseas at some places or at place of business within the United States.. I believe the credit card fee was approximately 4.5%. I probably won’t not return here, but I think I have accomplished two things. I am very full and I have done what was meant to be, “Update their menu on Google Maps photos.”

Wow! I asked the clerk at the DoubleTree to suggest a Cuban Restaurant and she gave me four to choose from. After a bit more conversation I choose Casa Juan. And not far from the hotel. Was it ever the right choice. With the help from my fantastic server I order Puerco Asado...and it was the best pork I have ever had. The onions were an integral part of the dish and I loved the Fried Pork Rind on top. When I struggled to choose between sweet plantains and green plantains he brought me one of each. I preferred the sweet just a bit more. Then I ordered one of my favorite desserts, Flan. This had a twist- a coconut topping (I chose) served with plenty of Carmel sauce and topped off with two dollops of whipped cream. The atmosphere is basic but the food is wonderful. And I thought very reasonable, if not inexpensive. I could have easily split the Asado dish and been happily full! While pictures tell a lot, for the full effect you have got to smell and taste this food. You’ll be glad you did.

After two years of waiting in anticipation, we were looking forward to returning the Casa Juan. It was, in fact, disappointing.

The food was okay, but not the exceptional ingredients and preparation we had expected from previous visits. The Arroz Amarillo con Pollo, for instance, was just too salty, ruining the subtle tastes of the vegetables and other condiments. The server was friendly, patient with our questions, but occasionally absent. Though the dining room was over half empty, we had to hail someone for service on a couple of occasions.

While higher prices are unfortunately the norm these days, the billing policies here have turned aggressive. Even soft drinks were expensive. We were charged higher prices for the food because we used a credit card. If that was on the menu, our party did not see it and the staff did not mention it. Paying in cash would have significantly reduced the cost, but no one mentioned that there was a choice. The difference appeared to be more than the normal credit card surcharge. There was also a roughly 15% Service Fee added, which was mandatory. Tips for the wait staff were extra to that.

Something has changed, the management and the cooking, something. It is sad to see such a decline in value and experience. It is a loss of a place that previously had exceptional food at reasonable prices, now serving okay food at higher prices, and loading the bill with surcharges and fees. At regular cash prices, and with the food prepared the way it used to be, it still would have been a little expensive, but perhaps worth it. The way it is, we will not return to, nor continue to...

Casa Juan, located in Miami, Florida, is a restaurant that offers a unique blend of flavors and a comfortable dining atmosphere. I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a lunch there, and I was quite pleased with my experience.

I ordered the Skirt Steak Sandwich, a dish that stood out on their diverse menu. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and the accompanying ingredients added a delightful mix of flavors that complemented the meat well. The bread was fresh, providing a nice texture contrast to the tender steak. Overall, the sandwich was well-prepared and delicious, making for a satisfying lunch.

The service at Casa Juan was acceptable, although not without its flaws. It was evident that the staff was juggling multiple roles, which occasionally led to slight delays. However, this did not significantly detract from the overall dining experience. The staff was courteous and did their best to ensure a pleasant dining experience, despite the apparent workload.

The ambiance of Casa Juan added to the overall experience. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place for a casual lunch. The decor is tasteful and contributes to the comfortable dining environment.

In conclusion, my lunch at Casa Juan was a good experience. The Skirt Steak Sandwich was delicious, and the service, while not perfect, was acceptable. The restaurant offers a comfortable dining atmosphere and a diverse menu that caters to a variety of tastes. I would recommend Casa Juan to anyone looking for a satisfying lunch in...

I have waited a long time to write this review because I really don’t have any intentions to harm this business and I will continue to buy food from this place as it is one of the few restaurants that I have near my job. But I wish they could improve the customer service. I have had more than three inconveniences with the staff. I always order delivery. The first inconvenience was that they forgot about my food and had to call them after 30 minutes after i had order and that’s how they realized it was mine the food they had forgotten. Then one day i waited for more than 2 hours to get my food!! Called more than 5 times to know about my food, they would always tell me they were going to send it right away and 30 minutes later i had to call again (five times). My work is literally 5 minutes away from the restaurant. One day i went to the restaurant with some coworkers to have lunch and we think we heard the waiter complain about the tip we left! Other times I’ve had different food of what i ordered and I’ve had people treat me very unprofessionally and today the person hung up right after getting my card info without even saying thank you or good bye. I just wish they would be more professional and have better costumer service skills. Update: They forgot about my food today again!!! One hour later they don’t know what happened when I called them they just sorry. I asked to speak to the manager and she just said that she was going to send it right away and then said sorry and hung up!! How many times will they do...
