For the past three years, since I made Miami my home, I've consciously avoided Chili's at Bayside Marketplace. Like many, I'd fallen prey to the common perception that restaurants in tourist hotspots often prioritize profit over quality, delivering overpriced, lackluster experiences. However, a powerful craving for their iconic Triple Dipper—a guilty pleasure I rarely deviate from—finally lured me in.
Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a choice between indoor and outdoor seating. Opting for the latter proved to be an excellent decision, primarily because it placed me within the service zone of Jaay, a server who redefined my expectations of restaurant hospitality. As someone deeply familiar with the quick-service restaurant (QSR) world, I possess a keen eye for detail, and Jaay's professionalism was immediately apparent.
The first thing that caught my attention was Jaay meticulously sweeping his section, ensuring a clean and inviting atmosphere. This proactive approach spoke volumes about his dedication. Moments later, I was provided with a complete set of utensils, a generous stack of napkins, and a straw—all delivered with efficiency and a genuine smile.
Jaay's personality was truly remarkable. He struck a perfect balance between professionalism and warmth, making me feel like a valued friend. His courteous demeanor and genuine interest in my dining experience created a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. He ensured my order was accurate and promptly addressed any needs. Throughout my meal, he consistently checked on me, demonstrating a level of attentiveness that is all too rare.
I also observed Jaay interacting with other guests, and it was evident that he possessed a natural ability to connect with people. He maintained a consistent level of attentiveness to all of his tables, while still making me feel like a priority. His ability to juggle multiple responsibilities while providing personalized service was truly impressive.
Impressed by his exceptional service, I felt compelled to speak with the manager on duty. I wanted to ensure that Jaay's outstanding work received the recognition it deserved. In a world where negative experiences often dominate reviews, it's crucial to acknowledge and celebrate positive ones. Jaay's performance was a shining example of excellent customer service, and I wanted to express my sincere appreciation. He earned a well deserved A+++, and in my opinion is the MVP of that location. I hope that Chili's recognizes the value of employees like Jaay. He is a true credit to their organization. He deserves to be put into a...
Read moreChile's in Miami, what could be finer? The quintessential backbone of American foodfare located centrally in one of the hottest night markets located within city limits. Surely, this Chile's was to be top notch. I set out with expectations low, with thoughts of the cheapest steak in town on my mind. Since Bird scooters are not allowed on the pier, I had found myself scenically walking up to the restaurant. Upon being greeted by fine white tablecloth dining and a welcoming couple, I was immediately sure I was at the wrong place. I found my way down a dark balcony past outdoor dining into what wasunmistakably Chile's. The smell of industrial cleaners was immedaitely apparent. Stanley at the bar did a fine job attending to me with a frosty local brew. It pained me that he had to read the labels of the craft beers, clearly nobody here was asking. The local draft was quiet pleasant. Quickly, my initial plans of a $12 steak were interrupted by good old faithful. There she was, the big triple dipper. Clearly I had to get the southwest egg rolls, big mouth bites, and boneless wings. Everything tasted as expected although the buffalo was not spicy in the least. During the course of my meal, a lovely couple with 9 children sat next to me and asked if I was interested in doing bank fraud with them. I declined their multiple offers and requests for cashapp payments. Overall, Chile's is not a place that anyone would be impressed with. It reeks of the same sticky stale flash fried food that has been shamelessly served to price concious consumers for years. I can't imagine a single executive stepping foot in these doors without wrinkling their nose. I am not sure what the function of a DM or RM is if not but to ensure that delivies of prepared chicken arrives in frozen boxes at weekly scheduled intervals. The function of the managemnt here is clearly not to provide an onverly pleasant welcoming environment, ample staffing, or an exciting menu. I am not sure that Chile's could do much to redeem themselves. The clientele don't want anything special and Chile's does not have to offer it to...
Read moreJust took a party of 8. 12 noon Saturday afternoon.
Understandably due to long waits we chose to sit outside. Very hot of course. But ok it was our choice. They accommodated our table very nicely within the means.
What sucked was the 40 minutes counted waiting time for the food to come after order was placed. And I'm giving them a few minutes credit. Truly Ridiculous. It seemed like every other table got their food much quicker, well they did. We were definitely last. Approaching our waitress to see what was going on with our order, who I will withhold the name of for decency sake, was actually very irritating (a hood like response). At that point I was ready to leave but I was with my family and I had to cool the tiger down also for decency sake. And our order was composed of the simplest items: 3 quesadillas a burger a chicken pasta and chicken crisper. The "chicken bacon" quesadillas were more like just plain quesadilla, I didn't eat even half, the other persons just returned it. 1 out of the 3 ate it and liked it, and she wasn't paying 😉. I left a tip out of grace cause I know the one at fault mainly is the kitchen (I use to work in one) and manager, but the way our waitress handled it showed her lack of experience in "customer" service so she got the lowest tip I could give since she fell just short of blatantly disrespectful, which was 15%. I felt my business was an inconvenience. Really sad.
The. She went and hid in the kitchen trying to fix our receipts bc she messed them up after printing the first time. Literally 10 minutes waiting for a receipt to pay (while I stood by the register).
Service 3/10. Food 4/10. Price 7/10.
I would never recommend this spot because of my experience though you may get fortunate and have a better one. I vow to never return....
