Undying undeniable underrated, citizen M Miami World Center exceeded previous notions that had transpired in my hopes prior to my arrival. This review must be told from a specific perspective. I am not well. I have brain cancer. 5 weeks ago it was determined to stop my treatment. Nothing worked. 10 days ago it was three below zero where I live in the Midwest. I have been to the Fort Lauderdale- Miami area probably 30 times in my lifetime but never spent time in Miami as I always headed to South Beach. Now I am a 67 year old man. I wanted to feel the sun on my face one more time. I wanted a dip in a pool. I wanted to have one more experience unparalleled to any previous traveling encounter, and I have traveled the world. From Barbados to Venezuela to Ireland to Stockholm to Austria. Remarkably I have never had better consistent cheerful customer service anywhere compared to this gorgeous establishment and it's not because the trip is fresh in memory. The hospitality is contagious, recognizing each guest's dignity with enthusiasm beginning from the top implemented by formidable general manager Victoria who leads a dedicated staff who do not let any detail go unnoticed. Even at the slightest hint that something is not satisfactory they will make it right. The location is beyond Uber dreams. It is in the center of great activity with stunning beauty, a heavy populace, a trendy welcoming hip tourist vibe. There is a stunning designed rooftop bar and presently there are about 50 people up there who came across the street from the Kaseya Center after the end of the Miami Heat Boston Celtics game. I'm underneath the bar on the 10th floor and I cannot hear a sound. The sound proofing is fantastic. The bed will not fit as my personal item on my Delta flight when I have to go home but if it could I would take it because I had the greatest sleep. If I had any criticism it would be the fact that I think they need to reposition the hotel at about a 10 degree angle to the right because as it is now the skyscraper next door blocks the sun from the rooftop pool from 1:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon. LOL Citizen M is a 4-minute walk to the Bayside market which you must experience. The hotel plays music at the pool and if I could change anything I might pull back a little bit now and then where it's not a constant. It of course lends to the vibe that the hotel has created but as an old man occasionally I like some quiet. But I'm out of my league here. In addition to Victoria I must thank the following people who are now in my heart as I have experienced three of the greatest days of my life. Thank you Annie, Cindy, Stefano, B, Adriana, and my hero Justin. Here is my hope and prayer for each of you. It is simply that God continues in each of you the beautiful work that he began on the day that each of you came forth on your birth date! Finally, perhaps I'm being selfish and spoiled but I've already booked another stay for the first week in May. And I did this knowing there's a chance it might not happen, but you know what? It gives me further motivation to fight harder than ever. Grateful to you all more than...
Read moreAn Experience of Highs and Lows
My husband and I recently chose CitizenM Worldcenter for our 6-night stay during Ultra Miami 2024, marking our first experience with the CitizenM chain. Our anticipation was met with a blend of remarkable highs and unfortunate lows.
The Highlights: The hotel's interior design is nothing short of stunning. Each corner of the hotel showcases meticulous attention to detail, reflecting a beautiful execution of the brand's vision. The common areas boast spacious and comfortable settings, ensuring a pleasant communal experience. The hotel is clean, and the self-check-in option was awesome. Its prime location is a boon, with a 24-hour CVS, merely a three-minute walk away, alongside a variety of dining options including sushi place, pizza place, and breakfast cafes. The proximity to the metro further elevates its convenient location. The hotel's food was delicious.
The Setbacks: Unfortunately, our stay was marred by several discomforting events. One morning, a fire alarm abruptly disrupted our peace, followed by a flooding issue within the hotel (so we were told by another guest whose room got moved).
Despite the noticeable response with fans and dehumidifiers placed in the hallway right next to our room, another day that beeping was a source of sleep interruption again, and, surprisingly, there was no direct communication from the hotel staff regarding room changes or updates. The rooms, albeit beautifully designed, were so small. The waterview from our room, while appreciated, could not compensate for these inconveniences.
Furthermore, the night bar staff seemed less than welcoming, possibly due to a disparity in reception towards the festival crowd. A particularly distressing incident involved a heated confrontation between hotel staff and a young festival-goer, leading to an arrest - a sight that was far from pleasant (Sunday, the 24th)
An odd and somewhat humorous incident occurred when a staff member inadvertently unlocked the stalls in the lobby bathrooms while occupied, showcasing a lapse in privacy and discretion. The rooftop bar is called "night swim," but the pool closes at 7:00 pm. The hotel is near some busy streets, so be prepared for road noise.
Final Thoughts:
While the hotel’s design and day staff deserve accolades for their exemplary efforts, the overall hospitality and management during our stay left much to be desired. The disconnect between the hotel staff and the festival attendees was palpable, affecting the overall experience. It's disheartening to note that the vibrancy and energy brought by the fest crowd seemed at odds with the hotel's atmosphere, as reflected in the lack of engagement from the staff regarding our stay. Despite the visual appeal and strategic location of CitizenM Worldcenter, the challenges we faced led me to grant a 3-star rating solely in appreciation of the hotel's design and the commendable day staff.
For future guests, especially those attending festivals or large events, it may be worth considering how the hotel's vibe and guest management align with your expectations for a comfortable and...
Read more377$ for one night Sat to Sunday. This place is not worth it. When my wife and I entered the room we literally laughed at how tiny the rooms are. The bed takes up most of the space and honestly I have stayed at motels with larger rooms for way cheaper. The bathroom is even smaller. It barely fits a toilet and shower with the sink inside the main room and outside the bathroom… So you take a poop, then leave the bathroom to wash your hands in the sink they tell you to drink the tap water from because there is no bottled water in the room. Whoever designed and installed the shower door was insane because there is a huge gap at the bottom that lets the water drain into the rest of the bathroom. My wife and I took a shower and there was more water outside the shower than in. No idea how this place doesn't have a huge mold problem. The vent in the bathroom looks like a jet engine but there is no way to turn it on since both buttons in the bathroom flush the toilet. Lol so I can flush the toilet with two different buttons but you guys couldn't install a dedicated lightswitch and switch to turn on the fan?? I still have no idea if its automatic or just there for show. The bed is right below the window and goes wall to wall meaning whoever is sleeping by the window has to crawl over whoever is sleeping close to the bathroom in order to get out of bed. 377 for the right to crawl over your spouse just to take a trip to the restroom. They have a motion sensor in the room that clicks when you move. if you stop moving (aka sleeping) it turns off the aircon too so the room gets hot and it takes a very long time to cool down again. This is a strange place and I wouldn't recommend it for the money we spent. I would stay here for maybe 100$ a night but for 377 I feel straight up robbed. The only saving grace about this place is it is clean and in a good location. The bed does feel comfy too but for the value you are better off finding a more traditional hotel. The technology on the ipad is fine but un-needed. All the room needed was some well placed light switches and a tv remote. Having an ipad in every room its no wonder they need the charge so much for so small rooms. The outlets are far away from the bed too. only the person sleeping closest to the door can charge and use their phone in bed. If the person sleeping window-side is low-battery, then good luck because you will either need a really long cord that will also cross over the other person or a portable battery charger. Very strange design choices overall and controlling everything from an ipad was fun for...
