Hotel bars should not have the look, feel, and (bright) lighting of a breakfast restaurant but this one does. Sat down at the bar to order dinner and drinks while on a work trip. Bartenders clearly at odds with one another, bickering and directing each other to patrons who are waiting for service. Bar was at 30% capacity at most. The only IPA on draft was "out", everything else was a lager....weird. Female patrons asked to repeatedly, and loudly, give their room # and last name, well within earshot of other patrons. As a guy, this made me uncomfortable. One bartender spoke so quietly people had to repeatedly ask her what she was saying. The other was constantly disappearing into the back room. Canned and bottled drinks were handed out without offering glasses, those sitting at the bar next to me had to ask for a glass. Had to ask not 2, not 3, but 4 times to get my check. Check brought out and had only one beer instead of the three I had ordered. Service and atmosphere was so bad I didn't do the ethical thing and correct the mistake.
As a business traveller and Marriott elite status member, this is easily among the very worst on-property restaurants/bars I have...
Read moreI stayed at the hotel and grabbed dinner tonight to use the 30 dollar "credit" you get with your 30 dollar a day resort fee. I sat outside by the marina. Nice seating area, weather was great. I ordered the picanha steak rare. The brussel sprouts were great but that's about it. The steak was the worst cut of meat I have ever experienced in my life. It was so tough I almost threw it off my plate trying to cut it. Each piece I managed to get into my mouth required chewing like my life depended on it to not choke to death. I had no idea beef could be that tough. I told the waiter who said he would tell his manager but nobody ever came out. I ate less than half, spent 60 bucks after tip and then went to the lounge to eat the free buffet. Save your money and go eat somewhere else. One pic is of the steak and the others are what I ate from the lounge. The seafood risotto in the lounge was...
Read moreDuring a recent stay at the Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel in Miami, my wife and I dined at the Gold Coast Kitchen. I ordered the Octopus, which came with potatoes, cherry tomatoes, onions, and what looked like a chimichurri drizzle. My wife opted for the Cheeseburger and fries. My dish was disappointing because the octopus tasted like it was precooked and reheated. I assumed that the potatoes would be hot, but when I inquired, I was told that they were supposed to be served cool. Having eaten freshly prepared octopus in Portugal, I know what perfectly cooked octopus is supposed to taste like. There is no comparison. Considering the overall cost of the meal and the location of the restaurant, I was hoping for a better experience. My wife...
