In regards to the disappointing service offered to me and my family this Thursday August 12th while in a stand up comedy show.
I personally was a server for over 5 years in a few exclusive and known restaurants in the heart of the Chicago downtown, honestly I have never attended a bar/ restaurant where customers where Expected to provide an estimate of 40% of their bill in gratuity. While requesting My check tonight, the waitress that assisted our table stated â here we donât have detailed receipts, just this paperâ ( pointing at the little receipt that the portable cashing device provides, the one that is meant to be signed).
I do my math and calculate that certainly my bill should not have exceeded the $72⊠the charge I received was for $90⊠when I go ahead and asked my waitress â Is there any tip included?â.. she reassured to me a big ânoâ. I went ahead and provided an extra $18.90 (which represents the 20% of the bill received)âŠ. When I asked multiple people from the staff to talk to a manager, nobody was able to direct me. When I confronted the server and re asked for a detailed check, she gives me one and, indeed, there had been a 18% gratuity added (this mandatory addition is not mentioned in the menu by the way). When I ask the server âwhy did you tell me gratuity was not included in my bill? She reassured that this 18% exclusively corresponded to the -tip out- for bus boys and food runners.
So, I am very surprised that Iâve never seen any other food establishment where tip has to oscillate around the 40% of the bill â in order to actually have the server receive any type of paymentâ. Most -tip outs- percentages for bartenders/busboys/ food runners oscillate between 5-8% in the most exclusive restaurants.
Expecting customers to tip 40% of their bills is an extreme and even disrespectful assumption. I wanted to bring this to the management attention if possible and would appreciate some...
Read moreThis place does not deserve any star. Our concert tickets were for 8pm on the stand up side to see Los amigos invisibles. The show started at 1.00am we stayed stand up more than 5h00 before the show starts and we even left at the beginning of the show to be reimbursed because if we would have stayed for the concert we would have been 7h00 stand up. I guess they are expecting you to consume like never. The manager is absolutely rude and call the body guards because we asked her to be reimbursed, she screamed at us because we asked her to pay attention to us as she was not considering our customer request. The clown that was making the humour presentation (2 times) to make fun of the situation of Venezuela was absolutely pathetic especially in the actual context. He also read 2 times the companies who were sponsors of the event. I think it was very abusive. I will go to see the amigos insivibles in better condition. Furthermore this place is done for 400 persons according to the fire department and it was absolutely packed more than 600 or 800 persons. So I don't it think they are respecting the regulation neither. You will wait very uncomfortable in a very hot placed and completely compressed by people and even not an announcement of the show time and an apology. This is really uncomfortable situation. Please avoid this place at any costs even if you are able to see your preferred veneziuelians artists these people are taking advantage of the situation. The place is not safe, out of price and the manager Absolutely insane. A very weird way to treat customers and use ethnicity and nationality to do business. (I'm not Venezuelian). Very sad for a so good band that I really love to play in so bad places Los amigos Invisibles really deserve a concert room that respect their public and at the level of their...
Read moreMy answer to the owner: Since I can not respond to your answer I'm editing my review. I'm reporting the business to BBB Better Business Bureau. The owner is saying that me and my friends move chairs in purpose, that is not true and also she say to me in a call that the Guard man did not ask us to excuse the place in his name by the time that we left. The lady also said that Alex the manager suppostly was treating us good because he keep his hands by himself when a person to treat bad another do not have to move a finger. The main Idea of this that is the first place where i have been and the staff argued with the costumer and the supposed boss prefer not have the clients back instead to safe sorry. I wrote the review because Honestly I never ever in my life has faced a situation like this. Now I'm very frustrated because there are defamation again us. In fact I don't think that one cup in a table would be a big dirt that I personally cleaned after the Alex the manager laughed at me and told us that we were even changing the structure of the place, of course they have one table on top of the other, when the place is completely full you have to move your legs every time a waiter comes with food. I really woul appreciate if somebody out there can help me with this. This is my first time in the theater. And I don't think i will come again unless I receive apologizes from the Management. Specially Alex if it is true the name that he gave me. Alex treat me so bad and try to threat me saying that I have to leave the place. the worst is that everything was because we were seating in a table that not belongs to us. And the manager of the place argue with me a woman as another...
