⭐ SCAM. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. BEWARE! ⭐
My husband, our 1-year-old baby, and I had an event in Miami, so we booked what we thought was a nice stay at the Hyatt Regency Miami. We live in Naples, so we drove over expecting a smooth experience. Instead, it turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences ever.
First, the booking process is misleading. Their “website” is actually run by a third party, not the hotel itself. I was charged $223 for a suite with a king bed, balcony, breakfast, and parking included. Sounds fair, right? Wrong.
When we arrived, parking was a nightmare. The hotel has valet, but since I booked with parking included, I expected a real hotel lot. Instead, I was told “the hotel has no parking.” Their version of “self-parking” means “go find your own public parking near the hotel.” We wasted time in Miami traffic trying to figure this out before finally giving up.
Then came the balcony issue. Our room on the 17th floor had a balcony—but it was sealed shut. When we asked for a usable balcony (since that’s what we paid for), we were told the hotel doesn’t have any accessible balconies at all. So why advertise it? That’s like saying a room has a kitchen you’re not allowed to use—meaning you don’t actually have one.
Next morning, I went down for breakfast, which was supposed to be included. The waiter offered me a choice between the à la carte menu and the buffet. Naturally, I chose the buffet. The food was terrible: watery yogurt, rubbery bagged eggs, barely edible. Service was nonexistent—only coffee was offered. Then I got a bill for $43.50 for a tiny plate I barely touched. When I called the manager, Mr. Rodriguez, instead of apologizing, he sat at my table to defend the charge, even making comments about me “sharing food with my baby” as if that excused it. Completely insulting. Eventually, he removed the charge, but the unprofessionalism was unbelievable.
At checkout, I spoke with another manager who finally admitted the “official website” is actually a third party. Her apology was to give me a $5 discount—on what, I’m not even sure, since I’ll never return.
In Naples, we stayed at the Bellasera Hotel, a true luxury hotel where you actually get what you pay for. At Hyatt Regency Miami, it was all lies, hidden charges, and awful service. For just $10 more, you can stay at the Hilton next door, which actually has balconies and multiple pools (I could see them from my closed balcony window).
⚠️ Do not waste your time or money here. SCAM, poor service, false advertising. Spend your...
Read moreMy recent stay at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, Florida, left much to be desired. While the hotel was decent overall, it was far from being worth the exorbitant price tag attached to it. I have stayed at much better hotels for a fraction of the cost.
One of the major drawbacks was the outdated rooms that lacked windows. While I understand the safety precautions behind sealing balcony doors, the absence of fresh air coupled with an old-smelling carpet created a terrible odor in the room, making the stay quite unpleasant.
The food options at the hotel were another disappointment. Prices were incredibly inflated, with a shrimp salad containing a mere three shrimps costing over $30.00. As someone who doesn't mind spending for quality, this felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of guests.
Adding insult to injury, breakfast was not complimentary, further contributing to the feeling of being overcharged for everything. The pool area also fell short of expectations, resembling more of a motel setting than a luxury hotel. It was small, poorly maintained, and lacked cleanliness.
Moreover, the rooms were in dire need of renovation, showcasing a lack of attention to detail and modern amenities. While the lobby was presentable and clean, the ongoing construction detracted from the overall experience.
The ceilings in the bathroom were low, which created a cramped and uncomfortable feeling. Adding to this discomfort was the old shower curtain, which only added to the outdated ambiance of the bathroom.
Furthermore, there was a significant problem with the bathroom’s shower pipe leaking, leading to a constant mess and inconvenience during showers. The overall temperature control in the room was also a major issue, as no matter how much I adjusted the thermostat, the room remained freezing cold. In fact, it felt colder than the mini refrigerator, which made for a very uncomfortable stay overall.
These combined issues made the room feel suffocating and far from the standard one would expect from a hotel like the Hyatt Regency. Considering the reputation and price point of this hotel, such shortcomings were highly disappointing and impacted my stay negatively.
In conclusion, the Hyatt Regency in Miami may have its positives regarding the luxury look of the lobby and the convenience of the location, but until significant improvements are made in terms of room quality, pricing, and overall guest experience, I cannot recommend it as a worthwhile choice for...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at Hyatt Regency Miami for Formula 1 and his 30th birthday. Originally we had 2 nights booked, but extended an additional night because we loved the hotel so much!
Room We were upgraded from 2 queens to a Panorama King Suite, and it was amazing! The room was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed: Mini fridge TV with cable + casting from personal devices Noise-canceling machine (a lifesaver during Formula 1 weekend!) Office area: desk + chair with coffee maker Iron + ironing board Comfy king bed with lots of pillows + additional blanket Plenty of storage space for luggage Robes and slippers for the ultimate luxurious experience
Despite the lively streets outside, the noise machine worked perfectly — we slept peacefully all three nights.
Service Every staff member we encountered was kind and helpful. Special shoutouts to: Abagail (concierge) – helped us stay in the same room when we extended our visit. I really wanted the same room with view and setup Miguel (Grab & Go) – very thoughtful. I picked up my panini late and without asking he reheated it! Such a simple act went a long way because it tasted better hot. Destiny (concierge) – very polite when reissuing our room key since we had a 2pm checkout
Dining We ate most of our meals from the hotel and were really impressed: Great variety and portion sizes Prices were comparable to nearby restaurants Super convenient to order online and pick up. Or you can do room service Whole Foods is right across the street for extra snacks or groceries
Remote Work I had a full day of work + attend virtual meetings and was pleasantly surprised by the free Wi-Fi — it was fast and reliable, perfect for working remotely (which is rare in hotels!)
Amenities Gym: Basic equipment- great for a quick workout Pool: Spacious area with cabanas and lounge chairs
Location You really can’t beat the location: ~20 minutes from Miami International Airport On the Miami River, with beautiful views Walkable to Bayfront Park, Brickell, Pier 5, and more CVS + Whole Foods across the street Citibike rentals right outside
Overall Experience No complaints or disappointments. This stay checked every box for me — location, comfort, service, food, and remote work setup. I’m already planning to come back and bring my mom next time! The Hyatt Regency Miami team truly made our...
