ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR GUT!! (Facebook Post) Le Bistro at River's Landing
Yesterday I went to this new restaurant that opened adjacent to the French bakery I like. I actually learned they have the same owner as I walked to the restroom to wash my hands (Step 2)- I always wash my hands at a restaurant before I eat because of coodies and if it is nasty, I will leave the restaurant and not eat the food. I can just kick myself because I did not follow my (Step 1) which is never eat at an empty restaurant. If no one is there, it is for a good reason. I walked into the restaurant at 6pm ON A FRIDAY.. YES, PAYDAY FRIDAY.. IT'S THE WEEKEND FRIDAY... and I was the only customer (red flag). I figured the restaurant just opened so it has to grow in popularity. The place was beautiful, nice atmosphere, music, clean, smelled good, and my dog was welcomed. The Mexican restaurant next door had a sign "no pets". I decided to order. I was at River's Landing which is a upscale shopping complex with high rise condominiums by the Miami River. Parking is free for 2hrs and it has the closet Publix and Pet Supermarket by my house "win win". I am there at least twice a month shopping, eating, and socializing with other dogs with Goshy.
Back to my (Step 1)..... Usually I can tell a good restaurant if the parking lot is full. Inside this complex mall by the food court, no parking indicators. I noticed the Mexican restaurant was packed (inside and outside seating) because an office group look to be celebrating someone. My restaurant was completely empty (red flag). I override those senses in my brain to give it a try. The menu was reasonable and the waitress was super friendly. I order a mushroom burger for me, which came with fries $21, and a vanilla milkshake $12 (THE BEST I EVER HAD). I ordered a side of steak meat for Galoshes $13 because the vet took him completely chicken. As my food came, three other people ordered but they sat in the outside seating area in the food court. Goshy and I was seated inside by ourselves. The food was actually the best I've had. The burger was excellent and the thin cut French fries were sooooo good. The only problem was the waitress served us water out of a chilled glass fancy water bottle but it was clearly tap water (Step 4). I hate restaurants pretending to be fancy and served you unfiltered water. Even Goshy didn't drink the water she put on the ground for him in a to-go soup cup. The bill was $57. When I went to pay, she brought the credit machine to my table and I noticed the tip choses were extremely low. I asked her why the tip were showing so low, and she pointed out that on my bill the 18% gratuity was already added (Step 3) and red flag. I don't like auto gratuity because some staff will under perform. I immediately got uncomfortable because they were low key trying to trick me into paying an additional tip. NOT COOL. I choose "no tip" since it was already included. I left the restaurant, people watched with Goshy for a while, did my grocery shopping, and went home satisfied. I even bragged to my family that I found a new restaurant that is going to be "my spot". 4 HOURS LATER I was on the toilet every 2hrs all night with diarrhea. It got so bad that around 4am I woke up my oldest son to see if he had any left over stomach meds from his emergency trip to the ER after he visited a Sushi bar two months ago. Regretfully, I don't know why businesses no longer focus on quality which is a key indicator for a business to successfully attract and retain customers. It does not matter that at first glance my experience at "Le Bistro" was excellent, I got severely sick shortly after my visit so I'M NEVER GOING BACK THERE.

Read moreTried to give this place a shot, but honestly? It’s giving bare minimum wrapped in fake luxury. They clearly want to be posh—but the customer service? Nonexistent. No one cracked a smile the entire time, and asking for a glass of water felt like I was requesting a kidney donation.
I had a Nutella Danish and a latte at their café, and let’s just say…the highlight was the moment I left. The food was aggressively average, and the vibe? Cold. If you’re going to charge upscale prices, at least serve a smile with it.
Disappointed but...
