I needed a quiet place to work when I stumbled on this place in the heart of Miami. I nearly walked right by it because the exterior is so unassuming and humble, a very nice break from the excessive pretentiousness and busyness of Miami. Once I entered, I forgot I was in Miami, which was very nice. I found an excellent representation of Portuguese cuisine and hospitality. They offered me a cup of coffee and a traditional sweet pastry free of charge, but I insisted on paying, treating me much like family. This gesture reminded me of when my uncle, who is from India, had his own restaurant and I felt like I was among my own family. They always walked by with a smile. I stayed for 3 hours working...I did not want to leave! When I asked if they could lower the volume a little bit for some calls I had to make, they did not hesitate or refuse to accommodate (I could not talk comfortable outside from the loud traffic). After this, I discovered some great Portuguese music, like Fado Dançado by Ana Moura. Very cozy inside and the crowd here was so genuine and normal. I ordered the Juliana Soup and another cup of coffee. Not only the best display of Portuguese kindness, a representation of Miami's best charm that hides behind the noise of urban bustle. A beautifully tranquil experience in the middle of an city jungle. I will be back again for a full breakfast and the allure of an escape...
Read moreI waited one hour for my food when my entire family had already finished their meals. Asked for limes for my water 3 times (my son had to get up and ask the third time). Once my son asked about my meal, we found out it was forgotten. Then after another wait, they FINALLY brought meal when we had been ready go home for 30 minutes. Also, our server disappeared and never came back, so we had to ask a different server.
Now let’s just sweeten up this a little! When my meal arrived, we asked for the check, and asked that they remove the charge for my meal because it never came until we were about to leave. They agreed. We paid, boxed the rest of my meal, and went to the car. As we were about to back out of the parking lot, the server who originally agreed to comp my bill (after getting approval from her boss), came out to our car and said “my manager says that if you’re taking it you have to pay.” We couldn’t believe it. I immediately rolled down my window and gave back the meal that they’d taken an hour to get me. If they were going to chase us down for $16 for a horrendous experience, it wasn’t worth arguing.
We couldn’t believe the manager sent the server out to chase us down instead of approaching us personally!! To ask us to give it back!! Seriously!! I waited for a literal HOUR FOR MY SUBSTANDARD FOOD!!! Zero for...
Read moreGreetings, fellow foodie’s and like-minded yum enthusiasts. I stumbled upon coming to this bakery for the second time and not on purpose both times that I came. I found the food to be overpriced and not worth it as far as the value or flavors. I ordered a chocolate mousse. That was the smallest chocolate mousse I have ever seen in my life. The cost was over seven dollars, and the consistency was drippy not a proper moose and not worth the price and definitely tiny, tiny tiny it’s almost embarrassing some of the serving sizes that are being given out especially on this one. I also wanted to try one of their soups so I went with one of their house, soups that featured vegetables and cabbage. This soup was extremely bland and overpriced to the point of not even wanting to eat the soup after paying the exorbitant amount of money for it so I paid $25 for a teeny teeny teeny tiny chocolate mousse, and a teeny teeny tiny uneditable soup. this was the second and last chance that I have given this bakery. I have nothing else to see here or do here. There are so many choices in Miami, but I ended up there one last time with someone who didn’t explain to me where we were going. I will be paying more attention in the future. Good luck...
