I wish I could give Mayami Wynwood zero stars because that would be far more fitting for the disgraceful experience I witnessed here. This is by far the worst and most appalling encounter I’ve ever had at any establishment in Miami. Their behavior was blatantly radical, racist, and beyond unprofessional.
Let me explain exactly what happened so you understand why I will NEVER come back to this place and why you should seriously reconsider ever setting foot in Mayami.
We were in line waiting to get inside, and everything seemed fine until we noticed something horrifying. One of the men in line ahead of us, a well-dressed African American gentleman, was denied entry without any valid reason whatsoever. He was dressed completely on par with the venue’s supposed “dress code”—clean, stylish, and definitely appropriate for a nightlife spot like Mayami. Yet, the bouncers looked him up and down, smirked, and simply said, “Not tonight.” No explanation, no courtesy, just pure, blatant discrimination.
At first, we thought maybe there was some kind of misunderstanding, but it became crystal clear as we watched how they treated other people in line. They were letting in groups of white and Latino patrons wearing nearly identical attire without batting an eye. Some of them were dressed more casually than the man who was denied, yet they walked right in with no issues. It was absolutely disgusting to witness such overt racism happening right in front of us in 2025. How can a place like this still operate with such discriminatory practices?
When the man calmly asked why he wasn’t allowed in, the bouncers doubled down on their disrespect. They gave him smug, dismissive responses and acted as if his presence wasn’t welcome at all. Meanwhile, the crowd around us started murmuring, clearly uncomfortable and aware that something seriously wrong was happening.
This wasn’t just a one-off situation. It became increasingly obvious as we stood there that this venue has a toxic, exclusionary, and deeply racist atmosphere. They make it painfully clear who they want inside and who they don’t, and it has NOTHING to do with how someone is dressed or how they conduct themselves. It has everything to do with race.
I am completely disgusted by what I saw that night, and I refuse to support an establishment that engages in such vile, exclusionary behavior. Racism has no place in Wynwood, in Miami, or anywhere in the world, and the fact that Mayami is still getting away with this nonsense is beyond disturbing.
To top it off, the overall vibe of the place was tacky, overcrowded, and overrated. The staff was rude, the music wasn’t anything special, and the drinks were overpriced and weak. Even if we hadn’t witnessed that horrendous act of racism, I still wouldn’t recommend this place because it simply doesn’t live up to the hype.
If you care about equality, decency, and treating people with basic respect, avoid Mayami Wynwood at all costs. There are plenty of other places in Miami where you can have a good time without supporting racism, elitism, and blatant discrimination. I will NEVER be back, and I hope this review makes others think twice before giving this place their time or money.

I wish I could say my experience at Mayami Wynwood was unique, but after seeing what others have gone through, it’s clear this place has a serious issue—and I saw it firsthand.
What I witnessed that night was nothing short of disgraceful. It’s rare that I feel compelled to leave a review like this, but I can’t stay silent after seeing how this establishment treats people. The behavior at the door was disgusting—flat-out racist, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.
While in line, I saw a well-dressed Black man—better dressed than half the people they let in—get denied entry without a single valid reason. No explanation, no decency, just a cold “Not tonight” and a smug look from the bouncers. He handled it calmly, but the way they dismissed him was infuriating. Meanwhile, other groups—white and Latino guests in similar or even more casual outfits—were waved right in.
You didn’t need to be a genius to see what was going on. The pattern was obvious. This wasn’t about a dress code—it was about race.
It was uncomfortable, upsetting, and frankly enraging to witness. People around us were clearly picking up on it, whispering to each other, asking what was going on. The vibe shifted immediately. It’s 2025—how is this kind of blatant discrimination still happening, especially in a place like Wynwood?
And let’s be real—even without the disgusting behavior at the door, Mayami is seriously overrated. The place was overcrowded, the music was mid, drinks were watered down, and the staff (beyond just the bouncers) were rude and dismissive. There are dozens of better places in Miami that don’t come with a side of racism and elitism.
If you’re thinking of going here, think again. And if you believe in basic respect, inclusivity, and human decency, you’ll take your time and money somewhere else.
Shame on Mayami for allowing this kind of culture to exist. It’s time for people to start speaking up and holding places like this accountable.
