Miami Food Recommendations & Avoidance Guide

1-800-Lucky operates with a cool, hawker-ish setup to create an electric ambience for diners. There's an outdoor section with beautiful lights and lanterns, a VIP section which can be reserved, music and dance space, and a bar; if you pass into the covered, slightly enclosed area you see the 6 little food "stands," one of which is a full sushi bar in the center of the room. There are tables and seating spots scattered throughout the available space, and it's a little quieter inside than out, something to be aware of if you'd prefer to sit and talk than to stand and dance. The staff are hyper attentive at clearing tables when you're finished eating, and you can get up and move freely to different stations to order food-the readiness of which you're informed of through texts or buzzers they hand you when you order. The sushi was excellent, and there are simple options for purists and jazzed-up experiments for the audacious. The dim sum options were really tasty and come piping hot, all the better for whetting your appetite, so I suggest you start off with some shrimp or shrimp and chive dumplings to share with the table, before everyone breaks off to order their own things. The bubble tea was happily present, but not particularly mindblowing; it's a treat when you're missing it but not a destination for it. I thought the same of the fried chicken sando-Miami has better foodtrucks for this- but that could have just been all the food catching up with me. The bone-in chicken wings came were beautifully displayed and came with a cooling honey sauce, with an option for a really good sriracha-mayo type condiment. I would go again! It's located in wynwood and you can get a car or you can drive - there's quite a lot of spots alongside the adjacent streets if you're willing to park and walk. It's a cool place to hang out, but make sure you go early if you don't want to have to wander around for seats, especially if you're in a 2+ people group. It's beautiful, bright, lively, and worth visiting; and if you choose according to your tastes and do some research, the food will be well worth the trip as well.

Food: 3 STARS The food was fair. I went with the famous pork belly buns. I was excited and expecting a great outcome but was slightly disappointed when I went in for the bite. The pork was a slab of fatty meat covered in sauce. I've had way better pork buns elsewhere. The real winner here is the ice cream we went with the classic vanilla Taiyaki cone. It never fails. ALWAYS A HIT. It's a must if you come here. The fried rice was made well and tasty at the same time. It wasn't overly saturated in salt or sauce. We also decided to go with the pan-fried pork Gyoza as an appetizer, which were really good, and I highly recommend. Service: 4 STARS The service here was great! As we asked different vendors for recommendations, they were quick and friendly to give their top rated dishes based on what we were looking for. When I was unsatisfied with the pork buns, the server was quick to replace the meal for a different choice due to my dissatisfaction, which I greatly appreciate it. Ambience: 4 STARS This place is a great meeting spot for groups or simply as a hang out location to grab some good food and drinks. We decided to come here on a Saturday afternoon, which surprisingly was not busy. The food court style and courtyard set up makes for a great atmosphere, especially with the live DJ. Overall 1-800 lucky is a good spot for a quick bite or to grab drinks with friends. What keeps us coming back is the Taiyaki ice cream cones!

Man, this was pretty rough. The vibe and look of the place is undoubtedly good and the PR team has done such an excellent job and I applaud them for it but execution wise in terms of food, unfortunately below par and sad. As Asian I was so excited to come and support. Usagi out of the 3 establishments we ordered from was the most decent one. We ordered their supposedly 'best ramen' but it was a little bland and felt the broth was under seasoned. We ordered the pork buns from Yip because they already ran out of the shrimp and pork shu mai in the afternoon and the buns were just okay. The saddest thing is the pork barbecue from Jeepney. It was almost a 40 minute wait (to the point where we were contemplating on canceling and walking out) and when it finally arrived, it wasn't pinoy pork barbecue. It was masquerading as one. My goodness that was the most dismal attempt for a pinoy barbecue despite the availability of ready made Filipino barbecue marinade sauces. This one used a distinctly tangy barbecue sauce that would have been fine if it was also half decent as a barbecue of whatever kind but we literally didn't even finish it anymore. What's even more disappointing is smiling while you're ordering at Jeepney and saying I'm always supporting Filipino restaurants but was met by two blank stares of both people manning the booth/store. I get it they're not invested, who cares right? But it all adds up to the experience. I've eaten at Maharlika here in NYC before (same owners of Jeepney I heard and they were pretty good) so my question is what happened with Jeepney in Miami? Something isn't right and I really hope they fix that for the business to survive. P.S My husband told me that I'm being generous and this should be a 1 out of 5. If you look at my reviews, I'm pretty generous and detailed but I also tell it like it is because I'm here for authenticity and making sure everyone gets value for their money so here you go.

First, how do you run out of peking duck at 12:45 pm? Please tell me Lotus + Cleaver. What can I say about Les Banh Amis? If you are looking for an authentic Bánh Mì, don't come here. They don't make Cholula and they put hoisin sauce on the sandwich. Really? Vietnamese people would cry if you gave this to them for free! But wait there's more, mint leaves? On a Bánh Mì? I don't give a good god damn if you have opened 5, 20, or 100 restaurants, you haven't opened 20 Bánh Mì sandwich restaurants! This place is like going to a burger joint and ordering a burger with wasabi mayo! The girl working there taking orders, seems to be there only for eye candy, nothing more. I also noticed the staff at most of the places are very arrogant and rude. Especially at Les Banh Amis (they only accept positive reviews and know everything, remember that). The pork buns were delicious, and the matcha ice-cream on point. Probably the best I've had. When parking to come to this overrated place, be sure to lock your car doors and take any valuables with you! I think it is wonderful to have a food hall here in Miami and expose people to different cultures and food, but please don't say something is authentic when its NOT! Btw, to the people at Myumi, there is not such thing as "blue fish tuna" and YOU DON'T SERVE AMBER JACK RAW! Just wow!
