My recent visit to el Patio, intended to celebrate two birthdays, left a sour taste in my mouth due to an extremely upsetting and discriminatory situation. Our group of six arrived at the establishment to celebrate. Server advised to purchase a bottle to secure a table and enhance our experience,we agreed since we were thinking about it anyway. However, what followed was an unfortunate series of events that tainted what should have been a joyful occasion.
After buying a bottle and settling in, we were informed that we needed to move to another place near the entrance because our table was supposedly reserved for those purchasing a minimum of two bottles. This was particular upsetting considering we were already a group of 6, with 3 more friends on their way. -( While these friends who arrived literally when we were about to be moved paid their cover charge, they did purchase drinks and eventually after being moved to the bleachers, a champagne bottle as a gift for both persons having their birthdays.)
The situation escalated when we were forcibly removed from our table. Server appeared wanting to cash out when bottle was still more than half filled, the pressure and the constant approach had us not only annoyed, upset but nervous and with anxiety that we still where drinking our bottle. Our server's behavior was discriminatory, unprofessional she provided us with a false reason, claiming that another party had reserved our table under the condition of purchasing two bottles due to a supposed minimum requirement, we had to move out or security will move us. However, our server excuse was proven to be untrue, as we later discovered that the very same individuals who were seated nearby with just one bottle were the ones given our table. Their purchased notwas $140 more expensive than ours, so I guess she just wanted that service charge of our table. This contradiction in the facts not only highlighted the server's deceptive behavior but also cast serious doubts on the legitimacy of the actions taken against our group.
Amidst the chaos, a staff member who seemed genuinely compassionate tried to help but was powerless against our server's decision. He expressed his apologies for the unfair treatment, acknowledging that our situation was unacceptable. Unfortunately, he couldn't overturn our server's actions.
The transition to the new table was rushed and chaotic, leading to an unfortunate accident that resulted in our bottle being filled with water from the melting ice bucket. This translated to $320 going straight down the drain, adding to the frustration and disappointment. Our group was unfairly treated. We made the choice to stay since we were nine people and had still beer buckets remaining, and make the best of the situation, determined not to let the discriminatory treatment ruin our celebration.
Throughout the ordeal, I repeatedly asked to speak to a manager, hoping to address the situation and find a resolution. However, my requests fell on deaf ears as a manager never made an appearance, saddening since when we had to move table they kept coming to our table, after that everyone dissapeared.
Management's negligence and the unjust actions of a staff member can severely impact visitors and tarnish the reputation of what should be a vibrant and enjoyable venue. The discriminatory treatment, deceptive practices, and lack of accountability greatly overshadowed the venue's otherwise promising ambiance, excellent music, and our time as a group there. No one should pay for "services" like this.
So wrong to take advantage of your costumer.
Our experience returning to EL Patio was a true disappointment, SHAMEFUL & WASTE OF DOLLARS. I hope the management takes steps to rectify these issues and ensure that all patrons are treated with fairness and respect, regardless of the situation. Its clear some people working here do not care about the customers at ALL! I feel SCAMMED and DISGUSTED of the treatment I received and hope this reviews warns you to be CAREFUL with...
Read moreI don’t really like to do this but I’ve to share, I lost my 14k chain there. Me and my friend saw one of the waiters pick up the chain but never thought that it was mine, it actually happened on my feet where he picked it up. Like an hour later I went to the bathroom and realized that I didn’t have my chain on me and told my friend that the chain that was picked up was mine. I politely came up to the bartender which she was really nice and ask her if I can see the manager since we saw the actual guy picking up the chain. Long story short the manager comes up to me and the first thing she says is oh MAN THIS IS THE SECOND TIME YOU DO THIS TO ME. I looked at her like first of all this is my first time here so I have no clue of what you are talking about and she keeps persisting with a really bad attitude, stating to stop doing that and to file a police report if I wanted to get it back since her employees will never do that. I shared with her to low her tone bcuzzz I wasn’t looking for arguments and that there was no needs to file a police report since she can check the cameras, she was just with no intention to help neither at least check the cameras. She walks away and then comes back with the guy that picked the chain and showing a bracelets and saying that that’s all he found and that he picked it by the entrance to the left which it was behind us. I was like sir it seems that you are on the need of the chain it’s ok you guys can keep it we clearly saw you picking up the chain in my feet but it’s ok you guys can keep it. I think that the manager is Colombian, the vibe she gave me was a straight up racist vibe and judging by the cover by not knowing with whom she was dealing with, which it is just so sad that people like her can handle a management job. This crew have to understand that we are in the USA not in Colombia where they think that they are better than others. Get it together Colombianita you work in a bar not in a...
Read moreI recently visited El Patio and unfortunately had a rather disappointing experience. Upon arriving at the venue, I was denied entry due to what I was told was a violation of the dress code, specifically regarding wearing shorts. Strangely, I noticed several people entering and leaving the establishment wearing shorts without any issue. Mind you it’s 7pm, still daylight and almost 100 degrees out, it’s Miami.. people wear shorts.
When I pointed out this inconsistency to the bouncer, I was met with nothing more than a dismissive shrug. The manager Alfonso saw everything go down and didnt intervene or say anything. The lack of a clear explanation or attempt to address my concerns left me feeling disheartened and frustrated. It's disconcerting to experience such discrimination based on a perceived dress code violation, especially when the enforcement seems to be applied unevenly. If the dress code says NO SHORTS then NO ONE should be allowed in wearing shorts, the bouncer was cherry picking based on skin color maybe?
The incident not only marred my impression of El Patio but also highlighted a need for better communication and consistent policy implementation. It's essential for any establishment to treat all patrons fairly and respectfully, regardless of their appearance. I was treated differently maybe because I’m black. The couple in front of me were both wearing shorts and the bouncer let them in no problem.
I hope that El Patio takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to improve their customer experience. Discrimination of any kind has no place in today's society, and it's my hope that incidents like these can be prevented...
