Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Middletown

I ordered bourbon street steak meals car side to go and they were extremely well done. The time before that my husband and I ate inside the Applebee’s restaurant in Middletown Ohio and it was the worst experience ever our food was overcooked and the margarita my husband ordered from the bar had a hair in it and when we showed the server he said he would get a new one, not only did the red headed bartender have her hair down but she got nasty with the server over having to remake it but we could hear her from the table we were sitting at near the front door. When he brought it back to the table it had no alcohol in it what so ever, he offered to get a new one but we declined and left that one sit. Keep in mind that people working in restaurants are supposed to have their hair up when working around food. I spoke to Manager named Chasity after submitting a complaint on the app, she kindly helped me and gave me a $80 credit for the next time we ordered. The day after another manager which was a male called me to check on my complaint because he said it showed nobody had followed up, I explained to him that Chasity had followed up and I told him a way to make sure the To Go steaks don’t overcook and he said if that works it would be a good changer. I called Applebee’s in Middletown Ohio today June 29, 2025 to redeem my credit, the first time I got hung up on by someone named James so I called back and he actually stayed on the phone but wouldn’t honor the credit that was given to me. Applebee’s has seriously gone down hill it used to be a great family fun dining place that my family loved to go to but after 3 bad experiences we will find a new...

I love love love Applebees! But sadly I'm giving a 3-star because whether there about to close, or their eating on the clock, theres a small select few that will appear a little irritated you came in. Not really say anything, but you can always tell they would just rather not be there. 7 out of 10 times my food is hot and tastes great! But the other 3 is maybe once or twice a month it seems like now my order is being made wrong. I get the food industry, so I always try and be patient never knowing if it was me or them, or whatever but the past 2 times I got take-out everything was made perfect, until I got a brownie bite. The best way to be able to describe how they brought it out was the equivalent to burning something in the microwave, that burnt smell like they heated it up and left it in way to long which is disappointing it wasn't fresher then I had hoped, and the complete outer part of the brownie itself was literally as hard as a rock, NO JOKE. But I will give it to them that everytime a problem has arrived, they have tried to handle it with being friendly and understanding, so that is what keeps me coming back and loving the food and options. It's not every visit, but I've learned to not come in later in the night like 10pm on, because more then once after that time you could hear the people in the back in the kitchen either arguing, or how the bartender who just got a to go order needs to quit accepting more customers cause they're just "dying" to go out to smoke a cigarette, their words not mine. Even with all the TVs you can still hear at least 1 of them, but I combat that with trying to come in sooner then 10pm...

I usually frequent here with my twin brother- We eat here at this location multiple times a month and spend about $25/ea (per person) a visit. The food is hot, portions are worth the pricing, and service is fast. Although it seems as if I always have a new waiter/waitress everytime I'm there, it's always a bright smiling face happy to serve the table. I usually order steak (which I'm not picky about- I'll eat it anywhere from well done to rare, so I just tell them medium), and garlic mashed potatoes. This entree combo is so tasty and a good portion as well. My brother's the beer drinker out of the two of us- and he says the [draft] beer (bud light) is always cold and delicious; I can testify that it is.Dishes are always clean- and enviorment is friendly and family oriented. The soft sound of people talking almost blocks out the music (if they have any), creating a nice place to just relax with you friends, co workers, a first date, or even by yourself! Anyone giving this place LESS than a 3 star review is either over exagerating, or did happen to get bad service the ONE time they visited. Although the food isnt always "perfect", it looks delicious and tastes delicious...hoot food is hot, salads are crispy and fresh, chicken is always tender and cooked...so, what's the problem? Service of the staff is always awesome. PLEASE give this location another try if you only been here once (or not at all). The restaurant itself is clean and parking lot...
