Lunch at Brew Bakers — When Vietnam Crashes the BBQ Party (and Everyone’s Better for It) I’m always on the hunt for a meal that breaks the mold, and today, I struck lunchtime gold. A little birdie (named Facebook) whispered in my ear that Brew Bakers was serving up something special. Enter: the Brisket Bánh Mì — a glorious culinary mashup where slow-roasted brisket pulls up a chair at the Vietnamese flavor table. We’re talking tender sliced brisket lounging on a rich, velvety layer of pork pâté (aka the umami MVP), crowned with a crunchy, zingy crew of pickled radish, carrot, and cucumber. A soy-Sriracha aioli drizzled on top gave it a creamy little kick, and the fresh cilantro brought the brightness like it had just come from yoga class. But let’s talk about that French roll — crusty, chewy, and sturdy enough to hold all that flavor without falling apart like me in the third episode of The Bear. It was the unsung hero of the whole thing: not flashy, but totally essential — like the drummer in a great band. Every bite hit all the notes: tangy, creamy, crunchy. A true yin and yang of flavor that made me want to high-five the kitchen and write haikus about pickled vegetables. Brew Bakers always brings the good vibes, and this brisket bánh mì was no exception. 10/10 would eat again. Probably tomorrow.

Brew Bakers is EXACTLY what we needed as we gathered our wits at the end of a red-eye flight into Bradley International. From the second we stepped through the door we felt welcomed by the staff and ready to dig in to some breakfast. The bagels looked great, but we opted for more filling fare. My wife ordered the French Toast which was perfectly grilled, thick-cut toast with just the right amount of syrup and powdered sugar. The warm fruit variety really sealed the deal on this one though. If you have a sweet tooth, or if you know someone who will let you steal a bite or two off their plate, I'd go for it. I opted for the more basic breakfast plate that was healed with generous portions of scrambled eggs, five strips if crispy bacon, perfectly-seasoned diced potatoes, and four wedges of wheat toast that were certainly better than the breads I'm used to at a basic breakfast joint. As I said, the staff was welcoming and friendly. The counter area and tables were all very clean and well-kept. I nearly deducted a half star because our first cups of coffee were very watery, but when we got seconds the fresh brew was up to full strength. :) My only complaint is a lack of pancakes on the menu - but when you do french toast this well, I suppose you don't need pancakes at all.

The atmosphere is really relaxed and upbeat, which is really nice. The staff is kind and helpful in getting your order. They have a little lounge area with art and available seating which is an additional perk. Outside seating is available as well. Inside they have certain things available to buy in a lil cabinet. Very nice, clean, welcoming place. Food-wise, the hash brown is really good and has great flavor. The Western omelette sandwich was great and the caramelized onions added an extra dose of flavor. I would definitely come back to try more food offerings and enjoy the atmosphere

Brew Bakers is an upscale breakfast and lunch eatery with HUGE picture windows all around that create a bright, spacious dining experience. The blonde wood accents give the interior a welcoming warm glow. Sidewalk dining is also offered in the warmer months and is extremely popular among it’s loyal clientele. There is even a dining section that features a large table that easily seats 6 or more. It’s perfect for a family feast, girls luncheon, or even a meeting outside of the office. What is interesting about this restaurant is that it is ran by three chefs that have worked in the past at 5 star establishments - both in Connecticut and in Europe. Therefore the overall vibe of the restaurant and the menu is ‘European’ - but far from snobby - It’s better described as funky-eclectic-fun!!! I have eaten numerous times here - both inside and takeout. I average at least 3-4 meals at month from Brew Bakers. The sandwiches are phenomenal - from the classic Rueben, Roast Beef or Turkey sandwich to the fabulously different Swordfish BLT, Chilean Chicken sandwich, and oh so yummy Bratwurst sandwich - there is something on the menu to appeal to all taste buds. The Panini sandwiches are nicely done too. Meaty .... or not - cause the Eggplant Panini is delicious. The fresh salads here are works of art too. Each is chock full of fresh veggies and incredibly leafy-green-lettuce that is not wimpy and wilted, BTW - you will really enjoy their Chicken Caprese salad and their basic-but-fabulous tossed salad. I also love love love the ‘Chef Josef’ burger - it includes delectable sautéed mushrooms. And for vegetarians there is the AMAZING HOUSE MADE ‘Veggie Burger’ .... it features a homemade veggie burger patty, caramelized onions, field greens, tomatoes, and creamy pesto mayo on a lovely grinder roll. I am a big meat eater and even I love this meatless burger!!! There are wonderful wraps - including an Ahi Tuna salad wrap as well as a BBQ Pork wrap. Plus Brew Bakers offers breakfast — from soft, chewy bagels to artfully made breakfast fruit platters to yummy breakfast sandwiches - like their incredible ‘omelette’ to their breakfast wraps - ‘Quesadilla’ and ‘Corned Beef Hash Omelette’ are my two favorites. I have also tried their homemade soups and loved them. And they offer a very nice selection of deserts that go well with their legendary coffee - or finish off an amazing meal. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal here. Everything is made with care and with the freshest ingredients. You won’t be disappointed. *They also offer catering. Which I have tried with my family before and we really enjoyed it. Their ‘Box of Brew’ is fabulous!!! For either a family gathering, get together with friends over deserts - or even for a meeting - the ‘Box of Brew’ is well worth the $22 and serves 10-12 small cups of Brew Baker’s amazing coffee in 6...

This place has the worst customer service I've ever encountered. Me and my husband used to get breakfast at brew bakers every friday for about 2 months. I liked their sweet potatoes. The staff never really paid any attention to us. The girls working would flirt with customers they recognized before getting our pastries or coffee but that part was whatever to me.

So while I like the potatoes, I did not like their coffee. Me and my husband would eat breakfast there and then go to a different place for coffee. Well last time we went, we came back with our coffees and sat at one of their outside tables (there were probably 6 tables and 2 were occupied so we sat at the very last one). An employee came out and saw us and screamed from the door "Are you kidding me? You cannot have that coffee here! You better throw that away right now, this is not allowed!" To say the least, we were incredibly embarrassed. She literally screamed at us in front of other customers, people walking down the street and even some people inside heard and were staring. After I did notice they had a sign on the door saying no outside beverages or food was allowed in. I wrote a letter to the chef/owner explaining the situation. She could have just come up to us and calmly informed us, we would have been cool with that. Well the owner never got back to me, I looked him up and turned out the disgustingly rude employee is his wife. I refuse to give money to a place that treats their customers like this. They're also the type where you need to ask for a key to use the bathroom, you must rpove you bought something to eat before they will give it to you. This food is not worth the...

Ok first let me say that I read that review about Crystal. I happen to know that Crystal had a back injury that week and was working with a great deal of pain. Secondly, this place is so far beyond fantastic, magnificent would not be too strong of an adjective to employ. The quality of the food, the cleanliness of the entire establishment, the warmth and friendly atmosphere contributed to by some of the most beautiful, intelligent and just about the warmest welcoming staff in the business is far, far beyond compare to anything in the greater Middletown area. My wife, Sally, introduced me first to Brew Bakers a few years ago. We would stop there religiously as a kind of reward for her after blood testing at the Middlesex Cancer Center up on Saybrook Rd. Also I would ALWAYS bring Sally there whenever she had been released after a brief stay at the hospital for coming down with a fever after chemo. Eloise and Josef are the owners and they are platinum treasure in both our books! The girls are beyond beautiful: both in their warmth, friendliness, kindness to us, and just plain off the chart beauty [both inner and outwardly so]. Both Sally and I have been so blessed by the love of God that has flooded us each thru this beautiful restaurant. I am so fortunate to call these girls and Eloise and Josef my dear friends, I just love them so much they have brought light into my darkened world after the loss of my loving wife. So often I have longed to put my arms around all of them collectively and hold them to my heart, for I live perhaps because of their...
