My family and I tried various selections like the ‘Meatball Plate’ - ‘Eggplant Fries’ - ‘Fried Cheese’ and traditional ‘Buffalo Wings’ for our starters. Each one tasted incredibly fresh and homemade! I really liked the Eggplant Fries - they were freshly hand-cut, breaded and fried - then served with a side of nicely seasoned Marinara sauce that added just the right taste ‘kick’ to the Eggplant. The Buffalo Wings were okay. Not the best ones I have ever had, but certainly far from the worst. I think their sauce needs a little more work, but the wings were still enjoyable. However, the person that assembled our order for takeout forgot the extra blue-cheese leaving the 4 of us to squabble over a tiny 1-2 ounce takeout container of blue cheese. And believe me - lol - the argument got ugly! Who doesn’t love the proper Buffalo wing to dipping sauce ratio - right folks!!! My Mom had what she always calls her ‘yummy’ Mondo meatball plate. The meatballs ARE totally homemade, tomato braised and served on delicious garlic crostini. She refuses to share every time we order from Mondo. And who can blame her! For myself I had the ‘Fried Cheese’ - it’s 4 triangles of crispy breaded mozzarella served with the Mondo freshly made marinara sauce. Sheer tasty perfection!!! For our main meal we shared a large ‘Spicy sausage and Spinach’ pizza and an order of ‘Baked Chicken Penne’ - which was oven baked and topped with mozzarella — a very satisfying dish. I just love gooey melted fresh mozzarella!!! And the light tomato sauce the chicken and penne was tossed in was fantastic tasting too .... OH — and the pizza! I can’t forget to tell you about that! Mondo is legendary for their traditional thin crust pies. And the ‘Spicy Sausage and Spinach’ did not disappoint! The Italian sausage is tongue tingling ‘hot’ - but not to the point of discomfort. The creamy ricotta and grated cheese topping provides just the right amount of counterpoint to the hotness of the spicy sausage. For desert we shared an order of ‘fried dough’ - normally a kid’s menu item - but we spoke to our server and she got the chef to make an adult size order for takeout that 4 could share. It was the perfect ending to a delicious...

Out of all the places I've had pizza in Connecticut, this has been, by far, my most favorite.

Their pizzas are thin crust style. I usually don't like thin crust because it is either hard like a cracker or soggy like wet cardboard. Monda was different! Their thin crust was crisp, but also chewy at the same time. It really made a great base for the pizza. It wasn't just one of the pizzas either. All 3 of the pizzas my table ordered had creat crust!

Now the flavor of each was impeccable as well. I felt like being eccentric and ordering the Truffle Pizza. This ended up being a wise decision, as the pizza was savory(from the red onions), but also had a delicate sweetness to it (from the truffle honey) that really culminated in a fantastic experience. The other pizza my friends ordered were great standard pizza, with great flavor as well.

Even their sandwiches were fantastic! The turkey avocado sandwich was made with the same expertise as the pizzas. The ciabata had a crisp crust and chewy dough. The flavor and texture of the sandwich was great! I didn't feel like the texture of the avocado took over the sandwich, and the flavor of the turkey and other ingredients was blended well, with balanced proportions.

All in all, I would definitely recommend you try this restaurant when you have the chance. We had great service, with great food, and a...

We have been in Middletown for a few years now and just recently we stumbled upon this restaurant and thought to check it out. YUM! We went for a typical pizza and it was gooood and then we asked for a NOT so typical pizza and they recommended the pistachio one on the menu and I know that sounds so different and you're probably like whoooooo in their right mind would try it?! I highly suggest you do! It's meaty tasting, flavorful and even though it takes a few bites to get used the idea of what's in it .... lol ... You might be pleasantly surprised and then addicted! Just saying, try it!!! Hints of sweetness too and salty sweetness from the cheese. Overall, the place has very dim lighting so we loved the ambience and I have to say it was super clean too. Looks nice inside and modern so definitely a nice hangout spot for all ages to go, relax and eat up tasty food. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Definitely would go back again and pretty soon! We have tried other pizza places in Middletown and this would be our...

Mondo’s is wonderful for their Happy hour prices but food can be a hit or miss sadly. Service is wonderful! Alcohol beverages— They ONLY have beer and wine which is unfortunate if you prefer mixed drinks. The white sangria is good depending on the day. Apps— Mozz Triangles were not the best but tasted as though the fry oil DEFINITELY needed to be changed, had a little of a fishy taste. (Was not a fan) Meal— 2 Slices, pepperoni was in good standards. The fresh mozzarella slices are a hit or a miss. Previous times were filled with Mozzarella, this time only one and a half slices of mozzarella on each piece of pizza which was utterly disappointing. My friends enjoyed their tomato basil slices but as seen in the photo, a friend was disappointed in the amount of mozzarella on her slice as well. Regular cheese slices are good but sometimes the bottom is BURNT BLACK. Overall a good place for the price but some days the food is worse than others. Hopefully you go on a good day!

Well, folks, I’ve been to quite a few pizza joints across Connecticut and beyond, and let me tell you—Mondo lands smack dab in the middle of the pack. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad pizza. It’s good, even. But it’s the kind of good that doesn’t exactly stick in your memory. Eating there gave me flashbacks to the old Roman Delight spots that used to be up in malls—familiar, safe, and satisfying enough when you’re hungry, but not the kind of pie that makes you rethink your favorites list. The dough had some chew, the sauce leaned standard, and the toppings were fine, but nothing really hollered out “this is the one.” After working my way through so many places, you start to notice who’s swinging for the fences and who’s just bunting for base hits. Mondo plays it safe, and for a lot of folks, that’ll be just right. For me? I’ll say it’s middle of the road—solid enough if you’re in town, but not a destination if you’re chasing the best of the best.

Just a quick update! Are they the absolute best for pizza and beer? No however since we started going semi regularly they’ve always been consistent! We’re never disappointed and that says a lot these days. Still recommending them even in the pandemic in 2021 I’m always nervous to try a new place for my birthday but it was near impossible to find something open on Labor Day. Needless to say none of us were disappointed! Our drinks were perfect (they did not skimp on the wine! 😌) with an impressive beer selection. We got such an amazing spread of many different foods, (large portion sizes = leftovers! 😋) I ordered a calzone which exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth dining there and can’t wait to return!
