I recently moved to CT, in Berlin area, but we came back from the Clinton outlets, I waited FOREVER for my server ( an older woman I forgot her name) to come over to take our order on a Thursday night everyone was very stressed out and seemed to be frantic, when me and my husband were out for our anniversary. The service was mediocre, I understand, restaurants get busy but there was not a lot of customers,, but I came to relax and enjoy a nice meal which I heard great things about this place since I usually go to Fuego and a very loyal customer at that in Cromwell CT since it’s closer to my house, I figured I would try Puerto Vallarta, because I heard some good things about it, my food came out after waiting a while it was BURNT I mean to a crisp I don’t understand how she did not see it. And my frozen margarita was watery right as she bring it over as if it was watered down from the start. My husband had a draft XX beer no foam which is NOT A BIG DEAL AT ALL but my frozen mango maragarita was completely watered down it was 1/2 frozen and 1/2 not I could’ve just ordered it on the rocks.

Honestly I was really excited about trying this place because I heard good things but I just can’t understand paying 25 (before tax) for a burnt steak, and 19 for a watered down frozen margarita, I have NO problems with spending but this place is did not seem worth it, my husbands fajita chicken quesadilla was burnt on one side and seemed to me as if they just flipped it over while plating. I was overall really dissatisfied and disappointed I find it difficult for me to be retuning. I am not sure if they are understaffed or this is just the level of service they provide. I will be going back to other restaurants to spend money because this place is just no worth it for what I received service wise and food quality wise...

I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at this place was so off-putting, I had to speak up.

I came in to confirm a simple question: Does the fresh guacamole come with chips? I was calmly discussing this with the host because I noticed I had been charged an extra $5 for a small bag of chips. Instead of getting clarity, I was interrupted by an employee named Alex — a tall, white woman with long eyelash extensions and visible tattoos — who inserted herself into the conversation uninvited and in an incredibly passive-aggressive and rude tone asked, "What is the question?"

I tried to explain that I just wanted to understand the policy — not argue — but she cut me off repeatedly, fake smiling and brushing me off while insisting I had ordered extra chips (I didn’t) and that chips never come with guacamole. She then said the only way to get chips with guac is if I dine in — otherwise, it’s an extra charge. At no point was this communicated clearly when I ordered.

The attitude, the lack of professionalism, and the condescending way she handled a basic question was enough to make me walk out empty-handed. I left my food behind and will not be returning. If this is how they treat customers asking simple, reasonable questions — with arrogance and hostility — I’d suggest you spend your money elsewhere.

Completely...

DO NOT have catering done by Puerto Vallarta in Middletown! I called on a Monday to place my catering order for 25-30 people on a Saturday at 1pm. The order wasn't big or complex, simple beef & chicken tacos with the fixings. I spoke to the manager on-site that day and I thought everything was good. He didn't ask for a deposit, but takes my name and my phone number and said it'll be ready Saturday 1pm. My sister goes to pick up the catering order only to discover the Saturday shift/crew are not aware of any catering order for Saturday. Panic mode ensues! They offer to make our order, but our party starts at 2pm. This is very unprofessional and that manager needs to be held accountable. Nothing could be done at the time, so we had to walk away disappointed, but I was sure to write a review of this experience. They lost out on a $500 catering order and a frequent customer!

I'll admit, I should've called early that day or before to confirm, but was occupied with getting the party ready. The food is great, but don't have them cater an event. This experience was enough for me...

Authentic Mexican Flavors & Incredible Hospitality! Puerto Vallarta in Middletown is hands-down one of the best Mexican restaurants in Connecticut! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with vibrant decor, warm hospitality, and the irresistible aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re craving sizzling fajitas, street-style tacos, or their legendary guacamole, every bite tastes like it came straight from Mexico. The service is always exceptional—friendly, fast, and attentive without being overbearing. It’s a perfect spot for date nights, family dinners, or catching up with friends over a delicious margarita. This place is a gem. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great food and great service! Warm regards, Dennis Schleicher YouTuber with over 90K subscribers and content creator on Instagram

I'm sure everyone has been to one of these already! While decent I was never blown away. This is just a solid place. This time though was a little different. A big fan of their refried beans, this is the first time they did not taste "too salty"! I wish I had twice as much this time. As for my chimichanga, it was fine, solid meal. Though I do wish this came in pork or dark meat chicken. (I don't think any place uses enough dark meat! ) Nonetheless this is good food. You can't go wrong with anything here. I may have a previous post on this place? If you haven't been or are uncertain if you would like this type of food I would recommend trying them.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The decor is artistic. I like their previous chairs which had a painted headrest. Each chair was like an art. I guess the new ones are more modern look. This was my first visit after more than a year because of the COVID-19. The food was as good as before. Very tasty and fresh. The service was good even that was a busy night. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The food was in a large portion. Glad the business is back to normal.
