I’m giving this restaurant one star because I can’t give it no stars. Last night my husband and I stopped there to get dinner prior to a movie. We ordered our meal first and because we had to wait even though we were not planning on having appetizers, we ordered two appetizers. When I asked the waitress to bring us a box for the appetizers, she brought the check over. I was a little confused because we had not yet had our dinner. She said she did not hear our dinner order although that’s the first thing we ordered. At this point we only have 20 minutes to make it to the theater and we have not had dinner. Which is why we stepped in there to begin with. As you can imagine, we were very upset. I asked to speak with the manager Josh. He quickly came over. I explained the situation. He proceeded to tell me that he could discount the appetizers, but he couldn’t do much more because he wanted to make sure that we were not taking advantage of them. This was extremely upsetting seeing that now we’re being insulted on top of not being service properly. He also told me that the waitress was there way before him and that she’s pretty good. Meaning he did not believe that we placed our dinner order. Which was the main purpose of us going to the restaurant to begin with. I have never been to a restaurant where a waitress forgets to place or may I say better that she did not hear us order it. The restaurant was not crowded or noisy, so I’m not sure what she was listening to when we placed the order. All in all I do not recommend this restaurant. They are not at all attentive. The curry puffs were overcooked and the spring rolls were regular nothing to write home to...
Read moreThe place is pleasant and the service was very friendly and quick. I only went one time passing through town. No complaints about the appetizer, the curry puffs.
My main dish, pineapple fried rice, needs some work. I wouldn't say it was saucy but the texture was not like fried rice at most restaurants, it was quite soft and a bit mushy. The pineapple was piping hot and would be better served cold or room temp.
Apparently they are under new management and everything is now vegan, and I think people will be confused. Some meats are described as vegan and others are not, but apparently it's 100% plant-based. They list separate options for vegan beef and real beef. So are they offering six kinds of vegan protein and one that isn't? Or is the real beef not actually beef? Anyway whatever I ate, the vegan pork, was kind of soft and rubbery and did not taste much like the flavorful pork you expect in fried rice.
I also had some peanut sauce on the side, and what they serve is not like typical Thai peanut sauce. They have something very pale and creamy that is smooth and sweet but not very peanutty tasting. Then they have something that is like the sweet chili sauce with lots of ground peanuts mixed in. Neither is what you would expect with something like, say, chicken satay.
Lastly, the price seemed a little out of line. 30 bucks for the appetizer and fried rice. They have lunch specials where you can get any kind of fried rice for 10 bucks, but that doesn't include what I had, so probably they shouldn't call...
Read moreMy partner and I stopped in on a whim 2 hours before closing. They were quite busy and continued to get busier the closer they got to closing. There was only 1 waitstaff worker serving all of us (takeout and eat-in) and they handled it with grace. The service might have been slow, but the atmosphere and attitude (and sense of humor) of the worker made up for it by leaps and bounds. I felt welcomed, and the wait was entirely understandable given the staffing situation.
With that in mind, once we got our food it was better than we could have imagined. I would have waited twice as long for half as much food- it’s really that good. I’m not sure that you could get a bad meal here, based on the praises we heard coming from other tables as well. When we considered dessert, we were warned there would be a wait and we worried about the impending closing time (about 30-45 min), but the staff member assured us it would be worth it if we weren’t in a rush. We waited about 45 minutes for the bingsu and my god… it was well beyond worth it. When we finally left, after an appetizer, meal, and dessert, it was 30 minutes after closing and they were still serving others with a smile on their face. My partner and I are getting married in about a week and I think we found where we’re getting dinner after the wedding. Thank you for a...
