📍Inn at Middletown We were invited for a staycation at the @innatmiddletown. From their website: The Inn at Middletown is dog-friendly! Our animal-loving staff is dedicated to making every single guest - pampered pets included - feel right at home. Restrictions apply. Pet Fee: $50/day The Inn is located on Main Street within walking distance to many restaurants, bars and shops. We had a great time hanging out in Middletown. Overall, we would stay here again – we were there for an event and were overall comfortable. Our important criteria is a good night’s sleep so comfy bed with a quiet room, strong internet and good water pressure. The front desk had a nice tray of cookies. The parking is not obvious but was explained by the friendly front desk staff – there was plenty of spaces out back and there is a hotel entrance door nearby but you need a hotel key. We had 2 adjoining rooms without much of a view. Definitely would not want a room on the bottom floor near parking – anyone can look in so your shade is drawn the whole time. The hotel and plumbing may be a bit dated – the toilets have those tanks on the back and one room didn’t work great. The hotel seems well located at the end of a strip of restaurants so getting a great lunch and dinner is very walkable. The police station is 1.5 blocks away – multiple times we had homeless folks ask us for money along this walk. The hotel’s ice machine worked well. We didn’t use the swimming pool or the gym. The mini frigs proved useful and were operating well without overfreezing but the only microwave is in the lobby. We would not eat or drink again at the hotel or Armory – while the breakfast was full and tasty it’s really overpriced at $25 per person and don’t get me started on the Armory $45 for 2 beers and a glass of wine which tasted like swill with no ambiance and a bartender who kept disappearing with less than 5 customers! We knew they were going to charge us a night’s deposit fee so that wasn’t a surprise. As others have indicated, they have some extra fees but ultimately it’s about the same overall cost as a nearby hotel chain. We try to keep things in perspective in our reviews.

Our second visit here last night and a year later for the same awards dinner was once again beautifully decorated for the Christmas season and there was good service throughout the event. Appetizers were set up on tables and brought around on trays by staff. There was a variety of cheese and crackers and vegetables and hummus on one table. Loaded Yukon potatoes with cheese bacon and onion and sour cream in a bowl and skewers of cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and kalmata olives in olive oil on another table. A long stone counter had both hot and cold drinks and platters of desserts. A separate area for alcoholic beverages from wine and beer to mixed drinks. Servers brought around fresh shrimp, buffalo chicken bites, hummus on toasted pita bread with minced vegetables and a couple of other things. Dining was done in a separate room and awards were presented in another. Gas fires burned warmly in fireplaces throughout the Inn. # Very handsome building in the center of town with a separate Tavern downstairs. The conference rooms were very nice and the buffet food put out for the event we attended was delicious. Guests had the choice of hot meat entrees or various sandwiches with different fillings and bread. Well decorated for the holiday. Great place for groups to meet.

WARNING TO OTHER BRIDES DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! Here is the email I just sent to the manager about our disastrous stay here. We had a room block for our wedding weekend. On Saturday, we had booked a room from 5-5:30 to do our rehearsal, we went down to the tavern to have a quick drink beforehand, the bartender while at first she was nice, quickly became overwhelmed but then was very rude and unprofessional. She was on speaker phone making drinks for our party yelling at someone on the phone, literally screaming "HELLO?" crouching down behind the bar to talk on the phone. Our group went down to the rehearsal room, which was locked, when I checked in no one mentioned if I needed to have a special room key for this or what the deal was, luckily a worker was walking by and was able to let us in. After the rehearsal our party went back to the tavern for a few drinks to be met with the same angry bartender who did not know how to make any drinks, she was googling how to make common drinks. She kept taking guests' cards and walking away, we had to hound her to get some of the credit cards back. We all went down to Esca for our rehearsal dinner which ended at 9:30 and came back to the tavern for a glass of wine to end the night as it was still open, the same bartender moaned and groaned when we walked in and said "here's a bottle of wine TO GO" since she did not want us in there. Given the extremely expensive rates our guests paid as well as it being Labor day weekend and my literal wedding, I expect good service for myself and my party. This was nothing of the sort.

After our wedding on Sunday, we had our after party booked in the tavern from 11-1 AM. I had NO issue with sharing this space with the other after party, however, there was a sign as guests checked in on Sunday that said our after party was on the second floor. No one had made me aware of this change but given both after parties were on the larger side potentially the hotel thought it might be a good idea to split things up or give us more space. This was NOT the case, I had to go up to the front desk and ask what was going on and they just said it was a "misprint" so I had several confused guests running upstairs and some that even left to go home because they were confused. The hotel did not try to redirect people appropriately or put a sign on the second floor of the mistake. Our party then went into the tavern which had been completely taken over by the other after-party, which again I would have NO problem with if one of the bartenders tried to make an effort to assist our party given I had to pay a designated bartender fee for another bartender to be there for 2 hours. Instead of trying to accommodate us, they told us to go "try and get a drink" which is not a good solution. I was also trying to ask the front desk manager how the bar was supposed to know that my party got to the $500 minimum so I wouldn't be charged the difference and he shrugged his shoulders and said he "thought" it was collective between my party and the other party, which again no one made me aware of. Given all this chaos, my party ended up sitting on the restaurant side of the tavern and begged the bartender to just bring us out some bottles of wine so that our guests didn't have to wait hours for drinks, especially since we only had 2 hours. At this point, some of the guests were so fed up they just went up to their rooms, left, or went to another bar, which was devastating to me given this was my WEDDING NIGHT. The other after party proceeded to bring in a GIANT speaker and drown everyone out with Taylor Swift music which is insane, what kind of hotel bar allows guests to bring in a giant speaker and play their own music? Towards the end of the night at 12:40, the front desk manager told us we had to leave, which again made no sense since the after party ended at 1 AM. N Nothing made any sense, was complete chaos, and honestly was a nightmare ending to what otherwise was an almost...

This restaurant has been recommended to me many times by several people but unfortunately it was a great disappointment. With all the options in the City of Middletown this was definitely one of the worst I've ever had. I invited 6 guests to join me for dinner for the holiday season. It took over 30 minutes to be asked what our drink order would be. When the drinks finally came out after another 20 minutes of the seven cocktails that were ordered only 6 came out and we had to wait another 10 minutes for the 7th drink. So after 45 minutes our order was finally taken. One of the guests from the table went to go ask what was taking so long and she found out there was only one bartender, one waitress, and one line cook. Really on a Thursday night with a few large parties and that's all you have on duty? Oh and not only that the manager was off that night you do not leave a staff of only three without a manager to step in and pick up the slack. Finally after an hour and a half our appetizers came period after a little over 2 hours are meal game. With great disappointment most of the food was lukewarm and potatoes were ice cold. Vegetables or not cooked and tasted awful and the spinach was loaded with salt that you couldn't even put it in your mouth. Oh yes I'm going back to the cocktail order one of the drink words was completely wrong of what was requested it wasn't even what we ordered. Two of the people had different drinks that required carbonation in their drinks and they were flat. And instead of getting a regular Coke we got a Diet Coke. Now we did not blame our waitress because honestly she was lovely Pleasant and wanted to do everything she could for us because truthfully it wasn't her fault so she had no support whatsoever. For the price that we paid for 7 people for dinner it was simply not worth it. Food was part two mediocre and a huge waste of money. We were asked if we wanted anything for dessert and there was no way we were going to do that we actually went elsewhere and had coffee and dessert because the meal was enough of a nightmare of what we had to go through. I have absolutely no problem in paying for a meal and even if it is a little higher price than some other choices within that City but this was so not worth it not worth it at all a huge disappointment for a night that we were all excited about it really burst our bubble we will never be going back there and when asked to recommend restaurants in the City of Middletown that will be one that I will recommend people not to go to. This was a belated Christmas celebration for some dear friends I live out of state and we've been through some hard times with loss in our family in the last 5 weeks and we wanted to celebrate their lives and it's unfortunate that this was a big mishap. Somebody needs to look into what is not happening at this restaurant and management needs to be completely blamed. My recommendation is avoid this restaurant at all costs you might as well just open up your car windows and throw a few hundred dollars out the window because that's what we did. So unfortunate and it left a very bad taste in all...

We stayed here for my cousin's wedding at a nearby venue. We were part of a wedding block.

Let's start with the pros: rooms were lovely, public spaces looked nice, employees were friendly and helpful.

Cons: #1 - Parking is a joke. The lot behind the hotel is mostly reserved for other businesses. The front of the hotel has a little horseshoe driveway where they have valet parking. Unfortunately, the hotel had 2 wedding parties that night which means they were busy and there were buses and shuttles taking up space so nobody could even pull into the driveway without impeding traffic on Main Street. Nobody was able to explain to me where we were supposed to park. We lucked into an unassigned space in back but we would have been screwed if not.

#2 - A fire alarm went off in the middle of us getting ready for the wedding. We were only half dressed and had a schedule to keep to meet our shuttle and we had to evacuate. I would understand if it had been an emergency, but we were told by multiple employees that the fire alarm was triggered by a guest using HAIRSPRAY too close to a smoke detector. Not a hair dryer, not a flat iron, HAIRSPRAY. We were told the fire alarm goes off all the time when people use certain appliances such as an iron too close to them. Curiously, there was mechanical work being done while we were there...

#3 - As I said, there were 2 wedding parties at the inn that night. We tried to go to the bar after we returned from the wedding around 11:30. It wasn't too busy. There was a single bartender and no server. We couldn't even all get drinks. Then the other party started coming in and more people from our wedding came in and it got VERY BUSY. There was nobody to help the bartender, no manager, no server, nobody. It was impossible to get a drink. The girl looked like she was going to cry. We gave up and went back to our room.

#4 - Again, at breakfast, there was only a single server. She was trying but she was not keeping up, even though the breakfast restaurant was very small. There was a manager walking through occasionally but she didn't seem to be doing anything to help.

I realize this is just after the inn reopened from COVID so I'm hoping they're just trying to get back up and running, but this was really a very poor experience and could have been much better if the place was being maintained, managed, and staffed...
