The food was acceptable enough, but I have never been at a restaurant with such poor service! The whole time we were there (which was roughly 30 minutes), we felt unwelcome and as though the servers were trying to get us out as quickly as possible. The restaurant was still going to be open three more hours, so it wasn't near closing time and we were one of three parties present, so it wasn't that they needed the seats for other customers. The first five minutes we were there, we were asked three times if we were ready to order. The first two times, we said that we were still deciding; the third time, we just ordered something off the menu to be able to tell them something. Dinner came quickly, which was nice, but the servers never came to check how the food was after dropping it off. We also had to ask to get more water; they didnt stop to check on the table between dropping of the food and bringing the check. The ramen broth was a little bland, but the portions were hearty. It would have been nice to have some soy sauce to add to remedy the blandness, but there was none available on the table. My husband finished his ramen first, and while I was still eating, they brought aforementioned check. They did this without asking if we were okay or wanted dessert, which further made us feel rushed out. After we paid the bill, we were gathering our things when they came over to clear the table; when I was trying to grab my phone off the table, I had to wait for the server to collect the dishes because she had come in between me and the table before I could completely grab my belongings. There were some inaccuracies in pricing; the boiled egg was 60 cents more (which I can see with increased grocery prices), but when we ordered the squid pancake, it said there were four pieces when there were only two relatively small pieces. It was also a dollar more on the bill than it was on the menu. We don't get to eat out very often, but I usually enjoy it when we do. Tonight, though, we left appalled with an icky feeling about the whole experience. I usually give most places 4 or 5 stars, but I felt I had to share just how disappointed we were with the whole experience. If you do carry out, you can probably avoid some of the issues we ran into, but the food isn't good enough that I would waste my time and money ordering...
Read moreSo, I convinced my family to dine at Fujiya Ramen tonight because of the positive Google Reviews. Big mistake; I should've checked Yelp. Being Japanese myself, I can say with complete conviction that the noodle soup I ordered was absolutely NOT authentic Japanese ramen, despite the very Japanese name of the restaurant. The overpriced tonkotsu ramen was incredibly flavorless; the broth had no hint of being prepared with pork bones or kombu, which gives real Japanese ramen its creaminess, depth and flavor. The curry we ordered tasted like curry, but the chicken it came with had an odd texture, as if it wasn't really chicken. I don't even want to know what that mystery meat was. The miso soup that accompanied our curry and my son's Gyu Don dish, similar to the ramen broth, was also missing actual miso flavor. My son remarked that the soup "tastes like slightly flavored water," and after sampling it, he wasn't lying. They charge $13.50 for a very small kids meal that consisted of cheese sticks, fries and a tiny cubed fish stick bun. Not worth it. Bubble tea was served with way too much ice and not enough boba and at $7.50 each, was a total rip off. We were rushed to order despite no one being in the restaurant and rushed to pay, but thank goodness I looked at the check because we were charged for an extra bubble tea. We received no apology when it was removed from the check, and our lady server even tried to tell me the new check amount was more than it should be. I made her correct it with the actual price the check should've been. All in all, we spent an incredible amount of money for such underwhelming food. Trust me, please go elsewhere if you're looking for authentic and delicious Japanese food. You've...
Read moreSaw this place featured in a YouTube video hosted by daym drops. Had high hopes for it. When my son told me dad I want ramen for my birthday dinner, I said you know what how about this place. I showed him the video and he said looks good let's go. So we get there around 7:30 p.m the place wasn't really busy there was like 4 groups there. It was dark inside I guess setting the mood. But you cut see the menu. They only had 1 waiter who seem to be new and the lady who was running the place was yelling at him the whole time we were there. I ordered the sweet buns which honestly was the best thing we had. Crispy outer shell pillowy soft interior. We both ordered the spicy miso ramen. Now I'm now ramen expert but the lack of spice in the spicy miso ramen was ridiculous. I've had more spicy from a bag of chips to be honest. Also I ordered a brown sugar milk tea before ordering my appetizers and didn't get it until I was half way done with my meal and thats because I asked the dude " hey listen o know you seem to be a little overwhelmed but I never got my milk tea. The thing that made me come to the conclusion that I will never return was the fact that 1 of the appetizers that I ordered was brought to the wrong table and honestly I do t know how long it was there but I look over and I see waiter take the food from that customer put it with my other appetizer and bring it to my table. If it wasn't for my son enjoying g his experience he's been dieing to try, I would have left. But the waiter was trying his best so I left his a $15...
