This is the second time I've been here. It's been a while since my first visit. I was super excited to go this time as I couldn't wait to get to dessert! But first there was appetizers and main meal. I should begin by saying it seems the menu is going through a transition. There are some items that are being cut. One item is chicharrones. Soooooo excited to see these on the menu only to be told they are no more. With that huge let down we opted for quesadillas, not from the app section, but from the dinner portion because they offer a crab & bacon quesadilla. This was excellent, plus it came with refried bean as well as rice. I do have to say I was under the impression that this was a late night option but that wasn't the case. After being impressed with the crab & bacon quesadilla I was really excited to get my duck burrito! Wasn't expecting this on the menu so it was a must have. I'm a big fan of duck. Fortunately service was a little slow, or times just right? Not sure if it was meant to be or slightly poor service? But either way it worked out for the best. Upon receiving my duck burrito I cut into it and saw the beautiful duck meat inside. The seasoning really came through. Super happy at this point. But the more I got into this burrito the more it became the red onion burrito. The amount of duck inside was pitiful. My first bite had the most duck in it and it was hardly that much. As the realization was coming to light that I wasn't going to get more duck than what I in my first bite I was very disappointed. How can you call it a duck burrito with barely one bite of duck inside? This was to be not the last disappointment to be. So no chicharrones, barely any duck meat in a duck burrito, but the dessert I came here for had just sold out! This was middle/ late afternoon, there was no one in here but us. How this happens is beyond me? I was informed that someone was out getting more plus other things but I wasn't interested in waiting who knows how long. At this point I was over this place. It looks great, nice patio that we sat in. Cool looking interior, but just a little uncertain of what should be on the menu. There is a fair amount of items, they probably don't need all of them. I'm sure I'll be back here again, even if it's not for a while again. It doesn't seem to be the standard fair Mexican food so I'll try more. I just won't have high expectations for them.
The other meal in the pix is the steak fajitas. I had a bite of the steak and it was good. While i'm not a big steak fan it was perfectly done,...
Read moreExtremely dissatisfied and disappointed. If I could give a zero, I definitely would. My husband and I have ordered from la Boca and dined there since before the venue change a few years ago. Since the move to the other side of main street Middletown we have been continuously dissatisfied with this establishment. While dining in, there was a toothpick in my chimichanga and I was told it was because they were frozen and "sometimes that happens." We chalked it up to the move and decided we would give it another chance. The next time we ordered online and although the online system was very user friendly, when we got home, they had given us the wrong take out bag so it wasn't the food we ordered. But it was delicious so we got over it.
We ordered again after that using the online system. The order was correct this time, we checked before leaving. However there was mole sauce on the enchiladas instead of the cilantro sauce we ordered. Needless to say my husband made himself something else since he hates their mole sauce.
Sunday June 24th. Last time we will ever order from La Boca. We used the user friendly online ordering system. Ordered dinners we've ordered before to be ready at 9:30 (another perk of the system when reordering. It saves your past orders as favorites.) My husband was working on his father's car so it's nice you can pick the pick up time. We received the confirmation email stating when to pick it up. 9:30. My husband drives twenty minutes to pick it up on a rainy Sunday night. Gets there and they say there is a "glitch in their website system and they use a different menu at night." None of which is conveyed on their hours page or menu page on the website. it isn't started anywhere on their website. They also require a name and phone number when ordering online which was never called to explain the situation. So my husband leaves without dinner, now it's 9:30pm on a Sunday night. I'm not lazy or unable so I'm now making dinner but this restaurant needs some real leadership...
Read more(Last visited 5/7/2022.) It's been a heck of a drunken Saturday and we're ending our night off here at La Boca in Middletown! We met up with some friends here for a nightcap and here's how it went!
Atmosphere/Appearance: Settled right on the southbound side of Main Street is this gem. The exterior and outdoor seating section is very colorful, lined with bright flowers enclosed by a metal fence which makes things super inviting. Once inside you're immersed in industrial decor such as exposed brick walls, worn wooden floors, greenery above and simple wooden chairs with disconnected cushions. It's very comforting and not over the top. The restaurant is elongated so once you walk in the space goes on for a long time, but not very far to the left or right. A very simplistic and open design.
Service: I can't remember who took care of us and I also don't remember having any issues either. So yeah, moving on! Lol.
Food: I had a couple of delicious house margaritas that were pretty tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. For my late-light meal I went with something a little healthier, the Taco Grand Salad and I added some grilled chicken. The salad consists of a crispy fried tortilla shell filled with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, roasted corn, black beans, pickled jalapenos and queso fresco. I then added guacamole as well. It was fresh, filling, delicious and most importantly, guiltless. Lol.
Value: The salad on its own without any protein is $15.99. Adding chicken was an additional $3.00. It's a decent Mexican spot so nothing is terribly expensive, but the quality of the menu here is a bit better than other spots, so bring your checkbook, but you won't break the bank here.
In conclusion, I've never been here or even heard of it, but I'm glad I got the chance to stop in and...
