I recently stopped by Mr. Bachi Grill in Middletown with my lady, and it was a chill little spot tucked off South Main, near Sal Brio. We both ordered hibachi — she went with the chicken and lo mein, while I chose the steak with veggies and fried rice.
Let me start with the chicken and lo mein. Unfortunately, it didn’t hit the way we expected. It seemed like most of the sauce spilled out in the takeout bag, which definitely affected the flavor. The chicken tasted a bit bland, and even with the yum yum sauce, it still didn’t come together for me. Not sure if it was just missing something or if the sauce was the issue, but that part of the meal didn’t do it for me.
Now the steak? That was a whole different story. Cooked medium just like I asked — every single piece. Tender, flavorful, and easy to enjoy alongside the veggies and rice. The rice itself was cooked perfectly too — not underdone or overdone — with the right texture and seasoning that brought the dish together.
The vegetables were solid as well. Flavorful without being overly salty, which I appreciated because it didn’t overpower the other parts of the meal.
Overall, the steak, rice, and veggies were on point. The chicken and lo mein could use some improvement, especially when it comes to flavor and sauce handling. I’d definitely go back — just sticking with the...

Do yourself a favor and skip the grill tables in favor of this counter service joint. Day 1 and the wait was respectable with no hiccups noticed. Staff was very friendly & upbeat.
This time I opted for the calamari, chicken noodles, clear soup, & side of hibachi chicken.
Calamari: clearly a frozen squid product, but delivered on flavor
Clear soup: great flavor, but lacking mushrooms & spring onions
Noodles & chicken: again great flavor with lots of perfectly done (crunchy & well cooked) peppers & onions - I did get a bone in one of my pieces of chicken, but otherwise no complaints
Hibachi chicken side: well cooked with perfect hibachi flavor & good yum yum sauce. A little on the thin side for me.
Overall, we were very happy with our dinner choice and will...
Read moreNice new hibachi spot in Middletown. Their gimmick is that they're set up as more of a fast food style joint, so you don't get the tableside show but you get a lot of food for a lot cheaper than a traditional hibachi grill.
Tried the chicken and shrimp and the gyoza. The gyoza were...gyoza? Good enough for $5. The chicken and shrimp was excellent. Shrimp were well cooked. Hibachi entrees come with fried rice (A LOT of fried rice, and as standard, no fried rice upcharge), which was solid, but you also have the option to sub out either the fried rice or the hibachi vegetables for noodles. I got noodles instead of the veg and they were great.
Great take out option, I'll...
