9/17/25 Tonight we brought 22 residents from Swan Pointe HOA to eat at Samurai Sushi and Hibachi at 12905 Shelbyville Rd. Every thing was all set up for us. Then Ing, our waitress , took our drink orders and then they brought out our soup and salads. They were so good. Lastly we gave our food orders to our servers. Our Hibachi choices were Shrimp, Scallops, Salmon, Strip Sirloin, Chicken and Filet Mignon. Then out came Chef George with his food cart. Then the chef starts getting ready to start cooking and then he starts getting funny …..he grabbed an egg and asked one of the boys at the table if he could catch it? He said yes and then George, the Chef for our table of 11, tossed the egg to him. He caught it, but he realized that it was a rubber egg. So he tossed it back to the chef and then the chef put it in the top of his hat. Then he retrieved the egg from his hat and started cracking the eggs to make fried rice. As he would get little clumps of rice, he asked if people could catch them in their mouths? George didn’t quite get it into our HOA’s President’s Mouth (on purpose of course) then he flipped some fried rice clumps to his wife and she caught it. The young egg catcher from earlier caught his clump on his mouth, but his big brother was flipped a really big clump, and it came flying toward him, hit his cheek and crumbled. Next he started cooking the Steaks, Scallops, and Chicken breasts were cut into bite size pieces. He put our meat on our plates and the meal was absolutely delicious. Then he started cleaning up the grill and you probably would want him to come to your house to clean your grill and cookware. It was all shiny clean! We really enjoyed the Habachi presentation and we really enjoyed the food. I would love to eat there more often. It was fantastic! The owner of the restaurant is Ashley and our chefs were George (1st Grill) and Min (2nd Grill). Our Hostess was Tu and our Waitress -Ing. All of the staff was...
Read moreStaff and owner Ashley are extremely rude. They have messed up my to go orders countless times and then extremely rude about it after admitting they forgot part of the order. They tell me it will be another ten minutes and offer me nothing. And charge me for the spring roll that they forgot to ring up. I simply asked if they aren’t going to take care of it because of the inconvenience and the response was do you want it or not. We used to eat here a lot but service and food has gone down hill as they remove things like fish eggs etc from the rolls to save money then increase the cost of the rolls. After complaints they tried to put a cheap red fish egg on everything now that taste bad. They penny pinch so bad they will charge you for a sauce that they give for free when you eat in. My wife placed an online order and there is not a place to add side sauce so when I get there I asked for it and they tried to charge me $1 for it. They then told me it’s my responsibility to add it online when there isn’t a place to even do that. I had no cash or wallet on me as my wife paid online. They got so rude and told me I owe them a $1. I come back in 3 months later and they charge me $1 for the sauce 3 months ago.. Mind you this is a restaurant we used to eat at 3x a week and spent god knows how much money at. If w restaurant is this cheap god knows what other coroners are being cut. Terrible service and way to treat such...

Review Title: Discriminatory Treatment and Unjust Gratuity Charge
I’m extremely disappointed by the treatment I received at this restaurant. I was automatically charged a 20% gratuity, yet two other parties sitting at the same grill were not. When I questioned this, I was told it was because those customers “don’t come in the restaurant all the time,” which makes no sense and raises serious concerns about fairness and discrimination.
To make matters worse, I was told I should be able to afford it because of my jewelry and appearance—a completely inappropriate and offensive assumption that has no place in a professional business setting. This felt deeply disrespectful and discriminatory.
When I asked for a copy of my receipt to see the charge, they initially refused to give it to me, and I was told I was “obligated” to tip. For the record, I always tip for good service—but being forced into it under these conditions, especially when others are not held to the same standard, is completely unacceptable.
I won’t be returning, and I hope the management takes this seriously. Fair and respectful treatment should be extended to all customers, regardless of how often they dine there—or...
