I have been in this Frank Otte location a number of times this spring and purchased 6 shrubs on my last visit about 6 weeks ago. They have been looking poorly lately so I visited to see if Heather (very nice, knowledgeable) could help me troubleshoot. When I asked if Heather was in, the manager just said “no” and offered no further assistance. I told her I had a foliage sample I had wanted Heather to look at. Since she wasn’t in, I asked the manager if she would care to look at it for me. This manager, who has been rude on every visit, became very agitated asking, “why would I want your shrubs to die?”. I explained that I just didn’t know if she were a ‘clinical’ person or not and had just always worked with Heather. She became even more defensive saying that Heather wasn’t a clinical person and “doesn’t know any more than I do.” After this I promptly left. I will not return to this store even if it means losing the money I spent on these shrubs. This store operates independently of the Bardstown Rd store so cannot issue a credit. But during my conversation with the manager there, he told me they get frequent complaints about the Middletown manager. She is absolutely the rudest person I’ve encountered, and has no business being in a customer-facing role. Bad for business. I’ll still be a customer at Bardstown Rd. They’re nice...
Read moreI’ve purchased flats of begonias from Frank Otte’s that were so hardy the came back the next year. Hoping the ones I bought last year will do the same, but if not, I’ll still go back and buy them this spring. They last all summer and add such color to my landscape. The hydrangeas I bought with their coupon years ago are doing great! So heathy and big. Not every plant has been a hit, but enough are to keep going back. On two occasions the folks working there were a little grumpy, but I would be too working in the heat and dealing with even grumpier customers. I think the profit margin on plants must be small. They just can’t afford to take losses like the...
Read morePurchased two flat packs of ground cover. They were both clearly labeled $69.99. During check out I was charged $84.99. After going out to double-check the price, I went for a price adjustment. I was told a new employee incorrectly labeled the plants and the price I was charged is correct. They did show me the barcode they scanned, but would not honor the price that was advertised on the plant. Poor customer service. Your mistake should not cost the customer more money at an already...
