My wife and I tried out LouLou Cajun Restaurant for the first time today, and it was hands-down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in years. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming, and our server Henry P. absolutely went above and beyond. He was not only attentive but also very knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations that made our meal even more enjoyable. His service was so outstanding that we left a $30 tip on an $87 bill without hesitation.
We started with the crab cakes and boudin balls as appetizers. The crab cakes were made in-house with real Maryland crab meat (no imitation here!)—two generous patties packed with fresh crab, perfectly seasoned, and paired with a flavorful sauce that tied it all together. The boudin balls were equally delicious, crispy on the outside, savory on the inside, and served with a sauce that elevated the flavors even more.
For entrées, we shared the Bayou Sampler and the Creole Catfish Sandwich with Cajun fries. The fried catfish was huge, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, served on a toasted brioche bun with a tasty sauce. The Cajun fries were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and the ideal complement to the sandwich.
Between the incredible food and Henry’s outstanding service, LouLou has officially earned a spot at the top of our list. If you’re looking for authentic Cajun flavors and a memorable dining experience, I can’t recommend this place enough. 5...
Read moreWent here a few nights ago for the first time since I was in the area. I'm a Lou Lou on Market regular (that location is a lot more upscale), and was expecting similar quality food at this location. The food was the most disappointing food I've ever been served at a restaurant. First of all, there was burnt hair in the roasted wings that I didn't even catch until I was eating them later that night after we had gone home. Second, the bourbon street salmon was fully overcooked and charred into repulsive burnt rubber. I took one bite and could not even bring myself to swallow it. The salmon tasted and looked as if their grill had not been cleaned the whole night as there was caked on burnt stuff, and there was no sauce on the salmon? The other location serves it with a delicious bourbon glaze. This one had no sauce, tasted extremely bitter, and it was frankly disgusting and inedible. I brought it home wondering if my taste was just off that night, and even my dad said it was terrible and fed it to his dog - and that man will eat anything. The wings, aside from the hair, tasted OK but barely any dry rub was on them so they lacked much flavour. Not even the espresso martini tasted like an espresso martini (I'm a connoisseur). The atmosphere was a lot more casual than the other location which I didn't mind, but I didn't expect that to translate into the worst quality food I'd ever...
Read moreWe were excited to try LouLou's Middletown until we walked in @ 5:45pm and did not have a reservation. The hostess, Addison, tells us she can seat us but we have to be finished by 7pm. She was fitting us in. I told her the website did not say reservations are required. She told me they are recommended but not required. Then why are you giving me a time limit to eat. Ordered @ 6pm food arrived @ 6:16pm We ordered Kentucky Oysters and the Bayou Sampler and the Creole Catfish. Sampler came with dirty rice, red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee, gumbo and one other dish. Do not recommend. Rice was dry, and everything else tasted like it was from a heat and eat container. Bread was not warm and rubbery. Catfish had no seasoning was fried hard, the kale had to much vinegar and sugar and the cheese grits were bland. Our server Stephanie was not very pleasant. She seemed like she did not want us in her section. Was very disappointed in the serve and food. Definitely is not a very good imitation of Creole cuisine. Will not be back nor do I recommend if you know true Creole cuisine. You can make better at home. Out the...
