Fuji Sushi — Restaurant in Midland

I just came here on February 11th, 2025 for the last time. If the owner sees this, the time was around 7:15 PM. Check your cameras. I LOVED Fuji Sushi before tonight. My wife and I were having dinner and as the evening was dialing down and there were fewer customers, she heard a metallic snapping noise. She told me to listen. I did. It was the sound of fingernail clippers. It was coming from behind the sushi bar, but from my seat nobody was back there. It kept going for several minutes. Finally I got up to peer over the bar and two employees were crouched down near the floor. The noise was DEFINITELY coming from one of them. I went to the hostess and I asked her if she could see if the men behind the counter were clipping their fingernails. I had to mime it out since English was not her first language. She hustled back there to talk with them. They stood back up and apologized to me. She was trying to apologize and say everything is fine, they are doing it by the ground so it doesn't get in the food. THIS IS A BLATANT VIOLATION OF HEALTH CODE. I told her that they need to do that outside of a food prep area and preferably do it in the restroom. I am not sure any of the employees understood my disgust and frustration with it. I know there are cultural divides between America and Asia, but the employees should definitely be reviewed to make sure something like that doesn't happen again. Absolutely unacceptable...

I was taken to this place by my girlfriend as a birthday gift and was given a day to remember. I love love love sushi and Fuji Sushi is easily the best and freshest sushi I’ve ever had with some of the sweetest and friendliest staff. Didn’t know salmon could be so buttery soft or how delicious white tuna could be until visiting this place. We ended up getting a boat for 3 (there was only 2 of us) and stuffed ourselves. My girlfriend is always on the fence about eating sushi at the places we’ve been so far, but had her fill of special rolls, sashimi, sushi rolls and more, it was a beautiful moment. The thing that really surprised us was how affordable everything is considering the quality of what you are getting. We expected to get a bill of $100 or more considering we ate for three and even added things to our menu, but left with a bill around $62. The nice thing about Fuji Sushi is you can tell that it’s been setup so if you need to pop in and grab sush on the go or if you’d like to have a nice time with someone special. Ordered a lunch special takeout order, specifically asked for 3 salmon avocado rolls on the phone making sure that it was included in the lunch special r1-r7, guess what it is. 20 minutes into my drive to Frankfort MI I check on my takeout order and not only is my order wrong, I was given 3 salmon tekka maki, I was also charged $3 for avocado that surprise was not even included!

To try to correct the situation they said they would credit my account $3 for the avocado charge...the right thing to do is to give me a full refund because of YOUR mistake. It is 100% not my fault YOU gave me the wrong food. It is not my responsibility to waste my time and money to come back to the restaurant because you cannot read the ticket order or rectify a mistake that I should never have been charged $3 extra in the first place and fix the ticket and order before I paid.

The only right thing to do is give me my money back for your mistake. HORRIBLE customer service, TERRIBLE that the people making the food cannot even read the ticket and make the food accurately even after charging the customer extra. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ORDERING TAKE...
