Golden Buffet — Restaurant in Midland

We have eaten here fairly often and we have found the food decent. The interior is in need of a good cleaning Tonight, we were both very disappointed with the food and the proprietor lady's attitude. My wife got crab legs from the buffet which are typically quite edible. These were not edible. They were mealy in consistency and tough. Even the color was off. When mentioned to the woman she walked off speaking Chinese and said nothing else to us. I got chocolate ice cream and the very first bite tasted odd. Almost like it was yogurt instead of ice cream. My wife even tried it and found it bad. I called the proprietor lady over and asked her if what was in my bowl was ice cream or frozen yogurt? She said it was ice cream and I told her it was bad. She grabbed the bowl of bad ice cream and stormed off towards the kitchen yelling Chinese at the top of her lungs. Neither time was there any apology or that they would look into the matter. As we left, while paying the bill, the same woman began arguing with my wife that if she wanted the good crab legs she needed to order the full meal! My wife said that I am telling you that I have eaten these crab legs often and there is something wrong with this batch, and you are going to do nothing? The women again denied any problems so we left. Unfortunately, we feel that cleanliness and food temperature regulations are likely not being met here. There is complete denial from the owner. If there had been any onus of we are sorry and will look into it, we can forgive an off day. But such bitter, total denial leaves us likely to go elsewhere...

Used to eat here when I was younger and had no issues. Heck I’ve even eaten here in the past year once or twice with no issue. So, let it be known that I never thought to leave a review back when things were good, only when they got bad. But I guess that’s just the way this works more often than not. Anyway, for y’all’s safety I’m leaving this review. My entire family of 7 went to eat lunch here earlier today. We could tell that the food had been out for a while but of course that’s not unusual at a buffet. We all ate and I noticed a few food items that I normally really enjoy but were off this time. Told my wife about it, stopped eating it, and went about my business. Within about a two hours of leaving the restaurant I was starting to hear complaints from my wife and kids about upset stomachs. That was back around 3pm or so today. It is now after midnight and EVERYONE is up rotating in and out of the bathrooms at our house, changing bedding, and feeling awful. It’s one of those toilet and trash can kind of nights. Beware y’all. This place apparently isn’t what it once was. I’ll also mention that another red flag was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I took my young daughter to use the bathroom while we were there and immediately I was concerned. Lord knows if the bathroom is nasty then the kitchen probably is too.

Update: It has been two days since we ate here and three of us in the house are still not 100%. My wife, oldest son, and myself are all still sick. Three days since we ate there and my wife and I are still having stomach pain and diarrhea. Kids seem to...

Overall it's a great place to eat. Great service, great food and prices to dine in are good. Its got a great atmosphere and a attentive staff. It's my boyfriends favorite Chinese place in Midland (mine is China Palace for sentimental reasons) but Golden Buffet is a very enjoyable meal and has many options and varieties that can accommodate most people. I have IBS and am still able to find foods that work with me there, an important note for those out there like me who can't eat many places.they have options due to its vast variety of foods. Granted due to it being a buffet as a dine in customer, there are no labels about what's in everything. You'll have to guess or an someone working. For take out I've also had a good experience. My food is ready on time always and they rarely forget an item. The food is normally hot when I get it. Be careful about what sizes you desire in your portions. If you want a large you must make sure you ask for one or they will give you a small. There small is still a good amount for one person but don't assume their sizes are all one size. It doesn't say so on he menu online so I felt I should say so here. I got the sesame chicken and lo mein noodles ( has some veggies in the noodles and the chicken may have 2 or 3 pieces of broccoli) and some egg rolls.
