Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Midland

It's been a while since we've eaten at Long John Silver's. I had decided to go through the drive thru and bring home dinner. First off, I think that the property as a whole would benefit from a bit of sprucing up. Landscaping and paint. As I said, it has been a while since we have eaten there. It took me a bit to check out the menu. I picked two dinner combo's. I ordered them, almost $13.00 each. The lady said that they came with a drink, asking what types I would like. Once the order was placed and I was quoted a total, it was about $6.00 more than I expected. Before proceeding to the window, I tried to communicate with the lady as to why it was more than it should be. No reply, finally I drove ahead to the window and asked in person why the price. The extra cost was an additional uncharge for the small drinks. I expressed that I had been told that they were included. The lady called who I assumed was the manager over. He didn't speak to me directly but with the employee and walked away. She next told me that people don't usually upgrade and that I needed to pay for them or she'd just pour them out. I so should of just driven away. I think that I was stunned by the service. $32.00 lesson learned. To top it off, the drinks were not what I had ordered. The food was ok. First time that I stopped in to eat in over 43 years and regretted it. Food was on the tray and given to me within seconds. It was NASTY!! Fish AND chicken had been refried to make it hot, potato things were nasty, hushpuppies were warm and greasy. Dad said green beans were hot and good but we threw the food out shortly after that. Never again. Tell your employees not to cook the food UNTIL the customers order it!! It was close to 1pm when we got there and there was only ONE customer inside getting ready to leave, so there was no reason to serve...

I'm one of the rare few that don't eat seafood but absolutely love LJS chicken and sides. I was pretty disappointed that the chicken pieces are less than half the size they use to be with the prices being twice as much which the cost I expect to increase due to inflation but the quality shouldn't lower. My 12$ meal did not come with a drink and there was no crunchies! However, I love their new waffle fries and my service was beyond excellent.
