Ok I have to admit that it's going to be hard for me to remain unbiased for this review. Whether you call it Roy Rogers as it originally was or Roneys as it is these days this has always been one of my favourite restaurants. I was so sad when the old location closed and was so happy when I heard that this one was opening up. This was my second visit here so let's see how it holds up....
Roast Beef Lucky R Burger
What Is It: The roast beef is 100% all beef and you can get bbq sauce for it off of the condiment stand (and trust me you'll want to.) The Lucky R Burger comes with the hamburger, cheese, and ham. Other toppings for this and other products can be found on the condiment stand.
Presentation: They use all pretty generic wraps and cups here which is fine for a small business like this. The food all looked fine. 7 out of 10
Taste/ Final Analysis: This is my # favourite roast beef sandwich that I've ever had. The bun is perfect, the beef is perfect but the thing that makes it special for me is the bbq sauce. It has the right amount of sweet and tangy that it really is the best sauce for a roast beef. I do think that it's not as thick as it used to be which is unfortunate. The Lucky R is delicious as well as the hamburger patty is perfectly cooked and has a ton of flavour. The ham doesn't really add or subtract that much for me other than just adding more meat on there which isn't a bad thing. The ham itself didn't really have a ton of flavour. The fries are always crispy and delicious here so that's a plus. They have so much good food here that I can't really knock anything I've ever had here much.
Roast Beef Sandwich: 10 out of 10 Lucky R Burger: 7.5 out of 10 Bbq sauce: Some of the best ever but quit thinning...
Read moreI have been going to Roneys for years and the last two visits have not been as expected. We drive from Dry Ridge, Kentucky as we have always enjoyed the great food and service Roneys has to offer. We frequent your restaurant at least once a week, sometimes twice. Two weeks ago, I placed my order for (2) roast beef with cheese, (1) cheeseburger, large fry and two medium drinks. Several people came in after us and received their food and we were still waiting. I went up twice asking what the hold up was and was told my order was next. More people were served once again. When I went up to request my money back, she gave me my order. I was so frustrated, I failed to get her name. Waited over 25 minutes for our food.
My second experience was on August 30. This is the first time I’ve ever seen this restaurant dining room dirty. It wasn’t very busy and people were just standing behind the counter. We had to clean our table and booth seats. There were pickles all over the floor next to the vegetable bar. The tables in the center of the room had ketchup all over the floor under the table. The men’s bathroom was filthy. As for the food, our roast beef sandwiches had very little roast beef on them and what was on them had a gritty hard white boney thing in it. Really wasn’t edible. The fries were cold. I ordered 2 apple crisps. Only received one. Had to go back and get the second one. Did not complain to the people working, as I had a question about how they charged my card and could not get a satisfactory answer, so I figured the best solution was to write a review and perhaps someone in management would read and...
Read more(Earlier review)So as always, Roneys never disappoints in food taste. Food is prepared as you order. I am disappointed that the family that owned Roneys sold. Myself along with most probably everyone that eats here hopes new owners, Holland Group, don’t change the menu to the new Roy Rogers because it can’t compare. Roneys “is” the original Roy’s. Already changes the prices though to the same, but please leave the food alone!
8/8/23 Needed to update since last time I was here. Prices went up since last review. Also please stop your other changes. Last 3 visits, no more sesame seed buns and my last visit, guys were working on ice machine and now don’t have the good small ice in dining area. Need to leave well enough alone. I’ll keep coming back because it still beats most other fast food places but dang, it’s getting expensive!
9/3/2023 Ok, guess this will do it for me. $24.20 for 2 tiny roast beef sandwiches, large fry, cup of aujus and drink. Cmon! And still no sesame seed buns. You guys are out of your mind to charge these prices. Oh and make sure you have workers mop the floor with clean mops. Feels like they used the mop they just got done using in a soft drink spill. Ever since previous owners sold, been going...
