I really, really wanted this place to do well. I used to frequent tropical smoothie all the time in FL and it was amazing. But I’ve tried to give this location soo many chances, and it’s become a running joke in my family that nothing will ever go right if you try to eat here.
I can’t even remember all the problems anymore, but every single time it was a combination of incorrect orders, missing ingredients, insane wait times, unprofessional employees, awkward interior flow to place your order and wait for food, online orders can’t be found upon arrival, etc etc.
We probably tried about 6-7 times hoping that it was just a fluke every time, and finally we decided that we need to stop going here until they can figure it out.
So I stopped… for about 6 months. Last week I was driving down the post road and saw the sign, had a hankerin’ for a wrap, and thought “it’s been a while, they MUST have worked out the kinks by now”. So I broke my own rule, pulled in, (dodged the world’s biggest pothole in the parking lot) and walked inside to place my order. (Weekday afternoon)
-“I’ll have the Baja Chicken wrap please.” -“Sorry, we don’t have any chicken. But you can pick something without chicken from the menu.”
I scour the menu for alternatives… and realize that almost every menu item has the word ‘chicken’ in it. Buffalo chicken, jerk chicken, Thai chicken, chicken caesar, chipotle chicken… I start laughing and asked what could still be made. He said he could make a grilled cheese or a breakfast dish. Although I’m flexible, I decide I can’t give this place any more of my money so I left. Only to be ridiculed later by my family for violating my ‘no more tropical smoothie’ policy.
Someone needs to come in and fix this place up. Bring in a temporary manager from one of the successful locations or something. I’ll give it another year and maybe I’ll have another lapse in judgement to give...
Read moreEvery time my wife and I drove by this location in Milford, we've been meaning to stop in for a visit. We finally did that on a Friday around 8pm. We almost didn't go in to the establishment because it looked dark inside and there were stools set up on top of the tables in the windows. Luckily we spotted a small "OPEN" sign glowing green and decided to go inside. The place was pretty clean inside.
We were met first by a young lady wearing her mask, who promptly announced that they weren't serving food anymore for the night. Good thing we only wanted to try the smoothies. She was joined shortly after by another co-worker (No mask on) who was blasting some loud, annoying music at full volume from her phone. The loud music was briefly interrupted because a call came through on her phone that she had to answer before fulfilling our orders.
The cup size of the smoothie was surprising large for the price. I've paid more for less at Robex, another smoothie establishment in CT. I had no complaints about the taste of mine. However as we were driving home, my wife took 2 sips of hers and promptly said it tasted like ice and water, absolutely no taste. I tried hers and had to agree with her... somewhat. I thought it tasted like muddy water.
In summary...there was really nothing tropical about this place. I like the price for the size of the end product, but I lost out by having to toss one of the smoothies out. Someone should introduce that employee playing the loud music from her phone to a pair of earphones. Not everyone has the same taste in music. I felt bad for the other employee in the store who was stuck listening to that for an entire shift. So even though I liked the price, size, and taste of my smoothie, this may be the first and last visit to this...
Read moreThis place just keeps getting better and better. We originally got hooked by the Banana/blueberry chia pudding bowl. ( I can't stop eating them) In the past month we have been out about 8 times. 😁 Now I am hooked on the wraps and salad bowls oh! and the smoothies are Soo good! This place has it all. Now the reason I chose to write this review was not just about the incredible food but because of the manager. I get out a lot and I have never ever watched a manager that takes such pride in her job. You would think she owns the place. Every single time we have gone she has been there smiles and all. It is so refreshing to see people with such pride. This last time the place slowed down for a moment and she came over and asked us how we were. Her name is Daniela and headquarters really should know she is a keeper! She truly loves that place and really knows how to run it. Like I said it was nice to see. ❤️ While writing this we have decided we are going back today!!! Thank you so...
