Not really one to write reviews; but this place dropped off HARD. Last time I was here was pre-COVID; and it was always packed. I supposed it should have been a sign when the Chilis parking lot up the road was packed and the parking lot near Plan B was empty. I thought big chain restaurants were dying.
The adventure started being seated next to an oddly placed inflatable pig and a table set up for rolling silverware. Sign #1 of a failing restaurant. If they have some dining tables not clean or being used for other purposes.
After waiting for 10 minutes to be greeted by our waiter we asked for a draft list. Big mistake, our waiter disappeared for 15 minutes. During this time we got a nice smell of cigarette smoke coming from the leaky emergency exit where presumably an employee was taking a break. Would have been great to mention to a manager; only to see it was the manager out there smoking. Sign #2: The manager doesn't care about customer experience.
Waiter finally comes back; order drinks. Half of the drinks come; waiter apologizes saying he will grab them. Waiter disappears, greets another table, gets their drink order. At this point I realized he didn't ring in the rest of our drinks; there was never anything for him to 'grab'. He finally goes to the computer after 5 minutes; and lo and behold I hear a shaker in the distance and the drink comes moments after he finished ringing in the order.
Ok, finally order our food after maybe 30 minutes. Food comes very quickly; excellent. Food is decent, but a couple minor things are wrong (wrong cheese, wrong type of bun on build your own burger). Not worth mentioning at all. He checks in at the table, we are good.
Here's where it gets fun. So we finish up, everyone is obviously done at our table. Bussers have cleared most of the table and we are all sitting back. Our waiter is now standing at the waitstaff station chatting up another waitress. (I think I now know why our service was trash). So I just wait and state. Our waiter is facing the other direction, so he doesn't have a clue. So I'm just staring at the other waitress, just absolute daggers. She obviously sees me, but apparently our waiter must have just been so engaging she couldn't stop his musing. 5 minutes pass, so I finally just walk up to him and ask for the check. Sign #3; the waitstaff obviously doesn't care.
Absolutely pitiful service. I give this place weeks if not days if they can't address...
Read moreI work all week. The one thing I want to do at the end of the work week is reward myself. I want to treat myself to dinner. I think I am ultimately looking for is to sit at the bar, order a well done burger, have a beer and a shot, and have intelligent conversation with the patrons next to me. I can honestly say that Plan B in Milford, Connecticut delivered on this Thursday July 3, 2014.
The bar was busy but I was able to get a seat. I was able to get a beer in a timely manner. They don’t have my favorite beer Guinness there but the server recommended a Harpoon dark beer. I can’t remember the name but it was good. I was pleased.
I ordered the Baja burger which is listed as "Fresh Avocado, Jalapeños, Tomato, Jack Cheese, Lettuce & Chipotle Spread". The server recommended putting the chipotle spread separately as it and the jalapenos would be overpowering. I said okay and just asked for my burger to be cooked well done. I want it to be a hockey puck. I don’t want to see any red.
I had two different intelligent conversations while I was there. I was talking to a guy who was like me in liking Guinness and well-cooked burgers. I was later talking to a young woman who has celiac disease. She was telling me the reason she was there was the fact that Plan B has an excellent gluten free menu. Her boyfriend Brian works at the Prime 16 in Orange and it is on my list of places to check out. She also recommended I check out Joey C's Roadhouse.
According to my receipt the server’s name was “Laurie C”. On my check the words “well done” was in bold print. My burger was well done and I was extremely satisfied with it. The french fries were good. They weren’t anything to brag about but I did enjoy dipping them in the chipotle spread. Server Laurie C did an excellent job in taking care of me in a timely manner. She was busy and I was impressed.
I was not stuffed from my meal. Plan B is a chain and being there reminded me of being in a TGIF’s, Chili’s and AppleBees. I don’t know if I will go back as there are so many other places to check off on my list but I would go back if any friends/family wanted to go. It was a great...
Read moreI hadn't been here in a while, so I stopped in. It was great. 5/5 all the way.
The wings had a nice thin crip outside and soft inside. Perfectly cooked to my liking. The flavor was as expected. Perfect. The blue cheese was a step above. Very nice.
Now to the burger. I got the Double Day Brurger. The one with the double patty with bacon and egg on it. Nice, soft brioche bun. The flavor profile was excellent. The quality of the meat was definitely one of the best I've had. The fries were good. Shoestring. Decent flavor.
I only have a few minor negatives. This is my personal preference so others may think differently. Again. These are MINOR issues.
The patties were supposed to be smashed, so they did not have any pink. However, they were thicker than a typical "smash burger." The crust (maillard reaction) was not as pronounced as a typical smash burger. Therefore, I would have preferred some pink. Please, guys. This is a very minor point. I loved my burger. Just be prepared for that little issue.
The bacon was placed as an X on the burger. Therefore, you didn't always get a bite of delight. I broke off the tips and filled in the gaps.
My burger didn't have enough sauce. I asked for mayo and mustard, and it vastly improved my experience.
They need to expand their non-alcoholic beer menu. They also need to add mocktails for those of us to do not drink. (I understand if some places don't want to stock the beer bc they want to make sure it sells, but mocktails do not cost any more money. You already have everything. Just be creative and add to the menu.
Where is the wagyu? Come on, guys?! I'm sure you can get a wagyu burger on your menu.
I want to be very clear...again. This is me being picky. The place is awesome! I will be back again soon. It was one of the best gourmet...
