While the Milledgeville mall desperately needs more food court options, currently 2(Chinese & soul food), what it did not need was the OE. They offer loaded potatoes, salads, pizza, and ice cream. Now while you think these are great adds they would be if they were executed properly. I have tried all but the ice cream on several visits. they have no menu or pricing available for their customers at this time. The pizza is by far the biggest let down. I can overlook wilted lettuce in a salad, an $8 baked potato, and flat soft drinks, but not the pizza. Even frozen bake at home shines over their offerings. The staff is super friendly and the place is always clean-ish. They offer aluminum picnic tables for seating which can often be left messy by the patrons. The hardest thing to get over is the price you pay for what you get. I have visited half a dozen times and each time my bill was over the $10 mark per person with drinks. That’s a little high for lunch and the quality is lacking despite the fresh ingredients. This place needs a culinary makeover and they have only been open a month. Hopefully they can smooth things out with the menu and pricing and become something great. For now because they are still new and figuring things out I would recommend the soul food across the hallway. Same owners, but that, they have...
Read moreOK, seriously... Any counter service cafeteria in a mall food court would need to be off the charts amazing to justify a 4.5 star plus in Google reviews. This place is not amazing. Definitely not 4 stars or above. I read the great reviews online and made a special trip to Milledgeville to try this place's food offerings. Again, it is in a food court in a run down mall. It is not anything close to what I was led to believe from the "local guide" reviews. Food is OK at best. Sides are not home cooked like mother used to make them. Food is in wet steam trays and just slopped onto Styrofoam plates. Service is not rude, but no concern or care for the customer was seen. Checkout was not smooth. Nothing was better than any cafeteria you could walk into anywhere. Nothing special at all. No awesome comfort food, no incredible home made goodies, nothing that tasted better than any fast food anywhere. The tables in the restaurant seating area were all sticky and wobbly, so almost everyone just ate in the food court aisle-way in the mall. Never a good atmosphere for any meal. It just might be the most decent food you can get for 6 bucks in Milledgeville, but don't waste your gas and...
Read moreSuch good home-cooking! I'm not big on eating "home cooking" at restaurants because it never quite lives up to that promise of tasting like great-granny's mashed potatoes and Aunt Ethel's macaroni and cheese. You know what I mean. Well! We dropped in the other night (thankfully not with my Celiac husband). I got the beef tips, green beans, and mashed potatoes. First of all, you pay about $8 for two sides, a meat, a roll/cornbread, and a drink, which is a little high to me. BUT you get so much food! I couldn't finish all of mine, which was a shame. I think the potatoes were actually and really mashed potatoes, because I got a lump now and again that wouldn't be possible with instant. The beef tips were also excellent, tender, and not nearly as fatty as I would've guessed. The green beans were good, and my mom even commented that they were "grandma green beans" because it tasted truly southern and home-made. We were really impressed.
(For any Celiacs following or surfing my reviews: This isn't safe for you, and I don't recommend it for you. For anyone else, YES. It was super tasty. But it cannot accommodate gluten-free needs probably unless you only have an...
