An amazing authentic south Indian pick up spot. The staff is extremely polite and kind. Two things I love about this shop. Weekend breakfast. I come down at 8 am to get vada sambhar dip and the idli sambhar combo with my wife. We also love coming here for evening chai and snacks. They have daily evening snacks after 4 pm only. The snacks are made fresh every ten min in the kitchen. They have two tables outside the store. Please add more tables so we can sit and eat the dishes hot onsite. I crave their sambhar. It is the best sambhar I have eaten so far. It's an amazing balance of flavors. I make sure every time I go to order the 32 ounce box sambar to go. Their chutney is made fresh. This is what I love about such places keep the menu simple basic and fresh ingredients and execute it right. In evening snacks I am always ordering the pakora, samosa and masala vada. All are excellent. Although I like to request to create a version of pakora that has Thai or India chilly in it NOT jalapenos. I look forward to sitting outside enjoying the breeze and sipping on their masala chai and devouring the hot pakora in front of the mountains in milpitas. Jalapenos are not spicy. Please keep the same recipe just add more spicy chilly. The batter consistency is perfect for the pakora. I will be coming to this place weekly I am sure especially for early morning breakfast on weekends. South India filtered coffee goes amazing with breakfast and snacks. This place is a must try for anyone who wants true traditional south Indian meals. This place is 100 percent vegetarian. I am a non veg but I have no complaints. What they are making satisfying me to my soul. Keep delivering a great product. Great job idly...
Read moreWe have been a fan of Mylapore umbrella, and Idli express in Milpitas is one of them. We have ordered food from this location a few times in the past. First of all, there are no complaints about the food.
Now coming to their service, we ordered through the door dash sometime in May, and they missed adding one of the items. We called them as soon as we got the order and a lady told us that they would add that item in our next order if we call them. Not a big deal and we moved on!
Now we wanted to order again in July, so we called them to add that missing item from our previous order, and a lady refused to add it because she didn't find any record of that missing item. She kept on arguing without mentioning even once that she would add it because she couldn't find the missing item record tied to my previous order. I found it very bad customer service. It wasn't like I was asking for anything more. I was only asking them to add an item which they missed last time, which would cost me less than 10 bucks.
I found their MD, Jay Jayaraman, very fascinating and I even follow him on LinkedIn. I wish some of the things he mentions there come to their staff too while providing the service.
Update - I got a call from the store manager immediately after I posted this review to get the details, apologized for this incident and offered his help while placing a future order. I appreciate him addressing my concern so quickly. I'm looking forward to my next order from here. Changing from...
Read moreFood quality was okay but was disappointed by the service. I ordered idly (2 pieces) and Pongal combo. It came with the small container of chutney which was not enough for even one idlly. When I asked for some more chutney, the lady at the counter wanted me to pay $2 for extra chutney. They should serve enough chutney in the first place. Also the lady at the counter was rude. Not worth paying and getting frustrated & staying unsatisfied.
I just saw the owner’s response and had to reply. Since there’s no proper way to do that, I’m updating my original comment. The arrogance really speaks for itself. Saying “nothing comes for free " :) in response to valid feedback is unbelievably rude and unprofessional.
Let’s be clear: you’re already charging outrageous prices for food that’s well below average in quality. On top of that, before even offering any kind of service, you shamelessly flip the payment screen around expecting a generous tip...for what? Rude, unfriendly, and frankly pathetic service?
If you’re going to run a business, the least you can do is learn the basics of how to treat your customers with respect. Instead, you arrogantly dismiss criticism as if you’re doing people a favor by being open.
Thankfully, the Bay Area is full of better restaurants, places that offer great food, clean spaces, and respectful service. I hope others choose to spend their hard-earned money somewhere that actually values them & don't get treated so rudely. I can also smell...
