A great place to hang out. It has many different shops - tea bars, restaurants, super market (Ranch 99), banks, Chinese herbal shops and etc. The tea bars here are unique and offer various kind of bubba teas from Taiwan and China.
I haven't been here for some time now - probably two years - and it has change a lot in a good way. I noticed the place it's more vibrant and more young people. We stayed in the nearby Sheraton for two nights; thus we came here in three straight days. The first day, we are at Nutrition House - a Taiwanese restaurant - for lunch. We ordered the soybean milk, mallet porridge, Chinese fried donut, and chicken fried rice. The food were delicious, but can't day same for utensils. The utensils were a little dirty and it seem kind roughly washed.
For dinner, we stopped by Pepper Lunch USA. A fast-steak restaurant serve on a iron skillet. The only reason we ate here because of the popularity. Before the place was open at 5:30pm for dinner, the line forming outside the restaurant was already very long. We were lucky to be seated at the first round, and noticed some people didn't make it in and continue to wait. If you ask me to wait 45 minutes to one hour for a seat, I would have left to go to a different restaurant. I don't like to wait, especially for food. There are so many options in Milpitas Square. As for the food, I ordered number two thinly sliced ribeye steak with their special soy sauce. It is pretty good, but not good enough for me to wait forty-five minutes.
We also stopped by Shihlin, a traditional Taiwanese street food restaurant. A tiny hole with a couple tables. We grabbed a some quick bites and headed back to the hotel. We have the big chicken steak covered with spicy powder, which it's good. Reminded of our trip to Taiwan.
The second day, we ate at Shanghai Delight. We ordered the Shanghai chow-mien, Shanghai salty rice, sweet and sour sparerib and a Chinese vegetable dish. The food were delicious, but we ordered too much and have lots of leftover. The portion is quite big so order with care to avoid leftover.
We went to Gongchai for deserves. A tea bar serves unique bobba tea and ice cream the cream snow flake, which a little softer and smoother...
Read moreThey have now marked off a bunch of parking spots along the outer edges of the parking lot for employees BUT my strong suspicion is employees have no incentive to park in the farthest spots and are parking in the regular spots closer. I say this because all those rows of employee parking spots are largely empty. This just makes the already bad parking situation here worse by making a large chunk of spaces unusable and unused. So far, the actual customers at least seems to not be parking in these far away spots.
Also, one time I was blocked in by an employee working at one of the Chinese restaurants who double parked blocking about 6 cars at the end of the back alley in the parking lot. Fortunately we saw security, who was very helpful in finding the offender by going around to the different shops. The Chinese employee was completely non-apologetic for blocking us in and was staring us down as if we were in the wrong. Whatevers. I had also called Milpitas Police who were supposedly sending some officers over but they didn't within the 1 hour we were trying to find the double parker. If security hadn't found the double parker, we'd probably have waited a few hours for the police to show up, then wait another few hours for them to call a tow truck to tow...
Read moreThis is an Asian shopping/dining area in the back roads of Milpitas along the 880 Freeway. You will not be able to see it form the road or freeway until you come on the back side streets. It features mostly restaurants and caters to the Silicon Valley Lunch crowd which is where it tends to fall short for accommodations. The parking lot tends to overflow daily during this time and results in lines and small jams and illegal parking along curbs and undesignated spots. There is overflow parking across the street in the Cisco Buildings but I don't recommend you park there unless you are an Employee of Cisco. The area is decently kept but can get dirty/littered sometimes. Overall, a decent place to go with lots of options to eat but does not necessarily present on...
