During COVID times: Limited capacity dine-in seating as well takeout/to-go facility.
Happened to be there for a good dinner with a bunch of friends. Even though the tempo was low due to the pandemic , the ambience inside and the folks that run the show in there were bursting with energy and one of the best hosts that I have witnessed in the recent past.
We started off with a bunch of appetizers namely the sizzling chicken , mushroom chili , paneer chili and Honey chili potato. Finger-licking good and served to precision though on a notoriously high chili (spicy is not the right word) side which left us stumped for a bit, though we chomped on till the stuff was wiped out from the serving bowls/plates.
Then came the main course where we ended up ordering (requested them to reduce it a very low spice level) Goat curry, vegetarian Haka noodles , mixed Daal (lentil soup) and Chicken Sekuwa with Tandoori roti and rice. While enjoying each of these items, one of their hosts picked up a guitar and started singing a few good lines from some old songs and lit up the place (Amazing hospitality and giving us a good great time :) ).
The Goat curry was cooked with just the right amount of tenderness while the chicken Sekuwa was a great kebab/barbeque style chicken served with Poha and Peanuts with a chili sauce.
Daal and Noodles did turn out to be breathtakingly amazing and it just left us craving for more (only if we had bags instead of stomachs to fill us in :) ).
During the dinner a couple of my friends ordered the Galli soda and they seemed to enjoy it as it brought them memories from their childhood days.
Gulab jamun and Tea helped us wrap up the meals and was just the perfect sweet way to bring to an end our first visit to the restaurant.
Being so engrossed in the serving , i was not able to grab a lot of pictures of our meals , still got hold of a few and some from what they were preparing in the kitchen.
With an epic desire and an agreement amongst us all to return we left with a good amount of fennel seeds stuffed in our mouths and the taste etched in our tongues and memories.
Be right...
Read moreWe visited this place for lunch on a weekend. The order consisted of Chicken momo steamed, Chicken hakka noodles(chowmein), Chicken thukpa, Goat sekuwa, Tandoori rotis and Malai chicken. All of the food had a unique flavor to it. We'd tasted a couple of entrees that we ordered here at other places too but those same dishes tasted refreshingly different here.
The goat sekwa was cooked perfectly and the meat was not too soft or hard. It was served with traditional accompaniments of peanuts and flat rice along with sliced carrots and cucumber. It was seasoned with a vey addictive spice very similar to Indian chat masala but not quite the same.
The chicken thukpa was soothing and the broth tasted better than some ramen places we've been to. This was the star of the meal. It was more than enough for two with the other entrees we'd ordered.
The momos and noodles tasted great as well although the quantity of noodles is was not enough to be shared amongst two.
Initially we decided to have tandoori rotis with the goat sekwa but we realized it was a dry entree and would not go well with rotis so we added the malai chicken to our order. The owner was kind enough to honor our request of serving the rotis along with the late order of malai chicken. The tandoori rotis were exceptional and we could clearly make out the dairy been used to knead the dough since they were soft. Malai chicken tasted good as well. This place is a little bit more heavy on the wallet than other similar places we've visited.
Ambience: there's limited outdoor seating but a lot of space indoors and the artwork is brilliant. The ceiling is lined with hundreds of Tibetan prayer flags along with various artifacts from Nepal. They also have T-shirts with funky and cool quotes that are pinned to the walls which gives the place a casual vibe. The staff is very cordial and helpful. Process: Pick an empty table, scan the barcode on your phone and place order via the online portal and checkout. If you want the traditional way of ordering that is possible too. Food is served at the table either ways. Quantity: Ok Parking:...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant and tried a variety of dishes, including the chicken spring roll, chicken fried rice, butter chicken, rice (not included with butter chicken) and naan. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience with a mix of hits and a few areas for improvement.
The chicken spring roll was decent—nothing extraordinary, but it served as a decent starter. The chicken fried rice was quite good, flavorful, and well-prepared. The butter chicken stood out as a highlight—it was rich, creamy, and had a delightful sweetness to it, which we appreciated since we requested the dishes to be mild in spice. The kitchen did an excellent job accommodating our request, as both the butter chicken and fried rice had almost no spice, just as we wanted. The naan complemented the meal perfectly, as expected.
What really impressed me was how well the restaurant handled our request to make the food completely non-spicy. This is one of the few places where the staff actually listened and customized the dishes accordingly, ensuring they were mild and enjoyable for everyone in our group. It’s rare to find a restaurant that pays such close attention to specific dietary preferences, and it made the experience even better.
The ambience of the restaurant added to the experience. The decor was tasteful and created a welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family.
In summary, while the chicken spring roll was just okay, the fried rice and butter chicken were delicious, especially with the kitchen's attention to our spice preferences. Combined with the nice ambience and decor, it’s a place I’d recommend for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Their willingness to customize the food to our needs definitely earns them...
