I order from here occasionally but the past 2 experiences have made it a less enticing option. The food is usually great, especially the eggplant and tofu poboy. However, last time my order included the eggplant and it tasted very weird, as though there was raw flour on it. It was not crispy, and the spice level was almost nonexistent even though I had paid the upcharge to make it "spicy". None of the dishes I have ever ordered spicy were very spicy imo, so I'm not sure what they're charging for.
The other incident that changed my mind was that using the app that they prefer to order online automatically routes the order to their Alpharetta location. It's my fault for not realizing that it would do that, but when I recognized my mistake and called the restaurant the person working just said "there's no manager on duty so I can't cancel the order" and so I had to drive all the way there to pick up cold food even though I had asked them to please keep it warm. I understand it was my mistake, but I cannot understand why it shouldn't be possible to at least keep the food warm especially if you can't cancel an order because there is no manager. I had told them I would be driving an extra 40 minutes there and they couldn't even keep the food warm? They also didn't bother to keep the coleslaw for the sandwiches cold, just put everything in a bag for me to pick up eventually. They were not even busy! I'm very confused about what I tipped 20% for in that scenario. Such terrible service. These are not fast food...
Read moreI've had the dumplings here before and they are highly recommended. My wife and I went last night and I was seriously let down. We ordered dumplings for me and some eggplant thing for my wife. They had some internet trouble when we were ordering/paying. Little did I know that trouble would make me wait at LEAST 25 minutes for my food. They were definitely having trouble due to internet problem, but they kept taking orders. They should have stopped taking new orders until all the other customers were taken care of. The guy was clueless behind the counter trying to figure out which dishes belonged with which order. When I finally went to pick up, only the eggplant was ready for my wife, the dumplings would be another 5 minutes. My wife hated the eggplant, said it was all breading, little eggplant. We demanded our money back offering to pay only for the wine my wife drank while waiting. He started to pay us our money back MINUS THE TIP WE PAID! My wife had to point that out which he did pay that back of course. Tip to Gu's, have a better back up plan when internet goes down and if you're swamped don't compound the problems by taking more orders thereby angering more customers. Also, you should've comped the glass of wine or offered something rather than just blaming internet. Comping the wine costs very little. Not comping cost you future...
Read moreDo NOT eat at this location. I eat at the Buford location every month and the food is so good as is the friendly service. This location wanted to charge me .50 for water after I gave a $5 tip on the walk up counter service that involved me ordering and me picking up my food and me throwing away my own trash. How cheap can you get? Then to top it off the food arrived and was subpar (except the dumplings so I guess if you must eat at this location get the dumplings). The Dan Dan noodles were dry and lacked the depth and flavor that makes me always order them. The popcorn chicken was not what I expected and which I only ordered after asking about them. The clerk at the counter said it was my fault for not understanding but I said it was definitely a miscommunication and she should have explained what I was getting since I specifically asked. When I asked for some sauce that I expected it was coming with (based off her miscommunication) I was told she could get me chili oil but it was $2 and also that’s not what I wanted so then I asked if she could ask the chef and she said no because the chef only spoke Mandarin and she did not. Do not recommend eating here. Go to...
