I have driven past Taziki’s a few times on Windward Parkway, and always thought it looked interesting. The name they chose is basically the name of my favorite Greek sauce, so it got my attention.
I got a job 6 months ago not even a mile away so I had no excuse to not go, but kept putting it off until today (partly because the boyfriend is a picky eater). Today was a cold and rainy day and I had skipped breakfast too, so I was ravenous. That was enough to make me quit putting it off. I found the webpage without a problem, and to my great delight I could order by email. Which I did.
It was a new restaurant so I ordered something familiar: a beef gyro, plus the namesake taziki sauce and pita chips. I called to confirm they got my email, which they did. They promised my order would be ready when I got there in 15-20 minutes.
It was.
To my more pleasant surprise, the gyro sandwich (not the platter, the sandwich) came with a side. I hadn’t known so I hadn’t specified. My waiter said he guessed and included potatoes. I said that was fine.
When I finally got to sit down – oh, heavenly. The taziki sauce is extremely fresh. So fresh that I could make out the individual flavors of dill, cucumber and lemon (most places taziki sauce is good, but not THAT good!). The beef in the gyro was succulent and tender. The vegetables were fresh. And that pita bread may have also been fresh baked today.
They even threw a few olives and a banana pepper in with my pita chips. Great surprise! I will say that I was pleasantly full after my meal, but still tempted out of the sheer deliciousness, to go back and order another gyro for dinner.
They also, according to their blackboard, have inexpensively priced Greek wine which I look forward to trying when I am not in the middle of a workday.
I will definitely be going back again and asking GrubHub to get with these guys so I can...
Read moreUpon entering I heard a very faint Hello, I have no idea who said it, there were 5 people behind the counter, and they barely made eye contact, lol. Anyway, my order was taken, she was nice, smiling and cordial. I waited 23 minutes for my food! This was a carryout order by the way. I saw a few containers on the counter but I didn't know if one of them were mine or not. Turns out, 2 of them were mine. The same girl that took my order, bagged my food and handed it to me and apologized for the long wait, which I appreciated. I ordered the lamb gyro, which came with potato chips and a side of your choice, the chips were not bagged, they were thrown in the styrofoam container and they were sort of stale. The gyro was decent, not the best that I've had, but not the worst. Needed more sauce. The pasta salad tasted store bought. I also ordered the whipped feta with pita chips. It was something new that I wanted to try, i didn't like it at all (but you might 😉). It had honey and mint or parsley on top. I was looking for something more savory, not sweet. I paid a little over 20 bucks for my meal. Not sure if I will go back, they need to work on their people skills and efficiency and the food is nothing to...
Read moreI went to this location on a Friday night to get a gyro and a side of the signature pasta salad. My total was lower than expected .. I asked the girl was it correct.. and did she get everything.. she reconfirmed my order and I paid and drove home. I got home... and my order was wrong.. not sure where chips came from... plus my signature pasta salad came to some random pasta salad without the sauce/chicken. I called the manager and he was like, "Well were not going to give you a refund because you didn't over pay or anything..." total douche bag. I've been in customer service 11 years.. and I've never experienced anything like this before. He then told me he'd call the store manager and call me back. When he called me back he said next time they'd give me a free side signature pasta salad. Like.. they were so nonchalant. I'm sorry but, If a customer pays their hard earned money for something, at least get the order right. I asked the girl was she sure and she told me yes.. like...make the employees effectively listen and not talk to one another about personal things while taking orders. Maybe.. just maybe orders will be correct and complaints won't be made. Huge disappointment......
