Catrina Cantina — Restaurant in Milwaukee

I am extremely displeased and disheartened with the way I was treated by the manager, Jennifer, during my visit October 4, 2025.

I placed a takeout order over the phone with a female staff member. I arrived about 10 minutes later to pick it up. When I entered, a male employee at the bar asked if he could help me. I explained that I was there to pick up an order I placed over the phone. He went to the other side of the restaurant, and I waited at the bar for about five minutes or so. Shortly after, a woman handed him a bag, which he then gave the bag to me. Both employees told me to have a nice day and walked away. I thanked them and left the restaurant.

Just a few feet outside the door, a woman called out excuse me and briskly walking out the door up to me. I stopped and she said they hadn’t received payment for my order. I said oh I’m sorry and went back inside realizing she was correct. I then went back inside paid for the meal and left a $5 tip. I proceeded to walk home and start eating. I recieved a missed call and a very rude voicemail mid meal. I immediately called the number back.

When I called back, I spoke with Jennifer, who immediately accused me of intentionally leaving without paying and said I was “no longer welcome” at the restaurant. She also claimed she watched the video and that a waiter had to chase me down for payment which is absolutely not true! If she did watch a video, speak to me, or even the people outside, she would truly know/ see what occurred.

Jennifer refused to hear my explanation and hung up on me also. When I called back to clarify, she continued to insist I tried to steal, despite not having been present during the incident.

This was an honest mistake on both sides. The waiter forgot to take payment, and since I’m used to paying for pickup orders over the phone or through DoorDash ahead of time, it simply slipped my mind as well. At no point did I act in a dishonest or in an evasive manner. If I had realized the oversight later, I would have gladly come back to pay, as I live across the street and walk by this location daily!

Being accused of theft ($17 burger and fries) and treated so rudely over a misunderstanding was extremely upsetting and unprofessional. This was my first experience dining with this establishment and obviously my last as I am not welcomed, nor would I want to come back with management/ customer service like this. I truly hope that in the future, situations like this are handled with more fairness and professionalism toward your...

I wish I could’ve put a - negative star because that is what this place deserved. I have been to this bar/ club numerous times and have never had an issue but today (New Years eve) I have officially been assulted by a white male and have never felt more disrespected in my life because the owners didn’t have the audacity to defend a Hispanic female. (A shame really) considering this is a Hispanic community. I understand that I may have been intoxicated but for the white male to laugh in my face is complete disrespect!
