Brix Apartment Lofts — Local services in Milwaukee

Overpriced apartments with very poor and difficult management. The trains at night and the noise from the surrounding units (above, below, and neighboring) is extremely loud. As some of the other reviews mention, property management offers poor service and is very rude and unhelpful despite the high expectations set by paying probably the most expensive rents in Milwaukee. Frequently, duplicate of just random charges would be applied to our account that were only removed months later after multiple requests to property management to address incorrect charges.

Cynthia from from the leasing office is particularly unpleasant to interact with. She made my roommate cry on multiple occasions and for whatever reason always treated us with a strong animosity despite us being literally the quietest tenants who never had guests, used any of the building amenities, paid rent on time always, and were always very respectful to maintained / property management.

At move-in, patches of our carpet were missing that we were told would be replaced prior to move-in, it took months for them to fix a shade that only pulled half way down on my bedroom window that was supposed to be fixed by move-in, and we were welcomed with rudeness and poor communication from property management on pickup of our keys and garage parking fob.

At move-out, my roommate and I did literally everything in our power to leave amicably with property management. I reserved the elevators for move out with property management a month in advance and on the day of Cynthia from the leasing office literally snatched the elevator key from my mover’s hands and told him that other people had to move in (even though we had reserved this day for moving well in advance). She also made racist remarks to my movers in the presence of me, my movers, and my boyfriend which was shocking and upsetting. A different team member from the leasing office and I did the final walk through of the apartment together where we signed off on the state of the apartment being in the same condition as at move-in. Even after that, I received a nasty email from Cynthia requesting I hire cleaners even though I’d spent hours cleaning the apartment as per our lease agreement. To accommodate her out of respect, I hired expensive cleaners of her choice hoping this would somehow help me get back the full security deposit I should rightfully be entitled to considering the prestige care taken of our unit. However, at this point, I‘m so tired of the back and forth with her on incorrect charges on our account, unfilled maintenance requests, and seemingly deep contempt of my roommate and I in basically every interaction we ever had through the duration of our year long lease that I‘m just excited to be out of here. Based on other’s comments and my experience with Brix, I don’t expect to see any of my security deposit.

One becomes skeptical when an apartment complex receives constant rave reviews. After living here at Brix, without a doubt, all the raves are warranted and then some! It took me over 6 months (not kidding) of looking for an apartment to find an apartment like I now have at Brix. I have seen everything out there and you will not find anything even close to what Brix has to offer.

This building was a candy factory back in the early 1900’s and turned into lofts in 2015. The apartments are big and spacious with many different layouts. Great views everywhere and the building is very quiet. With an elevator at each end of the building, it takes no time to get to your car in the heated garage.

The amenities are endless! Superb party room with a pool table and a 75” TV! The party room opens to the huge outdoor patio area with several grills for summer cooking. Whoever designed this area really thought this through.

The workout room has plenty of treadmills, ellipticals and much more. The package room is in the garage, so you don’t have to go far to get your packages. You have the option of a storage locker and they are HUGE! Every apartment has a high-end washer and dryer. No waiting for a washer and dryer to become available in the basement laundry room in this building!

The property management and maintenance staff see to it that every resident is well taken care of. Paperwork to rent the apartment was a breeze. The building is kept very clean and any maintenance requests are addressed quickly. The building is in the perfect location in Walker’s Point. There is tons to do in this neighborhood and almost everything is within walking distance. There is even a bakery on the street corner of this building with access to it through our lobby.

Overpriced and undersized apartment lofts with little to no storage. With a neighborhood that has a ton to offer, you can find a better option with openings and more favorable pricing.

If you're on the north side of the building, you will hear the train and it is loud.

Management doesn't do anything to make up for the high prices. When faced with a small and simple issue, management gets extremely defensive and will blame the tenant for the problem. Management does nothing to address noise complaints. Receiving your packages here is a complete disaster. Don't expect any help or sympathy if your property suddenly goes missing or is misplaced while in custody of the management office.

On top of being expensive and having poor customer service, Brix was happy to take their last chunk of flesh from our security deposit to clean a "dirty" glass shower door. As original tenants that paid rent and occupied the apartment for over three years, it wasn't reasonable to make everything look brand new again. This is considered normal wear and tear.
