Blackwater Coffee & Cafe Minneapolis — Restaurant in Minneapolis

Update #2: unfortunately I’m changing my initial 5 Star review to 1 Star. Everything is different. Everything fun or good is gone. The manager and baristas I loved are all gone and so is everything else that was great about this place.

UPDATE: I’ve been to this Minneapolis location a few times now and they are often very busy, but there is almost no wait. They are so efficient and kind. Sara is the manager and she is AMAZING. She is often behind the counter, supporting her team, and making food and drinks. She always has a friendly smile and is so warm she makes you feel like you’re an old friend. She is the soul and backbone of this place and undoubtedly deserves a raise. They are LUCKY to have her!

This place is great! I’ve been to the Maple Plaine location a few times and was excited about their two new locations. The coffee and food were delicious and the people working were even better....

The matcha at this place is absolutely disgusting and the service follows suit. I ordered a sesame oat matcha, it tasted like a watered down spinach and peanut butter smoothie, genuinely one of the nastiest things I’ve ever tasted, I don’t know anyone that would find it acceptable, especially for the price and extremely small size. When I approached the barista to let them know I could not drink this and ask for them to make me something else instead, they wanted to charge me for another drink and when I questioned that, they ended up throwing away my drink without a remake or refund.

There’s a million other coffee shops in the area, I implore you to go literally...

I work in the Fifth Street Towers building and just wanted to take time to say how delighted we are to have Blackwater in the building and especially how delighted we are to have Sara and Angie as baristas! Most Wednesday mornings, we head down to Blackwater with a large group of colleagues and this morning, even with just Sara and Angie holding down the fort - they were pleasant, efficient, warm, welcoming, and calm.
