I was at a different bar with a friend trying a Japanese whiskey when my friend said if we really wanted to try good Japanese whiskey, we needed to go to Gori Gori Peku because he'd had a great experience there. So a week later, there we went. The staff host staff was welcoming and directed us to the bar. We were very quickly presented with the menu to look over and given a few minutes to do so. After taking it all in, we set our menus down and looked up and around to make eye contact with one of the three people working this tiny bar space, including the person behind the bar directly in front of us. No interaction from him, OK.... How about the server who brought us the menu, where is she? Not around, OK... Third time was the charm, we did get somebody to listen to our preferences to then make some suggestions. We each chose our whiskeys and we're happy with them. All in all it was an OK experience with both pluses and minuses. If I were with someone else who wanted to check it out, I would give it another try. However, I would probably not be the one to...
Read moreStopped in with my husband to the Gori Gori 2nd floor bar on Saturday night. Great cocktail menu. Whether your taste is Japanese whisky or skew traditional (Negroni was tempting) or fusion, you’ll find something here to please. My first cocktail was a seasonal tropical, melon concoction with a hint of shishito pepper heat. My second was a boozier take on a Vesper, garnished with a salty Japanese plum. Both super tasty and unique. Beyond the Artfully prepared drinks, other details in the bar service are easy to take for granted: Japanese music at just the right volume, dark hued walls and perfect room temperature create the Zen spa-like backdrop; custom stamped ice cubes are eye candy in your glass. The three lovely ladies behind the bar were super attentive, answered my many cocktail questions, knowing we were only staying for a couple after dinner drinks before heading home. If this is how they treat the drinks, I’m definitely trying the food next time....
Read moreGreat ambiance, nice bar. LOW lighting and TINY writing on the drinks menu. Asked the bartender for a recommendation amd he says "I really like ..." I say ok ill take that. Little did I know that this was a $90+ whiskey on the rocks. I have NEVER been to a wiskey bar where I've ask this question and the person doesn't ask for a price range much less suggest a crazy expensive one so nonchalantly. On top of thaat he said 12 for one wiskey, that turned out to be the service fee. These drinks have a $12-$%%15 service fee, PER DRINK WTH?! Doesn't help that he's wearing a mask so there's no expression. We had 5 drinks, one Manhattan one old fashion amd 3 whiskeys and recieved a $300+ tab. Never have i had a bar tender like this,...
