I came here mostly for the selection of niche fragrances and was not disappointed. My expectations were blown away. It is so rare to be able to be left to test out expensive fragrances on your own without overly pushy sales reps but this was truly the best experience I have ever had. Not only was I allowed to test freely but I was able to have great conversations with the reps that were not sales motivated. I was never made to feel like I was testing too much or there for too long. The customer service is truly remarkable. Being offered things like free coffee or bottled water is not something I am used to even from other high end stores. The fragrance selection is absolutely unparalleled as well, you will find nothing like it anywhere else in the state that I am aware of. All of this is without even mentioning all of the other very interesting items in this very large store. The only thing keeping this from being 5 out of 5 is of course the price of some of the items. There were a few clearance/sale sections but I feel most people would probably find most of the items in the store not very affordable. There are definitely a few cheaper items here and there and were definitely too many areas for me to have looked at absolutely everything, but I feel like just a bit more slightly affordable items would be nice, perhaps just a bit of Polo Ralph Lauren instead of only Ralph Lauren Purple Label, for example. But at the end of the day I understand this is a very high end store, just personal preference and is probably affordable to plenty who will frequent the shop. Everyone here was extremely kind and helpful. Everything in the store was very enjoyable. Overall, it was beyond exemplary first experience and will...
Read moreMartin Patrick 3 is truly a unique store, it is wonderfully curated and appointed and the layout affords plenty of exploration. It is a shame then that the service for such a wonderful store is subpar. Traveling from Chicago, I look forward to shopping at Martin because of the experience of discovery — which absolutely demands attentive and caring staff.
Upon arrival I was greeted vaguely by someone at the front desk who couldn’t bother to look up from his paperwork to properly address my party. I wandered around for 20 minutes, passing several staff members, before I was asked if I needed any help. For a store of this stature I consider this a failure. Two staff members were folding clothes and clearly saw me walk by and they didn’t even greet me. This same staff however greeted a different customer who walked by shortly after me.
I have received more welcoming service at a gas station.
When my husband and I finally did get greeted and given a room to try on clothes, it wasn’t until after we decided on a few purchases were we asked if we needed water. The demeanor of the sales associate completely changed. I wonder if this is now customary of the sales staff to be so selective of who gets help and when, and only if someone has decided on a purchase. Which is truly unfortunate because my first experience of Martin was wonderful and all of the staff were welcoming and attentive.
I question why my experience today was so appalling. This store offers so much and is a joy to walk through, but I feel guilty spending thousands of dollars where I am not welcome. Do better or you will lose...
Read moreSo I recently had to purchase new clothes for a wedding, and I needed all new everything. Having a limited budget and approximately equal or lesser knowledge of how to properly dress myself, I expected the whole process to cost at least 600 dollars and whatever the equivalent of that would be in panic attacks... which might have been the case at Express or Brooks Brothers, but not so at Martin Patrick 3. Actually, it was whatever could be considered the opposite of a panic attack. The staff here hand-picked an entire outfit for hundreds less than I expected to spend on a jacket alone (ask for Todd – I didn't even know my jacket size, but he did just by looking at me). Even on a budget, just say so and they'll accomodate your needs (as in the absolutely unreal clearance section – as in $150 button-down shirts for $50... unreal.) Strictly by the numbers, it's spendy compared what you could spend somewhere else (in mall men's fashion terms: more than H&M, but depending on your needs and willingness/ability to get creative/flexible style-wise, actually less than Express or Brooks Brothers). I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity, though – and you seriously get what you pay for here – complimentary beer/wine, even. For what it's worth, by the numbers, I can afford to shop here like once a year, but for what it's worth, it's worth it. Bottom line: MP3 is one of my favorite places to shop for...
