I have been here a total of 3 times in a span of 6 years, two of which are for business purposes and one of which for personal leisure, and each time Manny's managed to deliver with high quality food, presentation, and service. I will talk about the personal leisure time, which was just earlier today, when my friend and I went to Manny's for dinner. The ambient atmosphere was perfect because I felt like I was able to have a good conversation with my friend without worrying about noise level making me have to raise my volume. I was also impressed with the waitress' ability to introduce different parts of beef they serve, as she presented each piece of meat wrapped in plastic wrap, including the non-steak options. We went with their seasonal menu Brussels sprouts and the popular asparagus as side dishes. The Brussels sprouts were very sweet, which I could see as a turn off for some people. For me, it was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor profile because it was very different from how I would usually just roast those vegetables. The asparagus were well-seasoned to the point that I really did not need the Hollandaise sauce at all, so I just ate the asparagus plain. They were huge, and there was a lot of it. Then I had the thick cut salmon and asked for medium well, and it was spot on. Adding some lemon on the top just made it perfect. They used a piece of Atlantic salmon, so it was bound to be tasty already. The crust was seasoned and crispy, while the inside was soft and showing signs of gradually changing colors. Perfection! My friend had the bone in tenderloin, medium rare of course, and I had a few pieces as well. It was slightly dry on the outside so maybe either there wasn't enough butter or it may have dried up when brought out to her, but the inside was tender and juicy. I have had the double porterhouse and the porterhouse before in my first two occasions, and the chefs cooked my steak pieces perfectly. For dessert, we went with the key lime pie. One thing to know about Manny's sides and dessert portions is that they are huge. With that said, we got one key lime pie, and the size looked like it was good for 6-8 people. The key lime pie was very sour, which resulted in my friend taking very few bites, but I definitely enjoyed every bite of it. Some say this is the best steakhouse in the Twin Cities. Even if I have not been to a lot of steakhouses, I can say this is the best one I have been to in the area, and there is a reason my company chooses this for top performers' business occasions. If you decide to come here, make sure you budget, and...
Read moreI was super excited to take my long time friend (who is from out of town) out to try Manny’s as I’ve heard great things about this place. I didn’t call ahead for a reservation but we were still grateful for getting seated. However it was the worst table because the table was placed right where the runners and busters were running in and out to bring their food. I’m grateful that we got sat right away however if I knew that was where we were going to get seated, we wouldn’t have minded waiting at all. When ordering drinks, we were asked to show our ID’s and while we’re aware that we look young (both 26 years old) even when we presented our ID’s, our server didn’t seem to believe us. My friend literally felt the need to say her birthday and tell him her address verbatim and even after that, she ended up not ordering a drink. The atmosphere felt family style like, loud with lots of chatter which is normal on a weekend night and since we also work in the restaurant industry we felt happy that the business was thriving! Our server was kind and informative with the different kinds of cuts but when it came to ordering, I knew how I wanted my steak and he insisted that I should get it a little more red so I said sure because he knew more than me but when our food came out, I barely touched my $90+ steak. It was too raw for my liking. I couldn’t seem to get the attention of anyone despite being right in the middle of workers coming and going so I just packed it home. My friend really enjoyed her fillet mignon and we really enjoyed the sides! The asparagus were soooooo big and juicy, I really enjoyed those! It was time to pay for the bill and I saw a 5% charge so I asked a worker if this was the tip or an addition to the tip and he replied “No! It’s not a tip! It’s for the kitchen staff and other employees.” I chuckled at his demeanor because I asked simply for clarification but I just said “Okay.” I still tipped 18% because its tacky not to and it felt like the employees there weren’t expecting us to tip anyways but we are not like that because again, we also work in the restaurant industry. The food came out warm and the service was mid. I won’t be coming back or recommending it but it was great to try at least once. You could probably get more bang for your buck at Fogo De Chao & with...
Read moreHave heard about this steakhouse for a long time. And finally visited here twice, one for lunch and another one for dinner.
The lunch and dinner menu are totally different, without a doubt, the dinner menu has much more options.
Here is famous for the steak, so we ordered new York strip for lunch with the broccolini.
The steak is not as good as I expected, I wasn't fond of that much. Since the meat was not as tender as I imagined.
However, the broccolini is really delicious. I pretty love the seasoning for the broccolini.
We ordered loaded hash brown and thick Bacon as the sides. They are super good! The bacon smells so good and it is tasty.
Their sides are a lot, definitely can't finish all the dishes if only have two people visit.
The service are really good! Definitely give them 5 stars for the service for both visiting.
Nevertheless, I would like to give it a second chance regarding the steak.
Ordered porterhouse this time, I still didn't really enjoy the taste of the steak. I ordered medium rare, but the meat is much like medium and medium well. So it is not as tender as it could be.
Also tried some different sides and appetizers. The performance of scallops and Benedict didn't let the flavor of the scallops stand out, kind of waste the good scallops. It includes scallops, bread, bacon, and the Benedict sauce. The bread soft and scallops are soft, so when two soft ingredients combining together can not make any of them stand out. Especially, which the pretty salty bacon and rush flavor sause, I could not really enjoy the scallops. The combination are not really good.
That was my first time to try marrow, and I was impressed by the jelly taste with the bread. I love it!
The side like creamed garlic Spanish is super good! However, asparagus is not pretty good though. Too plain and the asparagus didn't peel the stem well. The stem is hard to chew.
Overall, I recommend this restaurant for some sides and service. However, I didn't think steak was...
