Manny's Tortas — Restaurant in Minneapolis

Very poor service. I am a delivery driver for several platforms, and when I came to pick up my customers order, I was met with hostility and anger, and told because of my race, I have to be treated with caution!. I provided the name of the order I was there to pick up, she said NO, let me see your phone, so I showed her the order on my phone, she said no let me see your phone, I said lady I'm not going to hand over my device to you! I have provided the name of the customer and tried to read off the 3 items on the order. She gave me a extremely hard time, and said they had stolen orders before therefore she wanted me to hand over my phone. I said NO. Not many strangers are going to walk in from off the street and request the NAME, and THE EXACT ITEMS in a order! Give me my customer's order already! She stood there with me arguing, pointing her fingers at me, and shooing me away like how one would do a dog! VERY upsetting that this level of discrimination still exist amongst someone who consider themselves to be a person of color! What's even more worse is that her implied statement that I MAY be there to steal food is ignorant! Your stolen food had nothing to do with me, I provided you the order items, and the name, and you still discriminated against me. I contacted the customer and let her know what was going on, and said the restaurant is not releasing the food to me. It took for the customer to call the restaurant and DEMAND they give me her order! How ridiculous was that! I also reached out to the delivery platform I was working that day, and filed a driver complaint! that type of mistreatment to drivers of color is UNACCEPTABLE.! Especially to the VERY people helping you reach more customers by delivering your foods! I will NEVER accept another order from this...

I'm writing this as I think it's important that Manny knows what happened yesterday as there was something mishandled food service and health wise. I bought a sandwich around 12:30pm for lunch, went straight home (about 15 min away) to eat it - fast forward to about 4:45pm and I'm starting to feel very nauseous. Tried to work through it with some Pepto and rest, but by 6pm I had full on food poisoning - the absolute worst of my life - raged until about 2am when I was finally able to get some rest, but still could not keep any liquids down to hydrate until about 30 min ago. I'll spare you gory details. Yes the sandwich tastes good initially but honestly I dont think I can even think about Mexican food for several months, which I love. I just got married in Mexico in February! I am not a person with a sensitive stomach. My now husband who I've been with for 7 years said this is the first time he's seen me throw up. I can't imagine I'm the only person this happened to yesterday. Please be careful with your ingredients as I was so excited to try your food and...the details following...

I was so hungry that I forgot to snap a photo of my torta, but believe me— she was glorious! I’ve been meaning to try Manny’s for YEARS, so I was excited when my coworker suggested we order tortas from them for a work meeting.

As a vegetarian, I’m always skeptical that a spot that specializes in meat will nail a veggie offering, but I’m pleased to report that Manny’s veggie torta was delightful. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and they resembled meat. The bread was fluffy and fresh, and the sandwich exceeded my expectations.

Can’t wait to go there with my husband. Next time I’ll be sure to get a photo…
